The Alpha's Forsaken Feisty Mate

After returning to the mansion, Radulf sat on the sofa for leisure. The servant served water to him. While drinking it, he thought, ’I haven’t given any blow to the royalty recently. In the ball, Aria destroyed my plan by pestering Zenna.’

"Alpha, the Luna Queen has sent a response for you." Savio’s voice put a halt to his thoughts. He lowered the glass and lifted his head to meet his beta’s gaze.

"What did she say?"

Savio opened the scroll and read it, "Bring Zenna to the palace once you two are done with the outing. Ignoring it may have consequences."

He looked at Radulf and continued, "It seems the Luna Queen will not kneel. You must go to the palace with Luna in a while."

"If Loretta is offended, she will take out the anger on Zenna by asking me to stay outside and threatening Zenna to stay silent," Radulf muttered.

"Hmm. That’s strange. Why would the Luna Queen want to punish our Luna? She has done nothing," Savio muttered, furrowing his brows together in confusion and concern.

"Because Zenna is an easy target for everyone in the palace," Radulf stated. He pinched the skin between his brows. "Where’s Zenna?" he asked and lowered his hand.

"Umm... I saw her in the living room, talking with Nina," Savio replied.

"I will go to the palace alone. Zenna does not need to come," Radulf stated, rising from the sofa.

"It won’t be wise," Savio suggested. "The Luna Queen wishes to see Zenna. You may bring more problems to her and eventually for yourself."

Radulf contemplated for a moment. "Then, I’ll take her to the palace."

"That would be wise," Savio replied with a gentle smile playing on his lips. "I know you will protect Zenna or maybe she can do it herself," he remarked.

"If she does speak for herself, Loretta won’t hesitate to punish Zenna the same way the Alpha King did. She is scared of her family and thinks they will harm the people around her if she doesn’t listen to them," Radulf explained to him, his tone turning furious as he spoke about it.

"Hopefully, you can end that," Savio asserted.

"I will," Radulf replied with confidence.

"Is Alpha reading those letters?" Savio inquired curiously.

"Yes," Radulf replied. "I’ve not told Zenna about it yet," he added even before Savio could ask him the same.

"But wouldn’t it be better if you tell her?" Savio suggested.

"I want to read them first. I want to find out how much she yearned for my return. It amazes me how she waited for me when she didn’t even know anything about me," Radulf murmured, feeling a bit amused.

"That’s what we call a loyal wife. I am glad you are slowly adapting to the changes. Open your heart too and embrace Zenna," Savio advised him. He then bowed and left saying he would make the arrangements for their departure to the palace.

"What? Alpha told everyone in front of everyone that you were his mate!" Pia exclaimed with a stunned expression on her face.

"Yes. We walked and talked about a lot of things. He even shared things with me when he was young, a school-going kid. And Radulf later even kissed me. Twice." Zenna detailed everything she could with such enthusiasm that would only raise the beats of her heart and fill her with delight.

"I am so happy for you, Luna. Finally, things are going better between you two," Pia stated, her eyes turning misty with happiness.

"I should go now to see him. Now, we live in the same chamber so it’s difficult to even talk about him with you. But it’s better this way too," Zenna stated.

"Yes. Please hurry there. And... You can even seduce Alpha Radulf tonight only to step back later. It will annoy him and he will confess his feelings finally to you," Pia stated, jumping at her own idea, already thinking it has succeeded.

"I think it’s better this way," Zenna answered with a smile. Shortly, she headed to the chamber but to her surprise, Radulf wasn’t in the living area.

"Radulf!" Zenna called out his name and went to the bedchamber, but it was empty too. She turned to leave when his voice came out of the washroom on the other side.

"Bring me clothes, Zenna." The voice was loud enough to make her hitch her breath.

"Why didn’t he take them with him?" she murmured and opened the cupboard. Since it was night, she took out a plain night outfit for Radulf and went to the washroom.

Knocking on the door, Zenna said, "I’ve brought your clothes."

The door creaked open and she extended her inside. However, Radulf had other plans in his mind. He pulled her in and closed the door behind them. A startled cry escaped her mouth when he quickly kissed her.

Zenna ceased to blink, her hands remained an inch away from his bare chest. "You are drenching my clothes! Let me go," she protested after meeting his gaze.

"What will you do if I refuse to let you go?" Radulf asked.

"I-I will shout for help," Zenna replied with a stutter.

A laugh erupted from Radulf’s mouth at her foolish reply. "And then, a servant would rush in. What if at that moment I will make you moan? What will the servant think? Their Luna and Alpha are having..." His last word trailed off as she pressed her hand on his mouth.

"Stop being such a pervert. Nothing is going to happen," Zenna stated with a challenge.

Radulf held her wrist and lowered her hand. Without any caution, he ducked his head to her neck and pressed a tender kiss on her skin.

"Radulf, you can–" her words ceased in her mouth as he placed his palm over her mouth and nipped the sweet spot on her neck.

He snuck out his tongue and licked it before grazing her skin again. At the same time, he lowered his hand to her neck which was on her mouth a moment ago.

To her surprise, a moan escaped Zenna’s throat.
