Spirit Taming

"For now we will trust you. When these so called allies get here, you will stand as the ones to ensure there is not an incident. There will be a price to pay if you fail." the dwarf commander sensed that this was the truth. He felt that their survival relied on cooperation instead of stubborn ignorance.

"Mechanical golems must be outfitted with water proof armor. Fitters, begun preparing mechanical golem squadron seven. Armorers, begin dressing pilots with rubber trimmed suits. I want this done within the next ten minutes."

The order was roared over every single dwarf preparing. The sudden movement shook the ground making Jeorld wonder just how many golems were within this squadron he had just heard announced. "Human, tell us what else you know. We are preparing to combat the monster you said is water affinity. What else?"

Meanwhile, Clark was in the midst of battle. He could sense that he and Shy were causing a massive change. Many of the sessions of the shadow swarm centipede lay on the ground dead around them. Specifically because of the mechanical golems that had been there too.

When they had begun fighting side by side with Clark, they had been keeping some distance just out of basic common sense. Now that the dwarves piloting them had learned that Clark and Shy were fighting alongside them, they did not hold back.

When a monster section would come from behind, a mechanical golem or armored dwarf would defend Clark. When the same happened to them, a shadow thread would tie down the section and allow for the derives to take back the advantages they needed.

It caused the battle field to begin becoming graveyard of monster parts. Yet, they were not ending. Now there were larger sections with more pincers and more legs. A clear sign that the sections were coming back to the main body. That the head of the shadow swarm centipede was feeling the threat.

A burst of dark energy spread out causing everyone to brace themselves. Clark felt Devi warn him much more strongly than before. This wasn’t because Devi was unable to fight beside him, it was because he had spotted the monster that they were trying to kill. The monster that Devi was attempting to reach and fight as well.

The dark energy was thicker around here making it harder to see in front of them, but Clark had the benefits of Crim’s dragon energy, Shy’s shadow energy, and Devi’s unique soul and death energy. His body was tempered in ways that no other person’s was. Therefore, his eyes easily adjusted to the environment around them.

He could see it, the partial body of the shadow swarm centipede attempting to reattach to some of the larger sections of its body that it had called over. But there were issues.

The sections were damaged due to the sudden change in battle against the dwarves. They had been pushed together by Clark which caused the monster’s body parts more damage. On top of this, it had exhausted a significant amount of dark energy to attack two major enemies. The moving mining city and now the dwarven base.

Every single wall had fought against the breaking of it. Multiple mechanical golems of various forms had been defeated but left their marks. Every dwarf that had died fighting had not died while leaving behind an opponent without a scratch on them. No, there was plenty of damage to weaken this powerful monster.

Plenty of sections of its body had been destroyed. They could never reform and the ones that could were still damaged. Some were in such poor shape that they were forced to remain in the section state that they were. The main body could not properly attach them to itself. This was just another weakness that it now had. Especially since they would constantly bleed away more of its energy.

"I am going in. Please support me with the ballistas." Clark spoke loudly enough to the largest mechanical golem nearby. He could tell it was a caption of sorts. All the other mechanical golems and dwarves naturally moved around it. So much so that anyone would be able to pick it out as special. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦

The dwarves did not hesitate to begin their moves. Clark had managed to dash closer in to the darkness which was shocking to them. Yet, they sensed the chaotic energies radiating from him. They could feel an oppression that was greater than most of their higher quality mechanical golems. Even the centurion was something that had limits. They felt a more dangerous energy from Clark right now.

This death energy that made its appearance was something Clark was still struggling with. As was Devi. It was a dangerous energy that could be a double sided sword. It could both harm them as well as enemies. But as Clark fell in to the flowing storms moving meditation, he felt it click better.

Whether it was the darker environment which surprisingly boosted the shadow energy that Shy gave him, or the fact that Clark had been able to destroy multiple parts of this monster for the past few hours. He had a greater grasp of the energy now wrapping him and the lunar storm spear.

The damaged sections charged at him as the monsters sensed the approaching threat. The large head that had also focused on him chattered its pincers together while controlling its sections from a distance.

What Clark could tell from where he was, the head had long antenna. They were able to send out more dark energy to the sections which were how it controlled them. Its pincers were also serrated and much sharper looking. That was also besides the intimidating eyes. All six of them glaring ahead with a solely predatory gaze.

None of this pushed Clark’s mentality down though. While he knew that the smaller form of this monster was still dangerous, he felt that he was greater. His bond with Crim was telling him this. Crim was a noble dragon. Whether he had begun as a slime dragon of all sorts, it did not matter. A dragon was greater than any insect or monster that looked like one. A natural reaction in a drgasin’s existence.

This mentality allowed Clark to effortlessly slash and cut apart the weak points of the attacking monster sections. He could use the analysis to spot the weakest aspects of their carapaces. Only a few had little damage, but that was still enough. An opening for him to slash and pierce his spear through their bodies.

The sudden screech that came when Clark noticed bolts being fired at the darkest area proved that the dwarves were smart. They had caught on that the shadow swarm centipede was hiding in the darkest area. Now, they used that to shoot bolts to harm it more.

Small sections of the attached body of the shadow swarm centipede were broken. This forced it to exert even more dark energy trying to get more of its body back. Unfortunately for it, Devi had seen a weak point and bit down.

The sudden decrease in soul energy affected the monster much more than what it would have expected. Devi also ensured that he was biting down on the weakest looking sections. In turn, the dark energy controlling the unattached sections was disrupted.

As a result, the sections went berserk. Attacking even the monsters that dwarves had been turned in to by the unknown water monster using the demonic potion on them. This produced more openings for bolts to pierce the carapace of the true body monster.

Yet, Clark saw that the monster had realized its life was actually at risk. As many beasts would, it played its instincts. This made the head detach again and begin to rush away. Clark knew this was a self saving attitude that a beast with a swarm might have, it could regrow the sections. But couldn’t regrow the precious brain that controlled everything.

Channeling more energy in to the lunar storm spear, Clark imagined it to be a flailing moon. One wrapped in a storm of energies impossible to distinguish. He felt that this image was what he needed in his mind as he pulled his arm back. As he took a deep breath.

As he released all that energy in a grunted throw. The air grew dense. Clark had forced a very high amount of energy from his partner in to the spear when he threw it. The crackling of lighting around the spear also proved that it had been able to gather enough energies to be even more devastating over the course of the battle.

As the spear flew through the air, the air itself was heavy. Like it had slowed what every dwarf was watching, those that could see it that was. But in that flash of lighting, there had been something impossible to happen. Something that could not have been done as the battle had started.

The shadow swarm centipede sections collapsed without the energy they needed. Immediately, the dark energy had been forced to dissipate letting sunlight return to the plateau entirely. The ruins might have been terrifying, but the dwarves here were still alive. They could rebuild their walls.
