Zhao Li’e stared at Li Aiguo in disbelief. "You must have heard wrong, right? How is that possible!"

The sharp, searing pain on her face made Zhao Li’e cry out. She threw the ladle aside and clutched her face, letting out a series of piercing screams.

"What’s wrong?"

"What happened?"

Zhao Li’e’s screams naturally alerted the Li family. Everyone except Ning Daya and Su Qing rushed to the kitchen, following the sound.

"Ah, Mom, what’s wrong with you?"

The first to arrive was Li Xiaojuan. As soon as she entered the kitchen, she saw Zhao Li’e lying on her back on the floor, clutching her face with both hands, her legs kicking wildly as she writhed and shrieked.

"Ah, it hurts, it hurts so much!" Zhao Li’e was in agony. The entire ladle of freshly boiled, scalding water had been poured onto her face. She was panicking, her mind in complete disarray.

"Mom, let me see." Li Xiaojuan hurried forward and pulled one of Zhao Li’e’s hands away, then saw her face.

"Ah! Mom, how could this happen!" Li Xiaojuan was terrified. Zhao Li’e’s face was covered in blisters from the burn. Large and small, they covered almost her entire face, and even her neck was ringed with blisters. Her original features were no longer recognizable.

Li Xiaojuan was so shocked she fell and sat right on the floor, staring at Zhao Li’e in utter disbelief, at a loss for what to do. All the while, Zhao Li’e continued to wail in pain.

When Li Aiguo burst into the kitchen, this was the scene that greeted him. He could tell at a glance that Zhao Li’e had been scalded by boiling water.

Immediately, Li Aiguo roared at Li Xiaojuan, "What are you staring at? Hurry up and get the bicycle! We’re taking your mom to the hospital!"

As he spoke, Li Aiguo grabbed the nearby ladle, scooped cold water from the water vat, and poured it all over Zhao Li’e’s head and face.

When someone gets burned, the most important thing is to cool the area down quickly to minimize the damage. Li Aiguo at least knew that much.

Li Aiguo rode one bicycle with Zhao Li’e, while Li Xiaodong and Li Xiaojuan rode another. The four of them hurried off to the hospital.

Once they arrived at the hospital, a doctor urgently treated Zhao Li’e’s wounds. Because her burns were severe, she needed to be hospitalized for observation to prevent infection.
