Chapter 409: The Soul Condensing Mirror Spirit.

The scenery along the way was almost unchanging. Thankfully, the Crystal Mountain Body ahead was getting closer and closer; otherwise, Mu Chen would have thought he was just walking in place.

"You’d think a vast space like this would have some mechanisms, traps, or illusory mists, wouldn’t you?" Mu Chen had been walking for so long, yet everything was peaceful, as if this truly was just a tomb.

Feng Shanshan smiled at his words. "This place was originally built for our clansmen to live in, but it eventually became a tomb. In all that time, no one but the Clan Leader has ever come here, so there’s no reason anyone would have left traps or anything of the sort."

Mu Chen nodded. "That makes sense. Saves us a lot of trouble, too."

Feng Shanshan just smiled without speaking. By now, the two had reached the base of the mountain. Mu Chen looked up at the towering Crystal Mountain Body and said in surprise, "Now that we’re up close, I realize just how enormous this mountain is."

"It is," Feng Shanshan agreed with a nod. "When I saw it in those mirror images, I also thought there was nothing special about it. But now that I’m here, it’s completely different from how it looked from afar." With that, Feng Shanshan extended a fair hand and began to carefully feel around the base of the mountain, her expression extremely serious.

Mu Chen watched her closely. From the outside, the mountain spanned several thousand meters wide and soared over ten thousand meters high; it was truly a towering edifice. After steadying himself, Mu Chen quickly shifted his gaze back to the mountain face. A dark beam of light shot out from it, and a perfectly circular cave suddenly appeared at the base of the mountain, where there hadn’t been a single seam before.

Feng Shanshan smiled and said, "If we go in through here and head straight up, we’ll reach the place where the Soul Concentration Mirror is kept." As she spoke, she tossed in an ordinary Elemental Crystal. A moment later, the inside of the cave was bathed in light. Staring at the stairs floating in the void before him, Mu Chen felt as if he had entered a dream.

’What kind of power could possibly make these crystal stairs float in the air like this?’

Hearing Mu Chen’s question, Feng Shanshan explained, "The space in here has always been very peculiar. The books in my family’s secret chamber mention that this space likely wasn’t created by humans of the current era. Feng Shanshan stuck out her tongue, glanced at Sima Changkong one more time, and then turned to walk over to the other chair. On that seat rested a jewelry box. The box appeared to be made of wood, but its surface shimmered with a brilliant luster.

Picking up the wooden box, Feng Shanshan gently blew on it, scattering the dust that had settled on top. She stroked the lid twice, and with a soft CLICK, she opened it. At first, nothing appeared inside. But as the gap in the lid widened, a beam of pure white light shot out from the box, instantly blinding Mu Chen and Feng Shanshan.

"What is this?!" Mu Chen exclaimed in a low voice as his vision went completely black. He was horrified. He knew his eyes were closed, but even if they hadn’t been, his Purple Sky Demon Pupils, which had never before been blinded even for a moment, were now useless. What was that bizarre light?!

"Bizarre light? Oh, my~ How could you describe this spirit like that, little fella? This spirit is so devastatingly handsome, yet you call me a ’bizarre light.’ Is there something wrong with your eyes? How rude~"
