As soon as General Dorn received the all clear message from the emperor, he immediately knew what to do. He immediately rang the muster and within minutes all the soldiers of that underground base gathered in the same room.

These soldiers were the elite of the elite. They were warriors trained and indoctrinated in the harshest and most brutal ways. Fierce, ruthless, intelligent and with an absolute loyalty to the Empire. If the emperor had asked them to kill themselves, they would have done so without hesitation.

These soldiers were like diamonds. Extremely rare and difficult to make and above all to maintain. Therefore, there were no more than ten thousand in the entire imperial army. Of these ten thousand, however, only five hundred had been selected for the task ahead, as they had demonstrated quicker adaptability and speed of thought.

These soldiers were in fact the ones who were supposed to go to Davis and conquer the colony. Since this colony was not particularly large, only a limited number of soldiers could go there. After all, they only served three purposes: conquer the colony, serve as a workforce, and then train future new recruits.

The Empire’s plan was simple but perfectly functional: send a small handful of soldiers to conquer the colony, transfer the upper echelons of the imperial elite once the battle was over, and then start an expansion program using the soldiers as manpower and scientists as engineers, and using cloning pods to exponentially increase their numbers. This genetic material had been carefully selected and belonged to individuals who, at least by the standards of the Empire, were deemed perfect in terms of physical strength, intelligence and loyalty. Since Davis was rapidly terraforming, the Imperial population explosion could soon be rapid, not having to account for issues such as atmosphere, temperatures, and cosmic rays. Of the new cloned population, most would be trained from the original five hundred elite troops, with the aim of becoming the new Imperial army, with which the Empire would subsequently return to Eden as soon as it became habitable again and wipe out the last pockets of resistance that survived the catastrophe.

It was a perfect plan. Five hundred troops might seem like little to be able to take a planet, but given that Davis’s only habitable place was still the colony, and that scientists were mostly inside, this number was more than enough. The only real obstacle would have been the dinosaurs present on the planet, but after all, that was exactly what the elite soldiers were for.

Besides, the dinosaurs on Davis weren’t part of their military. They were simply workers who went there to help with the terraforming process. And finally, they didn’t expect an attack.

This was perhaps the most important detail. The surprise factor would have been key. With luck, they could have taken the colony without losing a single man.

“The emperor has given the order!” General Dorn proclaimed. “The Alphaomega Plan has begun! Remember, you trained for this! Taking the colony is vitally important, so failure is not allowed!”

“YES SIR!” the soldiers shouted in perfect chorus, as if they were of one mind.

The general nodded. “Masks!” he ordered, and everyone immediately pulled an oxygen mask over their faces. Although the colony was protected by a dome, it was better not to risk it. Their enemies could have turned off the oxygen exchange to make them asphyxiated.

“Activate camouflage!” the general ordered again, and in a single instant all the soldiers swallowed a pill and disappeared. The pill in question was obviously one that had been tested on the Sarja battlefield and mimicked [Ambush] perfectly. Thanks to them, the Empire counted on being able to take the inhabitants of the colony even more by surprise.

Just as Sobek had wreaked havoc on the human fleet four years ago by sending dinosaurs protected by [Ambush] and [Teleportation] to do damage, now the Empire aimed to use the same trick to take over the colony.

“Prepare for teleportation!” the general yelled, as the machinery above him began to sizzle with an electric spark. "For the Empire!"

“FOR THE EMPIRE!”

The transporter device activated and in an instant every human molecule in the room was transported tens of millions of kilometers away.

Croft was literally dragged in front of the Hellfire bombs. They were all crammed into one gigantic hangar, so big it could have held a small village. The bombs were as big as train cars and probably weighed a few dozen tons.

With little time available, Croft had managed to build only twelve bombs. He also had to be said, of course, that the scientist had deliberately slowed down the work. Croft had gone to great lengths to build as few bombs as possible, but he couldn’t even build any, otherwise it would have been suspicious.

“What do you want me to do?” he asked the general.

"You have to start the detonation of these bombs and then teleport them to these coordinates" replied the man handing him a piece of paper with numbers written on it, clearly the coordinates after the detonation should have taken place.

Croft sighed. "Do you want to blow them all up at once?"

Each Hellfire bomb could release enough energy to incinerate everything within a radius of 300 km, unleash a shock wave that would circle the planet many times, and cause a minor nuclear winter with catastrophic consequences. Combining the power of all twelve existing Hellfire bombs meant releasing enough energy to unleash a disaster of unbiblical proportions, more. If Croft had known of the existence of parallel universes and of the small planet from which Sobek came, he could have easily compared the consequences of the detonation to those caused by the impact of the asteroid which had wiped out 75% of life on Earth 66 million Years ago.

But despite that doomsday prospect, the general didn’t flinch. "Exactly. We have established that these bombs will all detonate together, while the others will instead be launched at specific targets"

“Do you also want to detonate nuclear and thermonuclear bombs?”

“Yes, all those in our possession. But the managers of the other bases will take care of that. Do you think of these bombs here”

Croft gulped. Not only did the Empire aim to detonate the twelve most powerful bombs ever created, but it also wanted to drop all of its atomic deterrent. If that had happened, the catastrophe would have been even worse.

Compared with the disasters that had occurred on Earth, it was safe to speak of an even worse mass extinction than the one that occurred in the Permian, which extinguished 95% of all life forms. Perhaps, life outside the oceans would even cease to exist. The only possible survivors would have been the deepest fish, where radiation could not reach and the food chain was not based on sunlight.

Even if Sobek hadn’t been killed, he would have had a hard time ensuring the survival of his people. Cleaning up such an amount of radioactive waste and fallout would have been a titanic undertaking that would have taken months. Even with the combined efforts of humans and dinosaurs, most of them would have died before the sun would shine again on Eden.

"I’ll get right to work" Croft said. "Excuse me, but why precisely these coordinates?"

“We need them to kill him”

“He... wait, do you mean lord Sobek?”

"Exactly"

Croft’s eyes widened. “How do you know he is at these coordinates?”

“We’ve been studying that dinosaur for years, and we’ve compiled a list of places that might be... important to him” the general explained. “Each of these places has a spy satellite constantly monitoring it. And not even an hour ago, one of these satellites spotted Lord Sobek appearing at these coordinates."

“He may have moved...”

“No, it’s still there. We have ascertained that. Apparently, he passed out. We cannot kill him with conventional weapons, but the detonation of these bombs will surely end his life"

The Empire had located Sobek almost immediately after Wafner had ordered a search. Unlike the Eden Union and the dinosaurs, the Empire knew exactly where to look, having already marked Sobek’s usual travel locations and keeping an eye on them with geostationary satellites. When Wafner discovered this, he immediately seized the opportunity, ordering the bombs to be dropped at exactly that spot.

Sobek had only survived the Hellfire bomb explosion on the Moon because he could only use the [Ultimate Move: Black Hole]. But now, Sobek was unconscious. If even one Hellfire bomb exploded in his vicinity, he would incinerate him. Let alone twelve.

Basically, the Empire would have succeeded in killing Sobek. Wafner would have been just a little behind the times and would have had to give up the dream of personally taking the life of the dinosaur. But after all, given the situation, he could be content with simply being the one who gave the final order.

The important thing was that the Empire won. With Sobek dead, there would be no chance for Eden to recover from the cataclysm any time soon, and life would face extinction. In short, everything would have returned to the right track.
