But now wasn’t the time to dwell on that. Wei’en’s ’Spiritual Perception’ was locked dead on the Skeleton Strangler.

’From the side and behind?’

His Spiritual Power detected a ripple in space, and his body reflexively took half a step back, turning to the side. A tentacle immediately whipped past his face, the wind from its barbs leaving several fine cuts on his cheek.

’I dodged it!’

The next attack came from straight ahead. Without a second thought, Wei’en threw himself backward, dodging the second tentacle’s attack in the nick of time.

The two attacks only dealt minor damage; the cuts healed before they could even bleed.

Elsewhere, the Demon Clown, who had been watching with gleaming eyes, tilted his head in surprise.

"Young Mr. Wizard, you actually managed to dodge its attack?"

"Hmph," Wei’en snorted, ignoring him.

"So impressive. Hehe. I wonder if you can dodge what’s coming next..."

Sensing two spatial ripples appear at the same time, Wei’en cursed under his breath and immediately used the Blink Spell to evade.

’The left, the right—’ In an instant, Wei’en made his decision, twisting his body into a deeply awkward posture in an attempt to dodge the tentacles.

But with both tentacles striking at once, he misjudged the distance. The barbs on one of them scraped across his thigh, tearing away a chunk of flesh.

Wei’en’s face twisted in pain, his eyes turning crimson.

The tentacle’s attack wasn’t a quick slash; it felt like a saw being dragged relentlessly across his leg.

"Hee hee hee ha ha ha ha... Wonderful! That pose is just beautiful."

Seeing this, the Demon Clown leaped up in delight, his blood-red mouth splitting from ear to ear.

Wei’en watched the Skeleton Strangler pause its assault. Recognizing the lull, he quickly pulled out a Healing Potion and an Enlightenment Potion and poured them both into his mouth.

He glanced down; a chunk of flesh was missing from his left leg, and he could faintly see the mangled, bloody bone beneath.

"Son of a bitch!"

"Oh? My mother? Oh, you mean Lady Lilith." The Demon Clown paused, propping his chin on one hand.

But soon, his eyes began to turn crimson, as if the name Lilith had flipped a switch to his madness. He let out a pained roar, "Lilith, Lilith, you deserve to die! Die!"

’Huh??’

’The Demon Clown’s mother is Lilith?’

Before he could dwell on it, the Skeleton Strangler seemed to receive some kind of command, and its tentacles whipped out once more.

’Crap.’

Out of the corner of his eye, Wei’en glimpsed six tentacles vanishing behind the Strangler, and a look of horror flashed in his eyes. ’Six??’

The Secret Master’s expression was also grave, his lips moving as he chanted an incantation: "Nico, Ruke."

He didn’t dare rely on his unpracticed Spiritual Power for sensing, so he cast three Blink Spells in quick succession, dodging into the gaps between the tentacle strikes.

"Mr. Leonard, stop! I still have to help you find that lady!"

The drain on his Spiritual Power made Wei’en’s head feel like it was about to split apart. He struggled to open his eyes and look at the Demon Clown.

"Mr. Leonard!?"

But the Demon Clown seemed not to hear his shout, his expression twisted in agony. "Lilith, Lilith, my beloved Lilith, why? Hee hee ha ha... Why?"

’Shit.’

Seeing this, Wei’en watched the Strangler’s indifferent eyes gradually turn savage, and a chill went through his heart.

He knew he couldn’t count on the Demon Clown anymore. The only one who could save him now was himself!

’The panel. Right, the panel!’

Wei’en quickly opened his panel and glanced at it. 862 Survival Points. All this torture at the hands of the Skeleton Strangler hadn’t been for nothing, at least.

There were only a few spells he could upgrade right now that would be effective against the Abyssal Creature in front of him.

Bone Wall, Necromancer’s Claw, Fireball Technique, and Lightning Arrow...

In a split second, Wei’en made his decision. ’Bone Wall, Necromancer’s Claw. Just these two. Add the points!’

Feeling the change as his Magic strengthened, Wei’en let out a low roar, "Phantom, Bone Wall!"

"Wol, Gans, Tar!"

The instant the four Bone Walls rose, three of the Skeleton Strangler’s tentacles had already slammed into them.

The Bone Walls held for less than a second before the tentacles shattered them and continued on toward him.

However, with that brief buffer, Wei’en was able to twist his body and dodge the tentacles, escaping this time without a single new wound.

"Again! Bone Wall!"
