The Devil Who Claimed Me

Mila pulled out a bunch of documents from the folder and handed them to Valentina.

"Distribute these."

Valentina moved swiftly, placing a copy in front of every board member.

One by one, they flipped through the pages. Shock spread across their faces.

The signatures, the legal seals—everything confirmed that Mila wasn’t lying.

She was the majority shareholder.

Leonard’s expression twisted, his composure cracking. "So what if you hold the majority shares?" he snapped. "You know nothing about running a business."

He slammed his palm on the table.

"I’ve been running this company for years. I’m the CEO. And I won’t tolerate irrelevant people barging in here."

Mila let out a cold scoff. "The most irrelevant person here is you. And I’m dismissing you."

All were shocked. The room erupted into murmurs.

Leonard roared, fury blazing, "You can’t fire me." He turned toward the board members. "Say something. I’ve worked day and night for this company, for all of you."

His voice rose with desperation. "Will you abandon me just because she walked in and made a claim?"

The board members exchanged looks. Then one of them spoke.

"We stand with Leonard."

Another one nodded. "If he is removed, we’ll withdraw our shares."

A ripple of agreement spread across the room.

Mila froze for a second. She hadn’t expected this. Uncertainty crossed her face.

"Where were you all these years?" one director challenged. "We never knew you were the majority shareholder. You never attended any board meetings. And now you suddenly appeared and declared to fire Leonard. This is outrageous."

"It was Leonard who built and sustained this company," the other one added. "Even if you are the majority shareholder, you can’t act unilaterally. You need the board’s approval."

"We support him," all echoed in unison.

Mila was confused and worried. She had not thought everyone would turn against her.

Bianca smirked sneakily. ’Mila is still as impulsive and stupid as before,’ she thought. ’Defeating her isn’t tough.’

She stepped forward, feigning concern. "Mila, just go home. Don’t humiliate yourself like this. You don’t know the company’s affairs. Stay out of it, and let us handle it."

Leonard seized the moment. "Enough of this nonsense," he barked. "She is only creating trouble here. Security."

Two guards rushed in.

Leonard pointed at Mila. "Throw her out."

The guards began to move forward.

Valentina stepped in front of Mila instantly. "Touch her, and you won’t leave this room alive," she warned.

The guards halted.

Leonard’s face darkened. "Stop this drama," he snapped at Mila. "You have caused enough embarrassment. Leave now, or I’ll call the police."

The situation was spiraling.

Mila exhaled, gripping Valentina’s hand lightly, pulling her back.

"Stay calm," she murmured.

In the meantime, two men walked in. "Not a single person here has the right to ask her to leave."

The voice cut through the chaos.

Every head turned. The moment they recognized who it was, murmurs filled the room.

It was the CEO of the Nexon Group and his assistant.

"Alex Jones? Why is he here?

"No idea..."

"What’s his relationship with this woman?"

Even Mila was stunned. She had not expected him to be here.

Leonard blinked in shock. "Mr. Jones? What are you doing here?"

Alex’s gaze briefly flicked toward Mila, then back to Leonard. "The Nexon Group agreed to collaborate with Vega Bio Corp for one reason," he said evenly. "Miss Mila. If she isn’t accepted, this partnership ends."

The words dropped like a bomb. The room erupted into hushed panic.

The directors exchanged frantic glances.

Breaking ties with Nexon Group? That would cripple the company.

No one was willing to take that risk.

"We... accept Miss Mila’s authority," one director said quickly.

"Yes, of course," another added. "We support her decision."

The shift was immediate.

Leonard stared at them, disbelief turning into rage. "How could you do this to me?" he shouted. "After everything I’ve done, you betray me like this?" 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚

His eyes burned into Mila. "She can’t run this company. She’ll destroy it."

Mila then held up a bunch of documents and threw them across the table.

"Take a closer look," she shouted.

Papers scattered.

"This company is already suffering under you," she said sharply. "First, you relied on Shaw Group. Then Nexon. And all this time, you’ve been embezzling company funds."

The room fell silent again. Directors scrambled to read the reports. Shock deepened into disbelief.

Leonard’s face went pale. "This is fake," he snapped. "She fabricated everything."

"They are genuine," Mila said firmly. "Every single one."

She squared her shoulders and said sternly, "You are dismissed. Effective immediately."

She turned to the guards. "Remove him."

The guards grabbed his arms and dragged him out.

"Let go of me," Leonard struggled, his voice echoing through the room. "Mila. You’ll regret this. I’ll make you pay."

His voice faded as he was dragged out.

Bianca stood frozen for a moment. She shot Mila a venomous glare before storming out after him.

Silence descended.

One of the directors cleared his throat. "We... apologize, Miss Mila."

Others followed quickly. "We were mistaken."

"But..." another added cautiously, "without a CEO, the company may face instability."

Mila said calmly, "I’ll appoint a capable CEO soon."

She leaned over the table slightly. "I also have another announcement. I’m building a research team to develop a breakthrough treatment for glioblastoma. It’s one of the most aggressive brain cancers. Patients barely get time. I want to change that."

Emotion flickered in her eyes.

Her mother died because of it. Mila wouldn’t let others go through the same loss.

"That’s... admirable," a director said.

"You have our full support."

Alex stepped forward. "Nexon Group will fund this project," he said. "And once the treatment is developed, we’ll handle global distribution."

Everyone clapped.

Mila grinned. She was hopeful that she would finally be able to fulfil her mother’s dream.

As the meeting ended, the directors left.

Mila turned to Alex. "Thank you," she said sincerely. "If you hadn’t come at the right moment, I wouldn’t have been able to handle the situation."

He smiled lightly. "Don’t thank me. Mr. Russo asked me to."

Mila finally understood it was Dominic who had been helping her. Her chest swelled with emotion.

Alex said he could help her find the new CEO.

Mila was grateful and gave him the responsibility of finding the CEO.

Alex continued, "I can also help you find a suitable CEO."

Mila nodded gratefully. "I’d appreciate that."

"Consider it done."

With that, he left.

Once they were alone, Valentina looked at Mila. "What’s next?"

Mila’s expression changed. The softness disappeared, replaced by something sharp.

"I’m going home to the Vega mansion. That house belonged to my mother. They’ve lived there long enough. Now it’s their turn to leave."
