{"The Palace previously refused to confirm whether the leaked recording was authentic. Tonight’s footage has intensified the crisis, particularly because the kiss allegedly occurred after filming had ended. Representatives for Julian Cross insist the two were rehearsing an unscripted addition to a later scene, though neither the production company nor the Palace has supported that explanation."}
Park stared at the blurred footage replaying across the side of a tower.
"An unscripted addition," he murmured. "That is one brave little excuse."
Even Mick’s mouth shifted faintly in the rearview mirror, though he did not speak.
The anchor continued.
{"His Majesty has now summoned the Royal Chancellor, the Privy Council, and senior members of the Cabinet to an emergency meeting at the Palace. Prime Minister Alexander Bennett is expected to attend alongside key security, constitutional, and Royal Household officials."}
The footage changed again, showing a line of government vehicles entering the palace grounds.
Park leaned back.
"Girls with daddy issues, huh?"
He said it almost to himself, but the thought lost some of its humor before it finished leaving his mouth.
"A princess running away to become an actress..."
He almost laughed.
"...That’s either unbelievably stupid..."
A beat.
"...or unbelievably relatable."
He scratched his cheek.
Who was he to judge?
Park had spent an entire life failing at acting with such relentless dedication that even death had decided to relocate him rather than convince him to quit.
He had chased auditions while broke, cold, hungry, ignored, and one unpaid bill away from learning whether landlords could legally remove a front door. Talent had kept him hopeful, but passion had made him stupid enough to continue.
Nothing had stopped him.
Not humiliation, poverty or rejection.
Apparently, not even being flattened by a car.
’Why should a princess be any different?’
If acting was what she genuinely wanted, then being born into silk and ceremony did not suddenly make the hunger less real. It probably made it worse. Park had needed to fight his lack of power. Princess Seraphina had to fight an entire empire’s belief that her life belonged to them.
That sounded exhausting.
Also incredibly entertaining from a safe distance.
"Mom and Father won’t be coming home tonight, then."
Park spoke aloud this time.
Mick did not react.
Not even a pause or a glance in the mirror. Nothing.
At first, Park assumed the man was simply too bitter to participate in casual conversation.
Then he looked more closely.
Mick had not been surprised by the news report either. That part made sense. Rumors like this rarely waited for broadcast anchors. They started online, multiplied across entertainment forums and social media, then reached television after strangers had already inspected every visible shadow in the footage.
But Mick had shown no reaction when the Royal Chancellor and Prime Minister were named.
More importantly, he had shown no reaction when Park casually referred to Mom and Father.
Park’s gaze sharpened.
Mick kept driving, eyes fixed on the maze of elevated roads ahead, his expression carrying the familiar irritation of a man transporting an actor he considered barely worth the fuel.
He had not understood what Park meant.
The realization arrived quietly.
Then it hit him all at once.
Mick did not know.
’The agency certainly does not know either.’
None of them had any idea who Park really was.
To Mick, he was simply another rookie actor. A handsome applicant with uncertain prospects, one lucky gig, and a contract that could disappear the moment he failed to prove his worth. That was why Mick had been comfortable treating him like trash.
Why he had ignored errands, made threats, and behaved as though Park had no one powerful enough to ask what the hell he was doing.
Because as far as Mick knew, Park had nobody.
The corner of Park’s mouth lifted.
The irony was almost too rich to enjoy in one sitting.
His father was the fucking Prime Minister.
Alexander Bennett, the man leading the Cabinet, governing the empire, and, according to the memories beginning to stir and doing everything within respectable parental limits to stop his youngest child from entering the entertainment industry that would expose who he really is and who his parents are.
His stepmother was no decorative political wife smiling at state dinners while newspapers discussed her dresses.
She was the Royal Chancellor and the Lord President of the Privy Council.
The iron hand that kept the Crown from being swallowed by Cabinet politics, palace rivalries, constitutional disputes, and whatever fresh disaster the Royal Family managed to manufacture before breakfast.
’The same woman now being summoned to the palace because a princess has apparently confused an acting set with a private dating room.’
Park looked at Mick through the rearview mirror.
The runner remained completely unaware that the rookie sitting behind him belonged to one of the most powerful households in the empire.
What a mess.
’What a glorious but absurd mess.’
And what a powerful family he had landed inside.
’The Bennetts.’
Even the name carried weight in the borrowed memories. Political power. Old money. Public respect. A family praised in newspapers as the kingdom’s perfect modern household.
The brilliant Prime Minister.
The formidable Royal Chancellor.
Their three beautiful daughters.
A marriage admired for its strength, elegance, and complete absence of visible cracks.
Yet nothing in the public image mentioned Park.
No photographs.
No headlines or stories about the Prime Minister ever birthing a son!
’Nothing about an only son.’
Park lowered his gaze to the phone in his hand. The family wallpaper still showed him among them, smiling beside people the entire empire knew, yet somehow the world did not seem to know him at all.
Why was the Prime Minister’s youngest and only son hidden so completely that even his own talent agency had no idea who had signed their contract?
And how had a nobody named Park ended up calling the most powerful woman near the Crown his stepmother?
The Alphard continued winding through the endless roads as the city blazed around him, every tower displaying the scandal of a princess who wanted to become an actress.
But Park was no longer watching her.
He was staring at the smiling family on his phone, one question growing louder with every passing light.
How the hell had Park become the secret son of the Bennett family?
