Lu Yun soothed Wu Xiuyu with a smile, then smiled at Liu Jinli.

"Liu Jinli, I really didn’t know that my parents were so concerned about the long distance to school that they didn’t want me squeezing on the bus every day, which is why they specifically asked Uncle Xu to pick me up and drop me off. How is it that the heartfelt care of parents for their child becomes something shameful when it reaches your lips?"

"You’re lying. If that person is really a driver hired by your parents, why do you call him ’Uncle’?"

Liu Jinli was taken aback, panicked for a moment. But then she shook her head, unwilling to believe that this plainly dressed and unremarkable student in front of her could actually have a car arranged for her, with a driver specifically hired to pick her up and drop her off.

Wu Xiuyu laughed heartily, feeling a sense of relief as if a weight of resentment had finally lifted from her heart.

"What ’you’?" Wu Xiuyu scornfully glared at Liu Jinli and said, "If you didn’t use your toes to think up those disgusting thoughts and instead used your brain a little, you wouldn’t have had such perverted ideas.

Don’t you know where we are studying? The graduates from B University have always been able to secure quite decent jobs, and the prospects after graduation are almost limitless.

Additionally, Lu Yun was the top scholar of their province; she started with a higher baseline than us. Any person with a bit of sense would never ruin their future for instant gratification, right?"

Wu Xiuyu glanced at the surrounding classmates and continued loudly, "Only those with dark hearts would always like to measure others with such filthy thoughts. We are simply ashamed to be associated with such people."

"Exactly, that’s the truth."

The other students, including those who were still somewhat doubtful about Lu Yun, upon hearing Wu Xiuyu’s words, couldn’t help but nod in agreement, looking at Liu Jinli with disdain. Those who were close to her even instinctively stepped back, as if she were something dirty.

Liu Jinli’s face turned ashen.

Wu Xiuyu gave her a dismissive glance and turned back to Lu Yun, resuming their conversation. The complete defeat of Liu Jinli lifted her spirits. While talking to Lu Yun, her lips often curled up into a smile. Seeing her happy, Lu Yun couldn’t help but smile as well.

In the end, Wu Xiuyu couldn’t resist pulling Lu Yun aside to whisper and divulge how Liu Jinli had "tricked" her before, then pouted.

"That person is two-faced, but her tactics are formidable. Today, I don’t know why she’s so weak in a fight? But just watch; it won’t be long before she finds a way to make everyone forget this embarrassing incident."

"That’s the most she can do; she won’t be able to cause much of a stir. Don’t bother with her."

Upon hearing this, Lu Yun suddenly realized there was such a backstory to Wu Xiuyu’s dislike for Liu Jinli. Indeed, everything in this world has its causes and effects.

Lu Yun smiled at Wu Xiuyu’s description of Liu Jinli’s formidable tactics and didn’t take it to heart.

In the short exchange, Lu Yun discovered that Wu Xiuyu had good self-regulation abilities and was simple-minded, not the kind that overthinks. Being with someone like her felt comfortable, without the need for overthinking. Thus, she suddenly felt the desire to develop a "bestie" relationship, a thought that had never occurred to her in two lifetimes.

The two of them chatted back and forth, the conversation growing more animated.

The others around them paused before continuing to chat in low voices, dispersing as if nothing had happened.

Aside from Liu Jinli, who was ignored by everyone and stood there with reddened eyes, looking endlessly "wronged" and out of place with the rest, everything seemed as if nothing had happened.

At seven o’clock sharp, everyone had arrived, and the coach arrived on time.

This was a rare collective activity with all thirty-five people from the class in attendance, with not a single person absent today.

As they loaded their belongings onto the bus, the coach had enough seats. Wu Xiuyu pulled Lu Yun aboard first, and they chose a middle seat to sit together, "I get motion sickness, so sitting in the middle section of the bus is best for me."

Wu Xiuyu felt like she had met Lu Yun too late, so when she was with her, she couldn’t help but talk a lot.

"If you get motion sickness, try this," Lu Yun reached into her shoulder bag, actually taking out a small white jade bottle from her space and opened it.

"What is this, motion sickness medicine? This bottle is so cute, how come it’s transparent? Look at the pills inside the bottle, you can see them from the outside?" Wu Xiuyu exclaimed as if she had discovered a new continent.

"Why are you looking at the bottle when I’m giving you medicine? It’s a secret formula from my family, after you take it, you won’t have to worry about motion sickness," Lu Yun rolled her eyes and directly grabbed Wu Xiuyu’s hand, pouring three green bean-sized pills into her palm.

"Really?" Wu Xiuyu exclaimed with surprise and delight, swallowing all three pills in one go without hesitation.

"They’re actually sweet? Lu Yun, you didn’t give me sugar pills to trick me, did you?" Wu Xiuyu couldn’t help feeling a bit disappointed. Where in the world could there be pills that completely cure motion sickness?

Lu Yun just looked at her and smiled.

She was indeed tricking her, how could she seem so gullible? Wu Xiuyu pouted but soon cheered up again, "Your candy is really sweet. It’s just a bit too small, isn’t satisfying enough to eat?"
