As he uttered the words, he felt a slight shift in the atmosphere at the scene.

Something seemed a little different.

Before he could think on it, Dane asked in an even more solemn tone, “Then may we know the name and divine powers of this divinity?”

That question stumped Chaoyang.

While he understood what a name was, what exactly did ‘divine powers’ refer to?

During his days at Magnificent Castle, he had indeed heard names similar to those of divinities, like The God of Mechanism who was enshrined at the central city church, and the Storm God that Haiya had mentioned… But he had never heard of ‘divine powers’.

Moreover, he knew that these “divinities” weren’t the conventional repositories of faith, but rather some kind of real entities; the pillars of light piercing the sky were the best proof. The problem now was making something up on the spot, without letting the other party notice anything amiss, which was a bit tricky.

But Chaoyang wasn’t one to be trifled with.

Once his power of bluffing was in full gear, he noticed that the appellations of these gods were quite consistent. Moreover, most of the time people did not mention the complete names of deities but referred to them as the god of something—could this ‘something’ be a summary of their ‘divine powers’?

First of all, the word ‘Demon’ was definitely out of the question.

Even if there was no such word in Netherworld, there would be an equivalent with the same meaning, instantly putting him at a disadvantage due to innate connotations.

Secondly, he couldn’t be too precise; he had to leave room for imagination so that even if he got it wrong, he could find a way to correct it later on.

After pondering for a long while, Chaoyang replied aloofly, “The names of my lords must not be spoken directly; we all refer to it as Paradise. The suffering of the world shall vanish in Paradise, and in the end, only joy will remain.”

Dane and Judy exchanged glances.

This is bad, overdid the act, Chaoyang thought to himself. Regrettably, since the contract was over, he could no longer cunningly read their thoughts.

“No wonder it is so…” Judy muttered.

No wonder what? Don’t leave your sentence half finished!

Fortunately, Dane continued Judy’s statement, “Judy once prayed to the divinities for my whereabouts, but all prayers fell on deaf ears; perhaps only this divinity watches over people’s sufferings.”

Chaoyang suddenly felt a bit embarrassed.

After all, the only reason he noticed this was because the other’s wishing power was quite tempting.

But the words were already out; there was no reason to publicly slap his own face.

This change was minuscule, and had he not lived through days of severe wishing power shortage, painfully aware of every expenditure, he might not have noticed it right away.

Could it be that the wishing power has taken on a life of its own?

“You helped us; now it’s our turn to help you,” Dane placed the note into his chest pocket, “This is difficult, but I will try my best. Could you leave an address? Just in case I have some news, it would make it easier to contact you.”

“Oh, that… No need for that, since I haven’t found a suitable place to stay yet,” rushed Chaoyang, quickly regathering his scattered focus and replying softly, “I will come to visit every few days, you can tell me then.”

He actually had a place in Magnificent Castle.

That was the starting point of the second round of the game, a small cabin.

But it was so shabby there wasn’t even a bed in the house, not befitting his detective status, so naturally it wasn’t suitable to tell others.

“Why not, Dane… Loan the house on Emerald Street to Lord Chao for temporary residence,” Judy suddenly suggested, “It’s quite secluded there, and it’s just empty anyway, might as well use it to repay our benefactor.”

“I don’t mind, but considering your status, my lord, I’m not sure if such a humble cottage would be to your liking,” Dane said cautiously.

“Judy,” Dane interrupted her quickly.

The latter blinked mischievously.

“The God of Paradise does not care about status and welcomes anyone to bask in its radiance,” said Chaoyang, which translated to the more wishing power available to help with work the better. With that, he stood up and nodded towards the two, “Now that we’ve agreed, I await the good news from you two.”

“I’ll walk you out,” Dane said, also standing up, “The keys to the house on Emerald Street are just hidden in the entrance hall.”

However, just as Chaoyang took a step, a strong mental stimulus suddenly surged into his mind!

It was a feeling he knew all too well…

It was the rejection and discomfort that occurred when introducing player consciousness into Paradise, which usually took a few minutes to settle down.

But he hadn’t started a new round of the game now, so how could there be any players entering?

The stimulation in his mind didn’t last long, just a short ten or so seconds. The strangeness completely vanished, but he sensed a surging presence taking shape in the next room, as if standing on the edge of the coast where a storm was about to strike!

“Sir Chao, what’s happening?” Dane noticed his unusual expression.

“Go back, stay in the room and don’t move!” Chaoyang pulled a handgun from the void, strode to the next room, kicked the door open, and aimed at the center of the storm.

And a woman was slowly standing up from a kneeling position. She had flaxen curly hair, a pale face, and azure eyes, appearing very young, but what set off alarm bells in Chaoyang’s mind was that she was dressed in a skirt and a tweed jacket, clearly in the style of modern clothing!

This was an invader from the same world as him!

“Who are you?” Chaoyang’s index finger applied about a third of its strength.

The woman did not answer. Her expression was extremely surprised, but in the next moment, her eyes changed, confusion and hesitation completely faded away, and in an instant, it seemed as if she became a different person, with only determination in her eyes.

Before, Chaoyang always thought it was impossible to read so much from a person’s expression in such a short time, but that was exactly the impression she gave him now.

In that moment, Chaoyang thought of moths to a flame.

He decisively pulled the trigger—

And at that moment, she straightened her legs and charged at Chaoyang, uttering words he could not understand.

His vision instantly disappeared.

“Coachman, drive!” Chaoyang shouted loudly.

“Sir… when did you come back?” the coachman asked, startled awake from his dozing off.

At that moment, the front door of Dane’s residence was smashed open, and the figure of the woman appeared clearly in Chaoyang’s view.

This is bad, he realized, it’s too late to leave now!

The woman closed the gap in three quick steps and leapt into the air when she was still seven or eight meters away from the street, raising her hands high above her head. The storm swirling around her rapidly gathered in her hands, creating a broadsword that radiated rainbow light, the swords blade both clear like an erupting whirlwind and like a neon bloom.

Then the woman swung both hands down!

Chaoyang instinctively raised his hands to protect himself, squinted his eyes, clenched his teeth, ready to endure the unstoppable strike!

But the anticipated pain of tearing didn’t come on time.

There was just a thud, something collided with him directly, flipping him over in the carriage. That was undoubtedly not the sharp blade but something soft.

Chaoyang was stunned for a moment, then slowly opened his eyes.

Colliding into his arms was the woman, who had clearly passed out.
