But honestly, nothing felt all right. Not when Benjamin’s blood was still fresh on the carpet. Not when the employees kept staring at her with horrified expressions.

And definitely not when one of the police officers approached her with handcuffs in his hand.

Sienna slowly lifted her eyes toward the officer. Her lips parted slightly, but no words came out. In the end, she only nodded weakly.

The ride to the station felt unbearably long.

Three hours and fifty minutes. That was how long she had been sitting there alone.

Nobody came except one officer who silently placed a bottle of water on the table before leaving again.

They refused to return her phone, no matter how many times she asked. She pleaded.

She sat quietly in the metal chair, staring at her intertwined fingers resting shakily on her thighs.

"How long will they keep me in the dark?" she muttered weakly. "How can I ask for help if they keep my phone?"

Her chest tightened painfully the moment Benjamin’s face appeared in her mind again—The way he cornered her. The way he grabbed her wrist. The disgusting feeling of his mouth forcing against hers.

Sienna quickly shut her eyes.

"No, Sienna," she whispered to herself. "You didn’t try to kill him. You defended yourself."

She repeated those words again and again like a lifeline. Because if she stopped believing that, she might completely fall apart.

Her gaze slowly lifted toward the tightly closed door again.

At this moment, she feels hunger twist painfully in her stomach. Her back ached from sitting too long, and exhaustion slowly crept into her.

She thought the police had forgotten about her.

But then a soft "Click" came from the door, and the door suddenly opened.

Sienna immediately straightened in her seat.

The words hit her chest heavily. She swallowed hard.
