Burke looked at the people he had brought with him and waited. He had heard that Adrian himself had gone to the neighboring county to bring a priest for the prayer, so all he could do now, was wait.
Soon, the sky began to turn red when he saw a man in pure white robes walk towards them. Behind the priest was Adrian who was carrying a sleeping Aria who was now wearing a blue dress with white frills.
Adrian had a stupid grin on his face as he walked over and spoke in a soft voice.
"You guys do the prayer while I put her to bed. I’ll be back in a few minutes but continue without me."
Burke nodded and Adrian quickly left.
The priest looked at everyone and smiled, "The goddess will bless those who are in real need. As long as you pray with all your heart, she will grant your wish."
Just like that, he took out a leather bound book and began to recite verses.
The people got on their knees, touched the ground with their foreheads and put their hands at the back of their heads.
It was a common praying position all across the continent, which was common for most if not all churches.
The prayer went on for thirty whole minutes but Adrian had still not returned.
The priest, who was on the last page of his book, slowed down and said the final line.
"Oh great goddess who has everything, please grant us the blessings of prosperity!"
The moment he finished the last line, the ground shook.
People looked up in surprise as they watched a root point upwards and branch out before a transparent glass orb appeared right in the middle. The root branches held it tight and the shaking stopped.
Burke looked up at the huge tree which was the dungeon’s outer form and then, closed his eyes.
"Oh great goddess of prosperity, you have my utmost devotion from this day forth."
His voice was soft, but it carried over to the people nearby. All of them repeated his words and the action spread outwards until every single person gathered had pledged their devotion to one single goddess.
Burke then walked forward and addressed the crowd.
"My dear fellow people of Oresfall! We’ve suffered for two whole decades but we worked hard, put our life on the line and persevered until now. The goddess might have blessed us, but we must not forget that our Baron, Lord Adrian was the one who believed in our town while all of us had secretly given up."
Some nodded, some stayed silent, while the rest looked guilty.
"I will go in and check what kind of blessing we’ve received and I’d like to invite four experienced adventurers to come with me."
Four people walked to the front without a single word and none of the others complained. It was like they already knew that these four would be the only acceptable people to go with Burke.
These were the only E rank adventurers in Oresfall.
There were two ways of gaining ranks in the Adventurer’s guild. One was through sheer strength while the other was through hard work and contribution.
For regular people who never trained in the knight arts or could become mages, E rank was their limit.
Burke walked towards the dungeon with his old adventurer group and as he tried to directly walk into the hole that the dungeon had as it’s entrance, he was stopped by an invisible force.
"It’s like an invisible wall..." a guy with a large sword said as he knocked on the air that was the entrance.
"Hey, I think this is how you do it. Maybe we must fill it up?"
Burke and three others looked at the person who said this and saw the guy staring at the glass sphere which was now partially filled with a blueish liquid inside.
"I put my hand on it and it filled up with this liquid." he said as he looked at his friends.
Burke and the rest of them placed their hands on the glass orb and it filled up completely before emptying itself and filling up again. It emptied itself a second time and filled up by approximately 10% before stopping.
Burke looked at the others, "I guess this should be enough... let’s try going in."
He walked in with his team and what he met with, was not the damp and dark goblin cave that he was used to.
The five of them stepped into a small room with chiseled stone walls all around them. A white carpet lay below and right in the center of the room, was a weird looking item.
Exactly three seconds later, a translucent blue screen appeared in front of them.
[Adrian’s Blessed Dungeon]
The glass ball absorbs mana through contact and once it’s filled, you can spin the wheel. Any reward you get through the wheel will be considered as dungeon loot.
The instructions seemed simple and the guys didn’t really see any monsters inside.
On top of that the name itself was special.
The guys looked at each other and couldn’t help but wonder.
Was their Baron a blessed of the Goddess of Prosperity?
The answer to the question didn’t matter as long as it brought Oresfall benefits.
Burke was the first to take a step forward and place his hand on the ball. Unlike the one outside, which just measured how much mana someone had, this one sucked in all of the mana in his body.
It made him feel slightly weak, but there weren’t any serious drawbacks. Mana enhanced everyone’s lives but it wasn’t necessary to stay alive.
"It just absorbs all your mana like it said. Bartholomew, you’re next."
A guy with a bow slung over his shoulder walked forward and put his hand on the ball without hesitation, filling it up completely.
The mana inside the ball disappeared and the wheel began to spin.
It slowed down after a few seconds and came to a stop on a gray section before an iron ingot appeared in front of the wheel and fell to the floor.
