Di Cang nodded firmly and said, "I brought him here today to register him for the Tower of Calamity."

Wu Kui ignored Di Cang, looking at Mu Chen with a serious expression. "Name, age, Martial Artist Realm."

"Mu Chen, fourteen, Eighth-Ring Martial Master," Mu Chen answered, his tone serious and detached.

Wu Kui froze for a moment upon hearing the name Mu Chen. He then tapped his temple with his index finger and said, "That name sounds familiar. Well, never mind. This is your qualification token for the Tower of Calamity. Remember, come on the weekends. You can only enter once a week."

Di Cang, however, paid no mind to Wu Kui’s words. Instead, he turned to Mu Chen in astonishment. "When did you become an Eighth-Ring Martial Master?"

Mu Chen glanced at Di Cang and said nonchalantly, "Sometime during this break, I suppose."

Di Cang was instantly petrified. ’It hasn’t even been a month since he entered the academy, has it? But this monster jumped five whole Ring Levels from Third-Ring Martial Disciple to Eighth-Ring Martial Master. Is he even human?’

Wu Kui, however, showed no strange reaction. He said directly, "Kid, your qualification token is processed. I look forward to you achieving great results in the Tower of Calamity. You can head back for now. This old fellow and I have some things to discuss."

Mu Chen certainly knew how to take a hint. He nodded and turned to leave with steady steps. The moment he turned, a colossal, purple-gold stone stele appeared before him. The stele was densely engraved with countless names. Behind each name was a number—some were ones, some were twos, some were sixes. They were all arranged neatly from top to bottom.

However, Mu Chen didn’t see the name of the Martial King, Amoluo, at the top, nor were there any records exceeding ten floors. He certainly didn’t think Di Cang had lied to him, but after searching again, he still couldn’t find it. An unanswered question arose in his mind, leaving him feeling unsettled.

"Silly kid, that’s the Calamity Stele I told you about," Di Cang’s voice came from behind. "Anyone under the age of twenty who has entered the Tower of Calamity will have their name engraved on it. Once they turn twenty, their name is erased. However, there’s one type of person whose name will never disappear—those who clear all thirty-three floors. It’s a shame, though. To this day, no one has ever cleared the entire Tower of Calamity." Mu Chen suddenly understood. Amoluo had cleared the tenth floor the day before his twentieth birthday. No wonder his name was gone.

After giving Di Cang a grateful look, Mu Chen stomped his foot, transforming into a streak of white light and disappearing from before the two men in a flash.

To Di Cang, this speed was nothing out of the ordinary. To Wu Kui, however, it was somewhat surprising, though his surprise vanished in an instant.

"Have you really decided to make your move against that old woman? But are you prepared?"

Wu Kui frowned. In his heart, he probably hated that woman, Qin Yuan, even more than Di Cang did. But he was incredibly patient. For decades, aside from going out on business three years ago and joining the students for a recruitment event, he had never taken a single step out of the Tower of Calamity. He paid no mind to the affairs of the Outer Realm and didn’t even know who the famous Mu Chen was.

Di Cang explained his plan and early preparations once more. Wu Kui looked at him in amazement, a grin spreading across his face as he chided, "You sly dog, Di Cang. To think you started preparing so long ago. Decades, and you’re only acting now. You must have been waiting for the perfect opportunity, weren’t you?"

Di Cang gazed at the spot where Mu Chen had vanished, his eyes glinting with confidence. "That’s right," he said firmly. "The opportunity is here. And it’s a golden one."

Wu Kui had rarely seen such an expression on Di Cang’s face. He asked doubtfully, "Is it really about that kid? But what’s so special about him? I just sized him up and found that he even has a physical deficiency. Besides, a fourteen-year-old Eighth-Ring Martial Master? Our academy has plenty of those."

Di Cang gave him a meaningful look and a strange smile. "Heh, it’s a good thing I was the one who went to the outer sectors for recruitment. If I hadn’t, you want revenge? Maybe in your next life! That kid from just now—do you know what realm he was at when he first arrived at the academy?"

"Tch, what realm was he?" Wu Kui scoffed, his expression full of disbelief.

"Third-Ring Martial Master. In less than twenty days, that kid broke through five consecutive Ring Levels from Third-Ring Martial Master to become an Eighth-Ring Martial Master. Have you ever seen Cultivation speed like that?"

Wu Kui was speechless. "Someone like that really exists? You’re not messing with me, are you?"

"When he was a Third-Ring Martial Master, he could force me to use the power of a Two-Ring Martial Spirit just to fight him to a standstill. Have you ever seen anyone like that?" Di Cang continued.

"When he was a Sixth-Ring Martial Master, he was able to defeat Kong Ye Ming from the Holy Hall. Have you ever seen anyone like that?"

"Before he even reached the Martial Spirit Realm, he could use Walking on Air without consuming any Primordial Power. Have you ever seen anyone like that? Go on, tell me! Have you? Have you ever?!"

Wu Kui was completely stunned. The teacup in his hand fell onto the table with a PATA. Pale green tea trickled over the edge of the desk. Di Cang rolled his eyes at the petrified Wu Kui, stomped his foot, and ripples of Primordial Power spread out from beneath him. Space warped for a moment, and then his figure vanished completely.

As he vanished, a faint voice lingered in the air. "Don’t underestimate him. He will create a miracle for the Empire."

Wu Kui remained petrified for a long time. Only after two minutes did he finally snap out of it. As he registered the immense Primordial Power Di Cang had released, his expression froze and his mouth fell open. A single word, filled with all his turbulent emotions, escaped his lips. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮

"Damn!"

On the way back, Mu Chen ran into quite a few people. Every time someone saw him, regardless of whether they knew him, they would greet him with a smile. This made Mu Chen feel a bit self-conscious, so he just smiled and nodded back at them.

Just then, a figure came charging toward the administration office with the speed of a wild boar, shouting, "Trouble! Trouble! A thief broke into my dorm!"

The moment Mu Chen heard the voice, he felt utterly exasperated. That’s right, the figure was none other than Little Tiger, whom he hadn’t seen in half a month. Little Tiger seemed even more tanned than he was at the start of the term and radiated a feral energy.

Mu Chen stomped his foot, and with a surge of Thunder Light, his body flickered, appearing right in front of Little Tiger. He shot out his left hand and grabbed Little Tiger’s arm. Startled, Little Tiger instinctively unleashed his full strength. But when he tried to throw his opponent off, he found that his immense power couldn’t budge the person’s grip one bit. This forced him to look up and get a good look at the person’s face. The moment he did, however, his own face broke into a wide grin.

"Brother Mu Chen! I was wonderin’ who could stop me!" The words were barely out of his mouth when Little Tiger gasped and grabbed Mu Chen’s arm, yelling, "This is bad! Brother Mu Chen, our blankets and all our stuff are gone! Even our beds are gone! I gotta go tell a teacher!"

With that, Little Tiger started to take off toward the administration office again...

Mu Chen thought for a moment and realized what must have happened. Di Cang had told him earlier that they would be living in the villas for attribute martial artists from now on. Their belongings from the regular student dorms must have been moved there in advance.

Mu Chen grabbed Little Tiger again. "Calm down," he said with a smile. "I heard from a teacher that our dorm is being moved."

"Moved? We ain’t movin’ to some shack on the side of the road, are we? I like livin’ in a house."

Hearing that they were moving, Little Tiger instinctively assumed it was a downgrade. Mu Chen, on the other hand, was rather curious about what a ’roadside shack’ even was.

"Maybe if we go find the dorm manager at the entrance, she’ll know where we’ve been moved."

With that, Mu Chen led Little Tiger toward the first-year dorms at a steady pace. When they arrived at the entrance, they were surprised to find a familiar figure dressed in black. Mu Chen and Little Tiger exchanged a look and called out in unison, "Qing Lei!"

The figure in black turned his head. Seeing Mu Chen and Little Tiger, the corners of his mouth lifted slightly. "You’re here," he said. "I went into our room and saw all our stuff was gone, so I came to the front desk to ask. Turns out, I got these."

Qing Lei produced three keys made of Refined Iron, dangling them in front of Mu Chen and Little Tiger. "Three keys," he continued with a smirk. "To the attribute martial artists’ villas. Heh heh..."

Hearing Qing Lei actually laugh, Mu Chen was a little surprised. Normally, even when the boy tried to smile, it was just a mechanical twitch of his lips; Mu Chen had never heard him laugh out loud before. Only half a month had passed, yet Qing Lei seemed different somehow. Mu Chen didn’t dwell on it, though. In fact, he felt happy. ’A Dark Attribute Martial Artist doesn’t have to be stern and humorless all the time,’ he thought. ’That would be far too inhuman.’

"Let’s go check out the new dorms," Qing Lei said, seemingly unaware of anything unusual about his behavior as he handed them their keys.

Mu Chen took his key; it was numbered 203. Little Tiger’s was 204, and Mu Chen had seen that Qing Lei’s was 205. This meant that while they were all in the same villa, they wouldn’t be sharing a room.

Little Tiger was ecstatic after getting his key. The attribute martial artists’ dorms were bound to be a thousand times better than their current one. His imagined roadside shack had long since vanished from his mind. Exhausted from their travels and from running around all morning, all three of them were eager to get back and take a shower.

The attribute martial artists’ villas were still some distance away. Little Tiger, Mu Chen, and Qing Lei walked side-by-side, not in any particular hurry. Many people on the training grounds saw the trio and stared, their gazes a mixture of emotions. Mu Chen’s appearance was, as always, unchanging: blue hair, white robes, and a black case on his back. Little Tiger wore a beast-hide jacket that, paired with his tanned skin, gave him a powerful look. Qing Lei was dressed in a tight-fitting black outfit, which allowed for greater mobility and easy concealment in the dark.

After being gawked at by the other students for over ten minutes, Mu Chen and his friends finally reached the attribute martial artists’ villas. By then, beads of sweat had formed on all their foreheads. This was especially true for Qing Lei, the Dark Attribute Martial Artist; toward the end, the guy had basically entered his Shadow Concealment State just to make it the rest of the way.
