"Shang Yuxuan, you... you..." Zhang Fengzhi’s face turned the color of a beet. No matter how shameless she was, having her deeds exposed in public still made her feel humiliated.

Some people are always like that, blindly believing one side of the story or relying on their own preconceived notions. They feel justified in standing on their moral high ground to condemn someone or something, completely disregarding whether the other party is innocent.

"Su Qing, I’m so sorry. You’ve been wronged today because of this." Shang Yuxuan felt terrible and quickly spoke to Su Qing.

The two chatted as Li Huan followed Su Qing to her courtyard home in Xilin Alley.

"Oh my god!" Seeing Su Qing’s siheyuan with its two courtyards, Li Huan’s eyes went wide. "Su Qing, you didn’t tell me you bought a courtyard house!"

Yesterday, Su Qing had told Li Huan she’d bought a house. Li Huan had assumed it was an apartment in one of those old concrete buildings. She never imagined it would be a courtyard house, and in Xilin Alley of all places! When she saw Lianhua Lake right in front of the property, Li Huan could hardly believe her eyes.

"Oh, did I not mention it?" Su Qing blinked. "Then I must have forgotten to say."

Li Huan rushed forward and hugged Su Qing’s arm. "You were trying to surprise me, weren’t you?"

Su Qing laughed. "Well, are you surprised?"

"Surprised? I’m beyond surprised!" Li Huan followed Su Qing into the courtyard house. Looking at the exquisite renovations and elegant decor, she was completely smitten. "Su Qing, I absolutely love your place!"

"If you like it, come over often. We can make some food ourselves next time," Su Qing said with a smile. "This house is fully equipped, and the kitchen has all the tools we could need."

At this, Su Qing paused, looked at Li Huan, and chuckled. "Of course, I’m not letting you in the kitchen. I don’t want you to burn my house down."

"Hey, you’re making fun of me!" Li Huan’s face immediately turned red, and she lunged playfully at Su Qing.

After they horsed around for a bit, Li Huan took another detailed look around the courtyard. The more she looked, the more she loved it. "Su Qing," she sighed, "I’m so motivated now. I’m going to work hard so I can buy a courtyard house like this one day. This place is just amazing."

"Okay, you can do it." Su Qing went to the kitchen and took some homemade pastries, smoked wild boar jerky, and a pot of Pu’er tea out of her storage space.

Even though she was already full, Li Huan couldn’t help but start nibbling on the snacks Su Qing brought out. A short while later, a light rain began to fall outside. The two sat in the main hall, enjoying their tea and snacks, listening to the pitter-patter of rain in the courtyard, and gazing at the lush flowers and trees. "This is just too beautiful," Li Huan sighed.

Su Qing glanced at the sky and said, "It looks like this rain won’t stop anytime soon. Why don’t you stay here tonight? I have extra bedding and everything, so it’s convenient. You can just call your family and let them know."

Hearing Su Qing’s offer, Li Huan’s face lit up with a smile. "Okay!"

That night, Li Huan stayed over at Su Qing’s house. Originally, Li Huan had planned to take Su Qing sightseeing around Beijing the next day. But who would have known that not long after they woke up the next morning, someone would come to Su Qing’s home.

"Li Huan!" Hearing a knock, Li Huan ran to open the door. When she saw who was outside, both she and the visitor froze. The person at the door stared at Li Huan in astonishment. "You... you live here?"
