Adrian immediately clicked on the custom option to check what it had to offer and what he saw, was that he basically had no limits to his creativity.

Traps, terrain, monster types, items.

He could do anything as long as the dungeon had enough mana to use.

After seeing whatever there was to see, he turned to look at the adventurer.

"Let’s go back. It’s dangerous for the two of us to explore this on our own."

Hearing this, Burke let out a sigh of relief. Even he, as an experienced adventurer, would have to be extremely careful and even then, soloing the dungeon was a hard task.

It was possible on his own even if it was hard, but with Adrian to protect, he wasn’t sure that he could do it.

"As you wish, sir." he said out of habit and corrected himself, "Sir Baron."

On their way back, Adrian made sure that he still had access to the dungeon through his skill before he glanced at Burke.

"So Burke, I’m pretty ignorant about Oresfall so I’ll be grateful if you can tell me about this place."

Burke looked at Adrian thoughtfully for a few seconds before nodding.

’He’ll give up on all his plans once he hears about this place anyways. Everyone’s the same.’ he thought.

Clearing his throat, he spoke.

"A long time ago, when I was still young... this place had rich iron mines. It was prosperous even though the lands aren’t fertile. But almost two decades ago, we had mined through everything and that’s when issues began. The count we had back then gave up on this place and let us rot. Without the iron mines, we could only risk our lives in the goblin dungeon and sell the loot we got so we could afford food." he said slowly, keeping an eye on Adrian to see if his expression changed.

But it didn’t. Adrian just nodded along like it wasn’t anything serious.

"We had hope at the start but the death rate was high. New adventurers died quick and many people began to move to different towns. Now, the population is low and most of them are middle aged people like me who stubbornly stay here because it’s the place we were born. Realistically, this place is a lost cause."

Even after he said it himself, he just saw Adrian nod again.

The two of them walked in silence until they reached the mansion and then, Adrian stopped right in front of the gates before he turned to face the experienced adventurer.

"Burke, do not worry. Gather the townsfolk tomorrow night and bring them to the dungeon entrance. We’ll be praying to the Goddess of Prosperity. I’ll send someone to invite a priest for the event. I’ll do everything I can to make Oresfall great again. This is not just your home, Burke. It’s our home now."

The two guards nearby stared at the two of them before they looked at each other while having similar thoughts.

’This time we got a delusional one...’

They watched as Adrian walked inside and then looked at Burke who seemed absolutely speechless.

"Uncle Burke, just do what he says. Every one of those nobles is the same." one of them said while the other joined in.

"Yeah, they all give up after a few tries."

Burke looked at them and shook his head, "No... I can feel it. It’s different... it’s almost like... he knows that it’ll work."

Inside the mansion, Adrian walked around and let out a soft sigh. It wasn’t in a good condition. Rotten floorboards, creaky stairs, bug infested beds and all sorts of issues.

Just as he was walking along the corridors, he heard someone speak. Or rather, yell.

"How dare you enter the treasury? Who do you think owns this place?"

And soon after, a loud resounding slap.

Adrian’s stomach clenched as he moved quickly and found three people standing in front of a large wooden door. Aria, Damian and a woman wearing a maid uniform. She seemed to be in her thirties and she was also pretty but none of that mattered to Adrian.

His gaze moved to Aria’s eyes and they were empty, almost soulless as she stared at the servant.

Soulless empty eyes. That’s how the novel always described her eyes and that was her most noticeable feature. But now, it struck a chord deep inside him.

"Who do you think you’re raising your hand on?!" he yelled, his voice traveling through the entire mansion.

It startled all three of them. The emptiness in Aria’s eyes vanished instantly as she looked up at her father’s enraged figure.

She hadn’t seen him much in her entire life but this was the first time she had seen him this angry.

Adrian took long strides, walking past Damian before he stood right in front of the woman, towering over her.

"Tell me. Who do you think owns this place?"

"Y-you, my lord." she stammered as she looked up at him, her hands shaking.

"And who do you think is the daughter of the person who owns this place?"

"Lady A-Aria, my lord."

Adrian took another step while she took a step backwards instinctively.

"And who did you just raise your hand on?"

"My lord, I’m e-extremely sorry! I apologise for my lack of insight. Please forgive this lowly servant!" she said as she backed up against the wall.

Adrian didn’t respond to her and instead, he turned to look at Damian. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖

"A butler who watches silently while a servant slaps the daughter of the Baron."

Aria on the other hand, stood speechlessly while she watched him yell at the people who had hurt her and for the first time in decades of her harsh life, she felt something warm and wet trickle down her face.

This was the one and only person who had ever stood up for her.

And he was her father.
