After cutting all the ropes binding Joyce’s hands and feet, Melody carefully helped her up. "Can you walk?" she said. "We need to get out of here now!"

Joyce Lawson nodded and struggled to move, preparing to get off the bed.

Having been tied up for two full days, Joyce’s limbs were numb. She was unsteady, and the moment her feet touched the floor, she nearly collapsed to her knees.

Melody rushed forward to steady her, silently cursing out the entire Sutton family in her mind.

’The Suttons call themselves high society, a noble family, yet they’d stoop to something like kidnapping. They’re nothing but lawless thugs!’

Melody supported Joyce as they slowly made their way toward the door, only to run into someone completely unexpected—

Looking at the pale, slender woman before them, Melody blurted out, "Joanne White? What are you doing here?!"

Joanne White stared back at Melody and Joyce in equal surprise. She had only meant to come out for a glass of water, never expecting to walk in on a scene like this.

A second before Joanne could scream, the cold steel of a dagger was already pressed against her throat.

Melody held the sharp dagger, her eyes fixed on Joanne. She lowered her voice, her tone laced with threat and warning. "Joanne White, you’d better keep your mouth shut. If you dare to scream, you’ll bear the consequences."

Feeling the cold steel against her neck, Joanne was filled with terror. She swallowed nervously and stammered, "I—I won’t scream. Please, don’t kill me..."

Seeing that Joanne was cooperating, Melody paused for a moment before ushering both her and Joyce back into the room they had just left.

As they entered the room, Joanne’s eyes immediately fell on Ethan Sutton, unconscious on the floor. Thinking he was dead, she gasped, barely managing to stifle the scream that threatened to erupt from her throat.

Seeing her reaction, Melody closed the door and said, "Relax. He’s not dead, just knocked out. He’ll be unconscious for twenty-four hours."

Joanne trembled at her words. ’Twenty-four hours?! Even a hard blow to the back of the head shouldn’t knock someone out for that long! What on earth happened to Ethan Sutton?!’

This thought terrified Joanne. Her voice trembling on the verge of tears, she pleaded, "Please, Melody Summers, let me go! I—I’ll pretend I never saw you. Just let me go!"

Melody just smiled. She lightly tapped the flat of the blade against Joanne’s cheek. "Don’t be nervous," she murmured. "As long as you answer my questions honestly, I won’t hurt you."

Feeling the chill on her cheek, Joanne trembled slightly. Her face was a mask of terror as she whispered, "Okay, ask... Anything I know, I’ll tell you everything."

Melody nodded, satisfied. "That day at the Nimbus Hotel," she began, "why did you act as a go-between for the Lancasters? What’s your relationship with Sylvia Lancaster?"

Staring into Melody’s cold eyes, Joanne didn’t dare hide anything. She gritted her teeth and said in a low voice, "It was Sylvia Lancaster who contacted me. She wanted me to connect her with Mr. Simmons... to arrange for him to meet his old flame..."

"I didn’t want to agree, but I don’t know how... she knew so many things I’d done in the past. She even knew that I used to cyberbully you, but I’d never even met her before..."

"She threatened me. She said if I didn’t help her, she’d publicize everything and make sure I could never marry Zane Simmons..."

Melody listened silently to Joanne’s story, growing more certain. ’Sylvia Lancaster must have been reborn, too.’

Only the Sylvia from her past life would have known so much about Joanne’s past. After all, the two of them had been ’good friends’ for a time in that life.

Once she understood this, Melody asked another question. "What exactly happened after you left the Nimbus Hotel? How did you become this so-called ’Goddess’? And what’s the deal with this Mr. Caelus?"
