"Hm?" The hulking man turned his head slightly, glaring at the brown-haired youth with his large, bovine eyes. "Who am I?" he sneered. "Heh heh, I’m Meng Bao! You fucking dare to yell at me? Piss off. If you don’t, don’t blame me for not showing a fellow student any courtesy. Now, scram!"

The explosive shout, laced with a ripple of Primordial Power, swept through the area like a furious gale. Mu Chen’s brow furrowed slightly. ’I can’t gauge this man’s strength, but I’ve also never heard the name Meng Bao.’

"Holy shit, it’s Meng Bao! Wasn’t he sent out on an academy mission? How is he back so soon?" a voice called from up ahead.

"Who’s Meng Bao? Is he that tough?" the youth standing in front of Mu Chen asked doubtfully.

Hearing the question, the student ahead shot him an annoyed glance before saying coldly, "Hmph. Of course a newbie like you wouldn’t know who Meng Bao is. Call me ’big brother,’ and maybe I’ll tell you."

The youth spat on the ground and asked no more. However, the student who had originally been fifth in line now spoke to the one in front of Mu Chen. "Meng Bao, also known as ’the Fierce Leopard’—a title he gave himself, actually. But the guy is genuinely strong. He left a year ago for an academy mission, and his Martial Artist Realm was already at the Three-Ring Martial Spirit level back then. Now that a year has passed, I can’t sense exactly how much he’s improved, but I’m sure he’s at least a Four-Ring Martial Spirit."

Hearing this, Mu Chen glanced at the speaker and realized it was the same youth Han Lei hadn’t dared to talk back to earlier. ’I didn’t expect him to answer someone’s question.’ Mu Chen remained silent, content to observe everyone’s attitude.

But the outcome was unexpected. The student who had yelled out was also a hothead and roared right back, "Fuck your mother! I don’t know who the hell Meng Bao is! If you want to enter the Tower of Calamity, get to the back of the line! My older brother is—"

The belligerent student hadn’t even finished speaking when a massive fist appeared before his face. With a loud BOOM, he was sent flying from the crowd like a cannonball, crashing violently onto the steps. A series of sickening CRACKS echoed out. The steps to the Tower of Calamity were forged from high-hardness refined steel; the sheer force of the impact had nearly shattered the student’s spine. From now on, this disciple of the Holy Hall could forget the path of a Martial Artist. If he was lucky, he would live to spend the rest of his days in bed. If he wasn’t, his life would likely end right then and there.

"Goddammit! I leave the academy for just one year and I’m already forgotten," Meng Bao roared when he noticed the students behind him staring. "And now there are all these reckless little shits running around. What are you looking at? You keep fucking staring, and I’ll beat you all down!"

The other students quickly averted their gazes, feigning indifference. Only Mu Chen continued to stare directly at Meng Bao. When Meng Bao had thrown that punch, Mu Chen had clearly seen four green Martial Rings materialize at his feet. ’Judging by their brightness, he’s a Late Stage Four-Ring Martial Spirit, but still just a Fourth Ring,’ he thought. ’This Wind Attribute Martial Artist is unusual, though. His physical strength is immense... by my estimate, it must be close to eight thousand jin.’

It was Mu Chen’s first time entering the Tower of Calamity, and he had come early hoping to get in quickly. But now he had been pushed back to twentieth in line. At this rate, he likely wouldn’t get in even by noon. With a sigh, Mu Chen took a steady step forward, leaving the queue.

The students behind him stared at Mu Chen in astonishment. Then, one by one, their expressions shifted from surprise to pity. Only the youth who had just explained about Meng Bao watched Mu Chen with a look of utter amazement.

When Meng Bao saw another person step forward, he raised an eyebrow. Striding out from his group, he cursed, "Damn it, another reckless fool. You looking to die?"

The twelve men with Meng Bao broke into scornful, coordinated laughter. Mu Chen shook his head and said calmly, "Of course I don’t want to die. I’m still young; I haven’t lived nearly enough."

Meng Bao was taken aback; it was the first time he’d ever heard a reply like that. "Then what did you step out for?" he asked, a smirk playing on his lips. His expression suddenly turned savage as he bellowed, "To get yourself killed? Now get the fuck back in line and stay put!"

Mu Chen shook his head again, his voice turning cold. "It seems your parents taught you very little about basic manners. And another thing... you don’t have the right to speak with such arrogance. I’ll count to three. Take this pack of dogs with you and get to the back of the line. Otherwise, you’ll face the consequences. One!"

"Holy fuck! Did you all hear that? The biggest joke in the world! This brat is telling *me* to go to the back of the line. Who the fuck do you think you are, Amoluo?"

"Three! Time’s up." Mu Chen sighed. "Why are there so many self-important people in this world, acting so arrogant just because they have a sliver of strength? Since you’re not willing to go to the back of the line, then... you can just lie down on the side."

As he finished speaking, Mu Chen stomped his foot. A burst of CRACKLING Thunder Light erupted from beneath him, and with a ZAP, his figure vanished on the spot.

Meng Bao was shocked, his entire body tensing. He was a Wind Attribute Martial Artist, yet he couldn’t track his opponent’s movements at all.

A massive bang erupted from behind Meng Bao, followed by a bloodcurdling scream. A figure shot out from the crowd like a cannonball, with even more force and at a higher speed than the student Meng Bao had attacked earlier.

"BOOM!"

With another deafening crash, the body was embedded directly into the steps of forged steel. The remaining students were all dumbfounded. A drop of cold sweat trickled down Meng Bao’s forehead. ’This blue-haired youth looks so slight,’ he thought, ’but the speed and power he just unleashed are on a completely different level than mine. If we actually fight, I’ll probably lose unless I use my full strength.’ This was precisely the effect Mu Chen had intended to achieve: giving the man a taste of his own medicine.
