The Devil Who Claimed Me

Mila scowled at him. She was trying to control the situation, but he had already declared his decision. She turned to the middle-aged man.

"Mr. Lee, please calm down first," she said in Mandarin, her tone composed. "Your men tried to violate me. Dominic was furious, and he warned them. But they, instead of accepting their mistakes, blamed me and accused me of something I didn’t do."

Mr. Lee wouldn’t listen to her. He snorted. Ignoring her, he looked at Dominic.

"For a woman, you hurt my men. They were my core team members, my trusted ones. And you shot them? It’s equal to shooting me."

He glanced at Mila scornfully. "It’s just a woman. You can find many. But my men are precious, can’t be replaced. Don’t you know it?"

Mila tried to convince him. "Mr. Lee..."

"Enough," he barked, eyes blazing. "You caused this. You are the reason for this fallout. I won’t forgive you."

He pointed his finger at Dominic. "You – I won’t forget this humiliation. I can’t work with someone like you. The deal is off."

"No..." Mila panicked when Mr. Lee turned to leave. She grabbed Dominic’s hand. "He is leaving. Stop him."

"Let him go," said Dominic coldly. "He doesn’t deserve my partnership."

Mila looked helplessly at Mr. Lee and then at Dominic. Both men were adamant with their decisions. They wouldn’t listen to her.

Then suddenly, chaos erupted.

"Ah..." Some screamed and ran away.

The others gathered together, calling for help. "Call the doctor."

"Someone fainted."

"Help."

Mila and Dominic turned and saw a group of people gathering around a man who lay unconscious.

Then Mr. Lee’s cries echoed, "Help, someone call the doctor. Help my son."

He cradled the young man in his arms, panic rising. He called his name. "Wake up. Do you hear me?"

But the man wasn’t responding.

"I need to check him," Mila said, already stepping forward.

"Why help him?" Dominic tugged at her arm and stopped her. "He didn’t care about you. Those men almost raped you, but he wouldn’t listen. He would support those guys. Why do you want to help such a man? Let him suffer."

Mila frowned, disbelief crossing over her face. "I am a doctor. Saving life is my duty."

Dominic opened his mouth but could say nothing.

She pulled free and hurried forward. "Let me check him."

Mr. Lee glared at her through his teary eyes. "You think I’ll trust you. Get away. You will only make things worse."

"I’m a doctor," Mila said.

"Doctor?" he scoffed. "Even if you are a doctor, I don’t trust you. Because of you, my two men were shot. And now you want to hurt my son? Get lost."

Mila grew restless. Looking at the man’s pallid face, she could tell the man didn’t have much time.

"You are wasting time," she said sternly. "He may die. So step back and let me check him."

"Don’t curse my son," Mr. Lee shouted.

"She is a doctor," Dominic stepped forward. "She can save your son."

Mr. Lee scowled at him as if trying to understand what he was saying.

"If you want your son alive, let me do my job," Mila insisted.

That was it. Mr. Lee stepped back, his heart heavy with fear.

Mila knelt beside the unconscious man, checking his pulse, his breathing. Then she quickly started chest compression.

No response.

She continued pressing his chest harder. "Come on."

Seconds felt like hours.

Mr. Lee started pacing in panic. The room felt suffocated.

Then the man coughed. His body jerked as he sucked in a deep breath.

Relief flooded the room.

"My son," Mr. Lee cried, crouching down beside him.

"Please step back." Mila blocked him. "He is still not stable. He needs to be taken to the clinic immediately. I need to stabilize him before moving him to the hospital."

Dominic called his guards and told them to take the man to the clinic.

The guards followed his order immediately.

Within minutes, he was brought to the clinic. Mila continued to check him.

Remy had already heard about it and had been waiting for them.

"This is a cardiac emergency," Mila said with urgency lacing in her voice as soon as she entered the clinic. "Get me aspirin."

Remy nodded quickly and obeyed her.

Meanwhile, she checked his blood pressure.

"Pressure is dropping.

Within seconds, Remy returned to her with an aspirin tablet.

She adjusted the patient again. "Get me oxygen."

She loosened his collar and tilted his head slightly. "Sir, can you hear me?"

The man nodded weakly.

"Good. Stay with me." She slipped the tablet into his mouth, guiding him to chew as she monitored his breathing.

Then an oxygen mask was put on his face.

"We don’t have much time," she said. "He needs to move to the hospital now."

"Hospital?" Dominic frowned.

"This could be a coronary blockage. He’ll need further tests—possibly surgery."

Sensing the urgency, Dominic nodded. "I’ll arrange it."

Orders were given. Within minutes, everything was set in motion.

Dominic turned to Mila. "My guards will take him to the hospital."

"You are not understanding the situation, Dominic. He needs me. On the way, anything can happen. Someone expert needs to stay with him constantly."

Dominic didn’t want her to leave the island. "It’s not safe. You can’t go. Let Remy handle it."

"I..." Remy hesitated. "I’m not a cardiologist. This situation – I can’t handle it alone. I need Mila."

He wouldn’t take the risk as he was afraid of Mr. Lee punishing him if something went wrong.

"We don’t have time," Mila pressed. "Every second is counted. We need to leave immediately."

Dominic was still hesitant. But when he looked at the man, he nodded. "Fine. I’m coming with you."

In the meantime, a guard came and said, "The chopper is ready."

Within minutes, the entire place shifted into motion. The patient carefully lifted.

"Keep the oxygen steady," Mila instructed Remy as they moved. "Don’t tilt him too much."

"I have got it."

Mr. Lee stayed on the other side, his hand hovering near his son but not interfering.

Mila paused for a fraction of a second before stepping into the helicopter to look around. Everything was arranged so fast. It was beyond her imagination.

’This is his world.’

Mila climbed in immediately, positioning herself beside the patient.

Within seconds, the helicopter lifted into the air.

The flight was tense. Mila kept monitoring him.

At one point, his breathing faltered.

Mila reacted instantly. "Remy, support him—now."

She adjusted his position.

Mr. Lee watched helplessly. When his son’s breathing stabilized, he let out a sigh of relief.

By the time they landed on the mainland, an ambulance was already waiting. Dominic had arranged everything ahead of time.

The transfer was swift and seamless. They arrived at the hospital in no time. A medical team was already waiting at the entrance.

The moment the stretcher rolled in, doctors took over.

Mila walked alongside, giving a quick report.

Mr. Lee followed, his steps unsteady.

The doctors took the patient inside without delay.

Mr. Lee turned to Mila, his eyes full of gratitude. "Thank you," he murmured. "You saved my son."

"It’s my duty," Mila replied.

A flicker of guilt flashed across his face. "I’m sorry. I yelled at you, blamed you. Yet you helped me."

"Mr. Lee..."

He raised a hand and stopped her. "I misjudged you because of those men."

Shame burned inside him. "I know they are wrong. Yet I ignored it and pinned the blame on you."

He sighed heavily. "But I’ll correct my mistakes."

His expression hardened. "They wronged you, and they should be punished. I promise they will face the severe consequences. And for the deal..."

He smiled. "It’s still on."

Mila grinned, relieved.
