The Alpha's Forsaken Feisty Mate

The next morning,

Radulf’s eyeballs moved as he finally woke up from the deep slumber. The heat in his body had finally subsided, but his nostrils again wafted with that enticing, pleasant fragrance.

"Zenna," he murmured. ’Why am I thinking about her even in my sleep?’

Radulf felt the cold, steady breath of someone on his chest and he promptly opened his eyes. His eyes widened to see Zenna, lying in his open arm and her clothes were on her body. His gaze landed on the mark on her neck, representing their mate bond.

"Fuck! I marked her!" He exclaimed in shock, "and mated with her!" Radulf brought his hand to his hair, trying to recall when he lost his mind last night.

’Black, why? I told you to be in control. It was only about a night.’ Radulf talked to his wolf.

’Zenna came to us. We both did it. Don’t blame me solely. You and I both know how much we wanted our mate to be with us in the state we were. Don’t you feel better and stronger?’ Black sounded quite happy.

"She came to us!" Radulf growled in a low voice under his breath. She intentionally came to him to get marked. The mere thought of it filled him with more disgust. Since she couldn’t secure her mark the other way, she tricked him the previous night. He didn’t even recall the details from last night. But judging by their state, he knew they both did it.

Furiously, Radulf got out of the bed and picked up the robe fallen on the floor. He put it on, preparing himself mentally to confront Zenna.

’Let’s go out with Zenna,’ Black suddenly said in his mind.

’Don’t even dream of that. I am on the verge of getting burst in anger. This wasn’t supposed to happen,’ Radulf growled in the back of his mind with a fury.

’Are you serious, Radulf? We now have marked her. You can’t be hurting her again. I’m not letting you do it,’ Black screamed in his mind.

’Well, you should have thought about it before letting her pheromones overpower us,’ Radulf muttered and headed to the washroom to clean up.

In the bedchamber, Zenna felt suddenly cold even though the duvet was on her. Her eyelids fluttered open and she found herself all alone in the bed. She heard the faint falling of water from the shower and a smile formed on her lips.

She could never forget the last night. The way Radulf tenderly took her in his arms, taught her how to kiss and a few more things caused her to blush.

"The mark," Zenna murmured as she reached her hand to her neck. The mark shone green under the tips of her fingers and her heart fluttered.

"Zenna, my mate, allow me to mark you," Radulf said.

"Are-are you serious, Radulf? You said I had to earn it from you," Zenna murmured, looking into his eyes. "You asked me to seduce you."

"Zenna, you know how beautiful you look like this!" Radulf’s fingers grazed her skin on the neck. "Your eyes always enticed me. These eyes made me think what’s deep in your heart. And I know it’s me. You and I were meant to be together a long time ago. Fine. If you don’t want to, then I will not mark you."

With that, he kissed the tip of her nose.

"I-I want it. You can mark me, Radulf," Zenna said, her hands cupping his face between her palms.

Zenna was jolted out of her swirling thoughts by the distinct click of the door. Her gaze darted toward the sound, and within seconds, Radulf was standing right in front of her.

His damp hair clung to his forehead, droplets of water trailing down the sharp lines of his face. He was draped in a bathrobe, loosely tied, the fabric parting enough to reveal his broad, muscled chest. The faint sheen of moisture on his skin caught the light, emphasizing the defined contours of his body.

Zenna’s breath hitched involuntarily, her heart pounding against her ribs. She clenched her fists at her sides while clutching the duvet tightly, though the intensity of his gaze pinned her in place.

Radulf, on the other hand, was confused to see a bruise on Zenna’s cheek. Either it was the mate bond or his genuine concern that he drew to her and held her chin up, tilting it to take a better look on her cheek.

"Did I do that?" Radulf asked, his anger visible through that tone. He would never raise a hand on Zenna even if he didn’t like her.

"No, you didn’t." Zenna looked at him with a shocking gaze. ’Is this called the protectiveness of a mate?’

Radulf let go of her chin and watched her smile.

"Why did you do it?" He asked with a frustrated tone.

"What?" She confusedly glanced at him.

"Don’t act as if you know nothing. You came to me intentionally to secure that fucking mark. You knew how vulnerable I was. I can’t believe you will stoop this low that you didn’t even consider once what I feel for you." Radulf’s accusing words stabbed her heart and the sting from that pain was too deep.

"I didn’t do—"

"Don’t," he growled, his voice trembling with anger. "Don’t say another word. Congratulations, Zenna!" He scoffed with a chuckle and continued, "You’ve got what you wanted. Now you can flaunt that mark to your father and make my life even more miserable. But hear me well—stay away from me. I... I don’t want to lock you in the dungeon, but don’t test me."

Zenna couldn’t believe what she was just hearing.

"How did you even manage to pull this off?" he continued, his rage building further. "Did you use your father’s name to get past Savio at the entrance? Did you use your fucking authority on him as if you own him because you are my wife? I can’t believe you’d stoop to such scheming."

Radulf’s words poured out like lava, burning away any remnants of trust that she started to see in their marriage.
