Simulations...

A power that had existed since Ancient Earth, made popular through things such as VR, where a soul could live in what had been predetermined, perform actions, and walk towards a goal.

But it wasn’t just humans that were capable of it. The Supernaturals were known for it too, though theirs was more brutal, following real-life consequences.

How did they achieve it?

Technology?

No.

Runes.

And right now, White knew he had ventured into a similar simulation.

There were rules to follow, consequences for refusing them, but also the capacity to work towards a goal and an action.

The bartender picked up the eight fangs, keeping them in the cupboard before replying.

"A new Primordial Wolf appeared."

"WHAT!?"

White almost jumped to his feet in shock.

A new Primordial Wolf!

A new Alphanomalous Creature had appeared!?

He was able to put his shock under control, quickly probing for more information.

"That’s some news. But what’s that got to do with the bar getting deserted?"

"The Alphas went for her Lunar Crowning."

He said simply, turning back to cleaning the cups.

It sounded simple enough, but White didn’t believe it fully.

He had heard one of those Berserkers mention that there was a fight between the Alphas.

"What of the fighting?"

White asked as the hand wiping the cup froze.

"Met a couple Berserkers around here. Told me the Alphas had a fight."

White recounted, both fingers in as he stared curiously at the man, who resumed the cup cleaning.

"There have only been three Primordial Wolves since the descent of us Werewolves onto this world, and a rule of thumb says a Primordial Wolf can only appear after the death of another Primordial Wolf."

"The last Primordial Wolf died, so we had a new Primordial, which is the current one. But she isn’t dead yet, and we already have a new Primordial Wolf."

"To us Werewolves, the orders of a Primordial Wolf are absolute. We follow them without question and hold their beliefs. But that balance has been upset. Which of them are we to follow?"

"Many Werewolves are saying the descent of a new Primordial Wolf shows that the Wolf Gods are not satisfied with the actions of the current Primordial Wolf."

"Some are planning to betray her and join the new Primordial Wolf."

"This started the fight..."

He explained.

"Why are some of the Werewolves unsatisfied with the reign of the current Primordial Wolf? Did she do something wrong once?"

White asked.

"She has a soft spot for our enemies... Humans."

He replied, a bit of suspicion crossing his eyes as he looked at White.

"I have to say, you give me the same feeling as a human."

He said, as White shrugged.

"You get that much when you spend two of your lifetimes living with them."

White said with a shrug, as the bartender hummed before asking.

"I’ve never seen your type of Supernatural before. What are you?"

He asked. White grinned.

"How about an exchange of information? You want to know what I am, fine, but you have to tell me something in return. Something of equal value first."

White proposed.

"What information do you want?"

"Fine. But you answer me first."

He said, and White paused.

"That will mean you will answer any question I ask next."

White said, and the man nodded.

"Fine. Go ahead and ask."

"What type of Supernatural are you?"

He asked, and White tried to lie.

But then, he felt an unexplained squeeze in his heart, his eyes widening when he noticed dark blood starting to fall out of his mouth.

"I should have warned you. This simulation is created using the power of the Primordial Wolf herself. Try to lie, and you will fall down dead."

The man said quietly, wiping the cups.

"Even better than I thought."

White mused to himself with a grin.

If lying was prevented, that meant he could get the absolute truth of whatever he asked.

"I am an Umbrawyr."

He said, and the man paused, his eyes knitting tightly.

Silence stretched on for close to three minutes before White broke it.

"You sound like you’ve heard of it before?"

He noticed, but then the man shrugged.

"I’m surprised that I haven’t. I’ve spent half my life in search of ancient knowledge of the Supernatural, and yet I can’t find your name. That’s surprising."

He said.

"Now, it’s my turn."

White said as the man laid the cup down.

"So what do you want to know again?"

"I want to know everything there is to know about a Werewolf."

White said, continuing.

"The types that exist, how they grow stronger, how to resurrect one, and how to kill one, and ultimately, how to take the life of even a Primordial Wolf."

He said with a grin as the bartender paused in place, before he sighed.

"You shouldn’t have asked that."

He said, as White paused.

"And why is that?"

"The simulation gets voided when any information that can weaken the Primordial Wolf is mentioned. You wanted to know how to kill her, successfully extinguishing the simulation."

He said, and in the next moment White felt himself swerve.

The seat he was on felt shaky, and he quickly got off it.

He watched as it turned to ashes, the same with the table and desk.

What followed next was the counter itself, along with the man.

"The Primordial Wolf now has eyes on you."

Those were the man’s last words before he was also fully erased.

Disbelief filled White at first, before he grinned.

"So you can create a loophole in the simulation, huh? One that saves your own life."

White mused.

"How clever."

But that also confirmed it.

White mused to himself.

"Simply stabbing a Primordial Wolf in the heart would probably not kill them."

White mused, evil laughter easing from his lips.

If the simulation had ended simply because he had asked how to kill a Primordial Wolf, that must mean every way conceivable that he could think of killing one was most likely not correct.

That was an answer in itself.

And when the situation fully disappeared, the place itself was fully revealed, along with what White originally came here to do:
