It was deep... very deep.

White felt himself falling for what seemed like six hundred meters into the underground before he finally came upon a pudgy ground that swallowed him down to his waist.

It gave the same sensation as getting stuck in quicksand, like if he tried to wiggle out, he would only be devoured further.

Add that to the surprise of suddenly falling, and the fact that it was pitch black around him, with barely any light from above despite being six hundred meters below ground.

It was the type of hell that would have sent most people frantic and filled with horrifying fear, but White felt nothing.

For one, his eyesight was incredibly clear in the darkness.

It was so clear that he even felt like wincing his eyes from how sharp everything appeared.

That was a new discovery to White. He could see in the dark better than in the light.

Whatever this body came from... it must be a world of pitch black, to be able to evolve such clear nocturnal eyes.

White deduced.

His ears twitched once as he felt reverberations up above, about six hundred meters away.

They came in quite the amount—a lot of footsteps. Turning his head up, White saw their faces.

They were different creatures, humanoid, but with masks of bone across their faces and bodies, along with deer-like horns on their heads.

"Berserkers."

White mused beneath his lips, as a loud cackle followed after.

"Something fell into the trap."

"Food."

"Yes, but what food?"

"Hmmm, why does he look human?"

"You idiot. You seen a human with horns?"

"Maybe it’s costume? I heard humans..."

"Shut up, you fools!"

A louder voice snapped at them as they quieted down.

A head popped out, looking down at White.

This one seemed to hold a bit of intelligence in its yellow eyes as they narrowed at White in the mud.

Seeing that they seemed to be furrowing their eyes even while he was six hundred meters underground, White could easily deduce that they too were capable of seeing in the dark.

"Whoever you are... you’ve trailed far away from your territory and into ours."

the creature shouted to him.

"I came... looking for something."

White shouted back.

"Looking for what... death!?"

it shouted back.

"No. A Lair!"

White shouted in return, as gasps broke out among the Berserkers.

"A Lair!?"

"Did he just say a lair?"

"He can’t happen to be talking about the Alpha Lair, can he?"

"I mean, if he came all this way, then he must not be aware of the war that broke out between them."

"The door had been locked ever since. How..."

"SHUT UP YOU FOOLS!"

The lead Berserker roared at them, slamming a bone spear out as they all dodged to the ground, cowering on their knees.

"There’s no Lair here, and you’ve ventured into our territory!"

it lied to White, who rolled his eyes.

"I was sent to deliver a message to them... by a Primordial Wolf!"

he lied in return.

"WHAT!?"

The lead Berserker shouted, his eyes almost popping out of their sockets.

"A Primordial Wolf!?"

"Did he just say a Primordial Wolf!?"

"How did he—"

"Shut up, you dumb gremlins!"

The lead Berserker shouted at them before they could further expose anything.

"I don’t believe you!"

the lead Berserker shouted to White.

"Well, will you believe me if I’m able to open the lair with the seal given to me by the Primordial Wolf!?"

White shouted back as the Berserker paused, its yellow eyes lighting slightly as if in deep thought.

"You might want to think fast... I’m sinking in here. And if I die in here, you’ll be challenging a Primordial Wolf to pay you a visit. You sure you want to take that risk?"

he asked.

The lead Berserker paused.

"Bring him up!"

it shouted to the rest of the Berserkers, and quickly enough White watched something sent down.

It was a white ladder, rope-like but not rope.

Truth was, it was bones woven together in the shape of a ladder.

Some even had the rotten skin of creatures on them.

"Grab on!"

"We really are going to rescue him?"

"We haven’t done a rescuing since forever."

"Or maybe we bring him out then eat him?"

"Oh, that trick Lord Berserk did for that green goblin?"

"SHUT UP AND PULL!"

The lead Berserker shouted at them as they quickly pulled at the back of each other.

White cooperated, grabbing onto the ladder, and quickly enough he was pulled out of the pit, landing onto his knees, which were soaked in mud.

That protected the creatures from seeing the human clothes that he had on.

A bone spear was instantly pointed at his neck as he looked around, finding himself surrounded by them.

"I still don’t believe you!"

the lead Berserker shouted.

"You will... after I open the lair."

White continued.

"So take me to the lair... and let me prove to you the power of the Primordial Wolf."

he said to them.

"Lead him..."

the lead Berserker said, as the tiny creatures began shouting a hey! hey! hey! sound while leading White forward.

They ventured deeper and deeper, taking detours that told White they must be avoiding similar traps on the ground set up by Berserkers.

"I thought Berserkers were warriors. You set traps?"

White mused with an eyebrow raised.

"We Berserkers aren’t just warriors. We’re hunters, and people who fall into the traps are extra snacks... people like you, if I found out you’ve been lying to us."

the lead Berserker shouted behind him.

"Fair enough."

They soon reached the mountains, and then they began to climb.

They went through passage after passage, pathways carved in the rocks, going around in a roundabout manner.

All of it made White realize one thing.

It would have taken me weeks to find this on my own.

At last, they arrived before a different area from the mountains.

In here, there was actually green grass on the ground, a pool of clean water by the side, and at the end was the mountain cave securely shut with crimson red runes scribbled onto its surface like a code.

"There is the Alpha Lair."

the lead Berserker said, and White smiled, confirming things with the power rolling from the runes.

These could only have been drawn by truly powerful Supernaturals.

They had led him right into where he wanted.

"Now, prove you’ve truly been sent by the Primordial Wolf. Open the—"

RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIP!

The lead Berserker’s words died in his throat when all of a sudden, a head soared into the sky and pitch-black blood splashed into the air.

"What Primordial Wolf again?"
