The Devil Who Claimed Me

Everyone gathered in the parking lot.

"Tell me what happened there," Dominic said grimly. "You all said the mission was almost successful. Then how did this fall out? How did Lucas get hurt?"

"It’s Mr. Lee," all echoed in unison.

Dominic frowned. "Don’t shout together. One of you, tell me everything clearly."

A guard stepped up. "Everything was going according to plan. They almost handed over Jiang to us, while our undercover team encircled Marco. We are ready to catch him. Then everything changed."

After a moment of pause, he added, "Mr. Lee deceived us. He shot down everyone beside him. We are all shocked. We thought it was our secret plan to take Marco down. But in reality, it was a trap to kill you."

Dominic’s ears buzzed, his mind reeling from shock.

"Mr. Lee was working for Marco," the man continued. "He faked Jiang’s kidnapping—just to trap us."

Dominic’s jaw tightened, then flexed again, anger blazing beneath the surface. He had believed he was the one setting a trap for Marco. But Mr. Lee had been right there among them, posing as an ally, learning every detail of their plan, only to betray them in the end.

"But the good thing is they don’t know Lucas replaced you and led the operation," the guard continued. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞

He held out a black mask. "He wore this the entire time. No one suspected a thing."

Dominic took the mask from him. It was the same one he used during missions—a devil mask, made of matte black, sculpted in a sharp, intimidating form.

Dried blood stained the surface.

Dominic brushed over the stain, a storm brewing inside him. "You mean, they didn’t know it wasn’t me."

"Yes, boss."

A dangerous smile danced on Dominic’s lips. It was the same again. "Let them think I was shot. Spread the news that I’m critical."

The guards looked at each other, confused.

"Increase Lucas’s security," Dominic continued.

"Yes, boss," all said in unison.

"They may come to the hospital and try to hurt him," he added grimly. "This time, I don’t want any mistakes."

"We won’t fail again," they said in determination.

"Now, tell me—where is that bastard Lee?" Dominic’s tone sharpened. "I want to punish him with my own hands."

Another guard stepped forward and said, "We don’t know where Mr. Lee is. But I just got some intel about Jiang."

He held out his phone and showed Dominic a photograph. "He just entered the Blue Velvet nightclub."

Dominic took the phone, his pupils narrowing as he watched Jiang enter the nightclub.

"Let him enjoy for a while. After tonight, he wouldn’t be able to enjoy life." Shoving the phone back to the guard, he jumped into his car and drove away.

A few men followed him, while others remained at the hospital.

Dominic arrived at Blue Velvet. His face concealed behind the mask, he looked around, searching for Jiang.

Loud music pulsated. The air was thick with the smell of alcohol and tobacco. Some were lounging on the sofas while others swayed to the rhythm of the music.

Dominic glanced at his men and subtly signaled to seal the club. The guards nodded at him slightly before dispersing in different directions.

Dominic moved carefully, sneakily checking the velvet booths. In one of the booths, he noticed Jiang lounging like a king.

His arm draped around a woman, who leaned into him. He laughed loudly at something the woman said.

Another woman sat down beside him, offering him a glass of expensive liquor.

Jiang took the glass, his fingers lingering on her a moment longer. He was completely at ease, carefree, indulging. He had no idea death had already walked through the door.

The music didn’t stop. The lights didn’t flicker. But one by one, the exits were sealed.

Dominic’s men moved like shadows.

Bouncers disappeared without a sound. Guards were subdued before they could react. Every entrance, every corridor, every hidden passage was locked down.

Inside the booth, Dominic stepped forward and pointed the gun at Jiang.

"Ahh..." both women screamed.

"Get out," Dominic barked.

Two women scrambled to their feet and ran out.

Jiang remained frozen in his place. The glass slipped from his fingers and shattered on the floor.

Dominic’s presence was heavy and suffocating. The black devil mask covered his face. The curved horns cast sharp silhouettes, and the narrow eye slits revealed nothing but a chilling, unreadable gaze.

Jiang’s mind screamed at him to take the gun out of his pocket and shoot at him. But he didn’t dare to flex a muscle.

"No," he whispered with a mix of shock and disbelief.

He thought Dominic was dead. But he was standing right in front of him.

"How is this possible?"

Before Jiang could even react, Dominic lunged forward and grabbed him, dragging him out of his seat. Within seconds, Jiang was forced to his knees.

Cold handcuffs snapped around his wrists. A gun pressed against his forehead.

Dominic crouched in front of him like a predator.

Jiang’s breath came out in short, panicked bursts. His eyes darted wildly, trying to make sense of the nightmare unfolding in front of him.

Dominic tilted his head slightly, the faintest hint of amusement in the movement.

"Disappointed to see me alive?"

Jiang’s throat bobbed. Fear crawled up his spine, cold and suffocating.

"You were enjoying yourself because you thought I was dead," Dominic continued. "But I am right here."

His expression darkened. "You have forgotten that killing the devil is not easy. Yet you dared to betray me. Now, who will save you from me?"

Jiang trembled. His mind raced as he wished someone would come and save him. His gaze moved toward the door. He wanted to scream and call for help. But fear silenced him completely.

Dominic’s gaze hardened behind the mask. "Where is your father?"

Jiang clenched his jaw, forcing whatever courage he had left to the surface. "I don’t know."

The lie had barely left his mouth before Dominic’s fist slammed into his face.

A sickening crack echoed.

Jiang’s head snapped to the side, blood instantly spilling from his lips. Before he could recover from the pain, another blow landed on his face.

Dominic continued hitting him again and again, each blow precise and brutal.

Pain tore through him. Jiang cried out, his body trembling. His resistance shattered piece by piece.

"I ask you again," Dominic roared. "Tell me, where is he?"

Jiang was in pain, but he refused to break down. "I-I am telling you the truth. I don’t know where he is."

Dominic’s patience snapped. "Alright." He nodded. "Since you don’t know anything about him, you are useless to me."

He grabbed his hair and forced his head up, the gun pressing harder against his forehead. "I’ll kill you right away."

Jiang’s eyes widened when he watched Dominic’s finger curl around the trigger. His defiance crumbled. His vision blurred with tears and blood.

He didn’t want to die.

"Wait, don’t kill me," he cried out. "I know where he is."

Dominic stilled.

Jiang choked, broken completely. "I’ll give you everything... just spare me..."

"Speak," Dominic muttered. His hold around the gun was still firm.

"He is at his secret base. I can take you there."
