- Chapter 1: Selling Your Own Daughter?
A knock sound barely reached Sienna’s sleeping mind.
Then came another knock.
"Miss Adams."
A distant voice followed.
Sienna frowned slightly in her sleep.
"Miss Adams."
This time, the voice sounded clearer and closer.
Slowly, her eyes fluttered open.
The bright white light above immediately made her squint painfully. Her neck ached terribly from sleeping in such an awkward position, and her entire body felt stiff and heavy.
She looked up. For a few seconds, while trying to adjust her vision, she noticed two men standing in front of her.
One was the same police officer from earlier. And the other, a man wearing a dark, expensive-looking suit with a fashionably matching tie.
Sienna blinked repeatedly before quickly sitting up straighter.
Her hair had become messy from sleeping against the table, so she hurriedly pushed it back behind her ears.
"Yes, sir?" she asked hoarsely.
The officer stepped slightly aside. "This man requested to speak with you. He said he’s a lawyer."
Then he gestured toward the suited man, who moved forward with an undeniably calm and confident demeanor and sat across from her.
Sienna stared at the stranger carefully.
He looked middle-aged, perhaps in his early fifties. He wore glasses and carried an expensive leather briefcase neatly in one hand. His suit was perfectly pressed. Even if the cop didn’t say who he was, she could tell he was a lawyer.
But she had never seen him before. Why did he suddenly want to meet her?
’Did Ava send him to help me?’ she wonders, remembering the text she sent to Ava earlier about her situation.
"Excuse me... Who are you?" She asked hesitantly.
Instead of answering her right away, he offered her a polite smile before adjusting his glasses.
"Miss Adams," he began calmly, "allow me to introduce myself. I am attorney Mr. Benjamin Foster—"
The moment that name entered her ears, Sienna felt her stomach tighten violently.
’Benjamin Foster...’ Her fingers slowly curled tightly against her lap beneath the table.
She stared at the man in silence, confusion and uneasiness growing inside her chest.
’Why would Benjamin’s lawyer see me?’
The man sat across from her and calmly opened his briefcase as he continued speaking. "I’m simply here to convey my client’s kindness toward you."
His words were enough to further confuse her.
"What do you mean?" Sienna asked carefully.
The lawyer removed a thick file from the briefcase and placed it neatly on the table between them.
"My client has decided to be generous despite his current condition," he explained smoothly. "He is willing to forgive you and withdraw the police report."
Sienna’s heartbeat instantly quickened.
’Withdraw the report!?’
She already knew Benjamin too well. Nothing from that man ever came without a price.
Before she could respond, the lawyer calmly pushed the file closer toward her.
"You simply need to agree to his request..." He said.
Sienna’s chest tightened immediately. Fear slowly crept into her exhausted body. Because deep down, she already knew exactly what Benjamin wanted from her.
The lawyer tapped the file lightly with his fingers. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
"You only need to sign this agreement," he said smoothly, "and you may leave freely tonight."
Sienna sat frozen in her chair, staring silently at the file lying on the table in front of her as if the papers themselves were poisonous.
Even without opening the file... She already knew Benjamin Foster was trying to trap her all over again.
Her hands slowly tightened beneath the table until her nails pressed painfully into her palms. She could barely feel it anymore.
At this point, exhaustion had spread through every part of her body so deeply that even pain felt distant. Her head throbbed. Her eyes burned. And her thoughts no longer moved properly.
Maybe she was too tired to think clearly now. Maybe her mind had already reached its limit after everything that had happened today: Benjamin forced himself on her, sent her to the police station, the endless questioning, sitting alone in this cold room for hours while nobody answered her calls—everything had piled up until her entire body felt emotionally numb.
Yet, despite the numbness, one feeling remained sharp in her chest: anger.
Slowly, Sienna lowered her gaze back toward the file and saw the content.
’Marriage agreement...’
Just reading those words again made her stomach twist violently.
For several seconds, she genuinely wondered whether Benjamin Foster was insane.
’No... he is not insane, but worse. That man was a complete savage. An arrogant narcissist who truly believed everything in this world belonged to him if he wanted it badly enough.’
Sienna feels better after venting her frustration to herself.
’Marriage? What a shameless man! I should hit him harder to crack his skull... I shouldn’t hold back.’
The lawyer across from her remained calm and patient, sitting comfortably in his expensive suit as he waited for her answer.
Meanwhile, the police officer standing near the door looked increasingly restless with every passing second.
The silence inside the interrogation room became suffocating.
Then suddenly, the officer cleared his throat. "Miss Adams," he said carefully, breaking the silence at last. "May I make a suggestion?"
Sienna slowly lifted her exhausted eyes toward him.
Even moving her head felt heavy now.
Still, she gave a small nod.
The officer placed both hands against his belt before speaking again in a polite but firm tone. "You should accept the offer. There’s no other way to freedom."
Sienna stared at him quietly.
"It’s rare for someone in your circumstances to receive so much kindness from the victim while he was still fighting for his life due to your action," he continued. "Mr. Foster is willing to forgive you. That’s already very generous. Seldom happened. So take it."
’Victim!?’ The moment she heard that word, something sharp twisted painfully inside her chest.
She knew the police officer probably did not mean to hurt her with those words. He simply wanted to end the case quickly.
Sienna lowered her gaze immediately before the anger inside her eyes became too obvious.
