Su Qing felt no remorse for scarring Zhao Li’e’s face. She squinted at the ceiling. ’This is only the beginning. If you mess with me, you better be ready for payback!’

Just then, the plants in the courtyard suddenly sent Su Qing a wave of feedback.

Su Qing’s spirits lifted. ’Have they found Li Wan?’

Su Qing immediately reached out with her consciousness, gently touching the plant. A blurry stream of information flooded her mind. It wasn’t clear, but she could grasp the general meaning.

’It can’t be helped. These aren’t mutated plants, and the Spiritual Energy in the city is so low. It’s already quite impressive that they can send back even this much blurry information.’

After processing the information, Su Qing breathed a small sigh of relief. Thankfully, the man who had taken Li Wan was caring for her meticulously and bore her no ill will.

But her curiosity was immediately piqued. ’Just who is this man?’

After some thought, Su Qing decided to head out first thing in the morning. She would follow the information from the plants to find the man and Li Wan. Regardless of the circumstances, Li Wan was this body’s original mother. Now that someone had harmed her and left her in this state, Su Qing had a duty to protect her, no matter what.

The moment she saw Su Qing, Li Xiaojuan’s anger flared. She glared at Su Qing and demanded furiously, "Su Qing, you’re the one who hurt my mother, aren’t you?"

Su Qing gave Li Xiaojuan a cool glance and sneered, "Which of your dog eyes saw that? If you keep spouting nonsense and try to ruin my reputation, I might just have a chat with the police about you."

"You!" Li Xiaojuan choked, at a loss for words. The truth was, she had no proof. Her accusation had been fueled purely by her distress over Zhao Li’e and her own festering hatred for Su Qing.

Li Xiaodong quickly interjected, "Xiao Juan, don’t make baseless accusations."

Then, Li Xiaodong turned to Su Qing with a broad smile. "Cousin, are you heading out? Where are you going? You’re not familiar with Jia City, let me go with you."

Even though Su Qing had thrown him to the ground with a shoulder toss just yesterday, Li Xiaodong still felt an insatiable craving when he looked at her face. He hadn’t understood it back then, but now he knew exactly what he was feeling.

The first time he had met Li Wan, he had been utterly captivated by her beauty. But he was just a boy back then and knew she was his aunt, an elder. Plus, Li Yuan was disfigured later on, so he had pushed those feelings to the back of his mind. Now, however, seeing Su Qing—who looked so much like Li Wan, and was perhaps even more beautiful—he could no longer suppress his desires.

Besides, Li Xiaodong knew a few things about the family’s situation, so he felt no need to hide his intentions toward Su Qing.

"No, thank you. I just want to walk around by myself," Su Qing said coolly.

Without sparing Li Xiaodong or Li Xiaojuan another glance, she walked out of the Li family home.

"Brother, look at her attitude! You were so nice to her, and you see how she appreciated it?" Li Xiaojuan fumed at Li Xiaodong.

"Enough, Little Sis. Didn’t Dad tell you not to make accusations without proof? Besides, if we really get on her bad side, do you think you can take her in a fight? Or that I can?" Li Xiaodong asked, frowning.

Li Xiaojuan pressed her lips together, saying nothing. She shot Li Xiaodong a look before storming into the house in a huff.

Su Qing, of course, paid no mind to the Li siblings’ conversation. She was completely focused on communicating with the surrounding plants, following their directions as she walked along.

And so, following the path indicated by the plants, Su Qing made her way out of Jia City, eventually arriving at the foot of a mountain more than ten kilometers away.

It wasn’t a village, but a single bamboo house hidden deep within the mountain forest.

"Be a dear, drink this soup before you sleep, all right?" a gentle male voice murmured from inside the bamboo house.

Su Qing kept her distance, instead using the plants’ perspective to see what was happening inside.

She saw Li Wan leaning against the side of the bed, her gaze vacant. She obediently drank the soup the man fed her, one spoonful at a time. The man’s movements were exceedingly gentle, and he would periodically use a handkerchief to delicately wipe away any soup that dribbled from the corner of her mouth.

It was clear that Li Wan was being well cared for. Her face was clean and her hair was neatly combed. Even the quilt covering her looked wonderfully fluffy and soft.

After he finished feeding Li Wan the soup, the man helped her lie down. Once she had fallen asleep, he picked up the empty bowl and stepped out of the house.

Su Qing intentionally made a sound. The man instantly looked up, his gaze sharp as he stared in her direction. "Who’s there?"

Instead of answering, Su Qing stepped out from the trees.

The man started in shock when he saw Su Qing’s face, nearly dropping the bowl in his hand. His eyes widened as he took a few steps closer, staring at her face. "Who are you? You’re..."

The man wanted to ask what this girl’s relationship was to Li Wan. The resemblance was just too striking. This girl looked almost identical to a young Li Wan—in fact, she might even be a touch more beautiful.

Su Qing didn’t beat around the bush. "Li Wan is my mother," she said directly.

"You... you’re A wang’s daughter?" the man asked, stunned.

The man was truly astonished. He knew Li Wan had a daughter, but according to the information he’d gathered, hadn’t her daughter perished in the mountains along with her husband? How could this be...

"That’s right. The one and only," Su Qing said coolly.

The man was stunned for a long moment before a faint smile touched his lips. "It seems the information I received was incorrect."

Su Qing raised an eyebrow. She was curious as to how Li Aiguo had managed to cover up her existence. Clearly, judging by this man’s reaction, she wasn’t supposed to be in Jia City at all.

"It looks like we have a lot to talk about," Su Qing said with a faint smile.

The man narrowed his eyes at Su Qing. "I’m surprised. You’re very composed for someone so young. How did you find this place?"

He was extremely curious. His home was very well hidden; an ordinary person would never find it. He had gone to great lengths to conceal it, and no one would ever think to look for a small bamboo house in this part of the forest. He had hidden Li Wan here specifically to prevent the Li family from finding her.

And yet, while the police hadn’t been able to find him, this girl had found him with ease. The man couldn’t help but be curious about her. This girl seemed to be quite capable.

Su Qing smiled faintly. "Finding you was easy."

The man froze.

"If I could find this place, the police can find it too, sooner or later." Su Qing looked the man in the eye and said calmly, "Now, what I want to know is who you are, what your connection to my mother is, and why you brought her here."
