“Fuck! Fuck! Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!” Kels cursed repeatedly, not even bothering to count, as he turned and dashed for the door!

But even more outrageous things happened.

The level-four security door was supposed to automatically lock itself, yet his staff card couldn’t unlock the electronic lock!

“You do not have the permission to operate this.”

The electronic lock kept repeating the message.

Just five minutes ago, this card worked perfectly to unlock the door.

“Aike! Can you hear me? Answer me, damn it!”

Kels tried several times to no avail, and, in a fit of rage, pounded the door hard, which did nothing but leave his hand painfully vibrating. He knew all too well that the door was made of steel with a thickness of at least ten centimeters; it was hopeless to try to open it with his bare hands, not to mention even with all kinds of wrenches and hammers at his disposal.

At the same time, Tyler was driving on the road home. The rush hour had passed by 7 PM, and the traffic was not heavy. He casually tuned the radio with one hand while steering with the other, driving with ease.

In fact, he relished this time on his way home. After a busy day at work, leaving the bustling city center felt like shedding a load off his shoulders. Even though he would be busy again tomorrow, it did not prevent him from enjoying this brief respite.

Tyler suddenly realized, it was not his illusion! The ground wasn’t warping; it was slowly lifting!

This was a feature of the Twin Towers Bridge. Whenever a large ship needed to pass through the Thames River, the bridge sections on both sides would be lifted by the mighty cables to allow free passage. Since its construction, the bridge was usually raised once a week, and the lifting periods were generally fixed, with the roads over the bridge being closed accordingly.

But under no circumstances should it have been raised today!

Tyler turned to glance at the rearview mirror, his heart sinking instantly as he saw the red and blue police lights flashing madly and the boom gates inching down.

He slammed on the brakes.

The tires screeched sharply, and the car jolted fiercely—its speed indeed dropped a bit, but it did not come to an immediate stop and continued to rush forward.

He then yanked the steering wheel violently, hoping to use the barriers at the side of the bridge to bring the car to a halt.

But the wheel felt as if it were locked in place. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t move it an inch. Even more inconceivable was that the seat belt locked at the same moment, tightly restraining him in his seat like a net—under normal circumstances, the seat belt would only activate its tension mechanism if the vehicle were hit.

Just like that, Tyler’s car sped out ahead of a crowd of shocked onlookers, charging straight for the main deck of the Twin Towers Bridge.

At this moment, all the warning lights on Tyler’s dashboard lit up, and a red and black eye appeared on the central control screen.

The moment he saw the eye, Tyler instantly understood everything!

The navigation system also emitted a synthesized electronic voice.

“If you want to live, tell us everything you know—did you know of the Demon’s existence before you entered Paradise?”

At this point, the front of the car had started to tilt upward, entering an incline. The raised bridge loomed like a high wall, heralding the approach of death.

The brakes were completely out of order. No matter how much he pressed, the speed instead was increasing.

Clearly, the vehicle’s electronic control system had been completely taken over. Although the brakes were a mechanical structure, the output of the electric motor was still controlled by the software. If it were a traditional gasoline car, pressing the brake would also cut off the fuel supply immediately, but electric cars are different. As long as the electric motor runs at full speed, even if the brakes locked up, the wheels couldn’t be completely stopped. Furthermore, due to the intense friction on the brake pads, the brake discs would exhibit significant thermal decay due to the heat, until they could no longer restrain the wheels at all.

The steering wheel was the same. It was physically connected to the steering mechanism, but for ease of handling, modern vehicles are generally equipped with power steering pumps. Tyler never imagined that the Demon could go this far!

His company, in response to environmental policies, had the higher-ups commuting in electric vehicles. As a manager, Tyler naturally followed suit. Unexpectedly, this high-performance new car had become the opponent’s weapon.

“You have less than thirty seconds left. It’s not too late to speak now.”

The electronic voice chimed in again.

Tyler bent down with difficulty, pulling out a hidden dagger from beneath his shoe sole, and directly cut through his seatbelt.

“Twenty seconds.”

He then tried to open the glove compartment on the passenger side, but the latch was locked, impossible to pull open.

Tyler opened the storage compartment on the driver’s side, pulled out a screwdriver, then turned the handle around and smashed it hard into the corner of the car window!

Just then, the car window suddenly dropped, causing his full-force blow to miss! Because of the excessive force, his wrist hit the glass frame, and the screwdriver flew out of the window. The half-lowered car window then rapidly rose again, sealing tightly shut.

“Ten seconds.”

Tyler took a deep breath.

He made no further movements but sat back in his seat and straightened his tie.

“Tell them I’ve made the necessary contribution to national security, Britannia will surely remember everything that happened today.”

He said.

At that moment, the vehicle surged off the bridge.

For an instant, he felt as if he were flying.

The eye on the central control screen disappeared.

In that last moment, Tyler looked toward the Thames River, where the dusk had settled. The dark red ripples were moving away from him, and the golden glimmers became closer and closer, as if it wasn’t he who was plunging into the river, but the river itself was embracing him.

With a colossal splash, all colors turned to pitch black.
