SSS Awakening: Starting With Infinite Soul Copy

Though she was calmly asleep now, something told White she would not remain in that state for long before she began convulsing again.

They needed the Penoly flowers if they wanted any chance of her survival at all and couldn’t afford to wait until the snowstorm thawed.

That birthed the question of...what to do?

’You can choose to leave. None of this has to have anything to do with you.’

The thought occurred to White.

Indeed, he could leave them alone, the old woman and her granddaughter.

They had somehow been doing just fine before his arrival.

Perhaps they still could, and even if they didn’t, whatever happened in the end would have nothing to do with him.

But...that felt wrong.

She had invited him into her home when he was freezing from the cold.

She had every right not to even allow him in simply based on how he looked, yet she had helped him, allowing him by the fireside and even brewing him a cup of coffee.

And on the first sight of her trouble, he was supposed to run out and act like none of it was his concern?

"I’ll go fetch the Penoly flowers."

He suddenly said.

"But,"

"Don’t worry. I saw them when I was coming."

"But... the snowstorm?"

"I was already coming through it. I can endure it."

He said as he stepped toward the door, opening the knob.

He paused in that moment as the words suddenly echoed in his head once more.

’Kill her. The girl is already gone, and the flowers won’t save her. There’s only a demon left.’

White turned his head back only to witness the old woman leaning beside her granddaughter’s bed, her hands gently cradling the girl’s face.

Was giving killing her really the only solution?

Killing her... right in front of her grandmother.

"No."

He said to the voice in his head before stepping out and racing into the distance.

The heavy snowstorm had erased his footsteps that he could have used to find his way back to the flowers quicker, but still, White had a general direction of their location, and after about twenty minutes of searching, he was able to find them.

There was an entire field of them, the same familiar pink color.

Quickly, he uprooted them into a large bunch that should be enough to cover a minimum of three bowls before he rose back up and began rushing into the distance once more.

The snowstorm seemed to grow heavier, battering against him hard as visibility reduced greatly, but still, the orange glow helped him find his way back.

Yet more than halfway through, he couldn’t help but notice the orange glow from the cottage suddenly going dark.

The sight of that made his steps increase.

KNOCK!

KNOCK!

He knocked twice before immediately twisting the doorknob and stepping in.

"I got some! How is she?"

He called out, only to freeze in the next moment as he felt something warm touch his toes...something a little too warm.

He looked downward to see what it was, and the sight made his heart pound violently within his chest.

It was blood, and just a few feet away from him, and the source of the blood was the old woman, who now seemed completely unrecognizable.

For one, half her face seemed to have been ripped apart straight through the skull, while scars tore across the entirety of her skin.

Her arms had been twisted grotesquely in ways no human body should ever have been capable of bending into, and what’s more,

CHEW!

GNAW!

The sound of chewing and gnawing constantly echoed out as White slowly turned.

It was the girl.

Or at least, what used to be the girl.

She now seemed completely unrecognizable beneath the demonic face she wore, and in both her hands and mouth were the intestinal organs of the old lady.

She had killed her.

The girl had killed her own grandmother.

The horror of it made White instantly back away, but then,

GRRROWWWWL!

SLASSSSH!

A heavy growl erupted as the girl flashed forward with speed, massive black claws cleaving toward White, who knocked open the door with his back, yet,

BAAAAAANG!

The claw landed right on his chest, blasting him out of the cottage as he rolled twice through the snow before finally coming to a stop.

The second he did, he could already see her flashing forward on all fours, and immediately he reacted, ripping the sword from its sheath.

"DIIIIIIE!"

Her demonic voice cut through the snowstorm as she cleaved toward White’s neck.

White might have been beyond weak now, but his experience had never been reduced.

Jerking to the side, he took the blow of her claws on his right shoulder before instantly slashing out with the sword.

It connected with her torso, drawing a diagonal line as blood spurted into the air.

The girl collapsed onto the snow only to rise back up as if she couldn’t even feel the pain, rushing toward White once more, who readied his sword and cleaved outward the instant she entered range.

A heavy battle of claws and sword clashed through the snowstorm, but in the end, one person proved victorious.

With a cleave to her shoulder that cleanly severed her torso in half, followed by a kick that slammed into her head from above, 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶

She was nailed straight into the ground, and this time didn’t stand back up.

"Ahhh..."

"Ahhh..."

Snow-white steam puffed from White’s lips as he inhaled and exhaled roughly, barely keeping himself standing.

HEHEHEHEHEHE!

A wicked, evil cackle rang out from her as she laughed mockingly.

"You fool."

It called out to White,

"You could have killed me when you had the chance, but like her, you chose to foolishly believe there was still hope of saving me, even when it was clear the girl was long gone."

"Perhaps if you had chosen to act, she would have remained alive."

It said, and White froze, watching as her claws moved to her maw once more, digging out a squirming piece of tissue from between her lips.

"I have to admit, though..."

The demon grinned wickedly.

"Her liver tasted quite good for such a pathetic old woman."
