Raising Yanderes to save the world

Chapter 89: Ch 88: New Addition

Chapter 89

Seraphina was in a weird mood. She was not sure what she was supposed to feel, but she was sure that it was not this feeling of disappointment and agitation.

Kael had handed her a kid to look after, and Seraphina should feel honored to help him out.

But somehow....

’I don’t like seeing Kael look at someone with that tender expression on his face. The only one he should be looking at like that is me.’

Ugly thoughts were filling Seraphina’s head along with a need for her to eliminate the threat to her position.

However, the fact that Kael had trusted her to look after someone made her pause and regain her senses.

So she made sure she took good care of the kid on their way back. But then Kael decided to go ahead and take the kid from her.

It left her feeling empty, almost as if she had somehow failed him, and she felt hollow on the inside.

’None of this would have happened if that intruder had not decided to cause trouble. He is selfish and inconsiderate. Moreover, don’t you feel that there is something odd about him? He feels like a threat.’

Her inner voice had never been so vocal before, and Seraphina did not know whether she agreed with that voice or not.

She wanted to chase Roku away, but surely killing him was not the right answer.

Moreover, if Kael were to find out...it won’t be good.

It made her roam around the mansion without a care in the world, and all Seraphina wanted to do was close her eyes and wake up to see that everything had gone back to normal.

She did not realize how long she had been walking around as more and more thoughts of violence filled her mind.

She was even beginning to have visions, and she blinked as she saw Kael standing in front of her. But the real Kael was currently with Roku, making Seraphina feel alone.

Once again, rage and annoyance filled her from the inside, and despite knowing that it was not right, she felt jealous of that kid once more.

"Seraphina, are you alright?"

Kael’s voice sounded soft, and he even reached out to touch her hand. His hand felt warm and solid and just so real...

’Oh! He’s real! I...I need to answer him. But what can I say? What am I supposed to say to him?’

"Huh...what...was I doing? Why am I standing out here? I..."

This was the worst thing Seraphina could have said, but somehow, these words were out of her mouth before she could stop herself.

Kael had a worried look on his face as he looked her up and down, and it immediately made Seraphina feel better.

Not that she wanted Kael to always feel worried...

But the fact that he cared about her made Seraphina feel calmer.

"Ah, are you sick? Let me check...hmm, you don’t seem to have a fever. But we cannot rule anything out yet. Come with me. Let’s get you checked out more thoroughly."

Kael extended his hand toward Seraphina, and she wasted no time in clutching it. Nothing else mattered to her right now other than spending time with Kael.

She even forgot all about Roku and her jealousy toward the kid as she exited with him.

’I guess we can forget about that kid...for now. How lucky~ He gets to live another day.’

Seraphina’s mind whispered, but she was too busy engaging with Kael to pay it much attention.

__________

Kael was worried to see Seraphina roaming the halls without any idea of where she was headed. But it turned out to just be a coincidence.

Both her physical and mental tests came back as normal, which indicated that she was healthy. So Kael chalked her behavior up as a one-time thing and decided not to do anything about it.

The next day’s breakfast was a little tense as Roku joined them.

Leon and Lyra were busy pretending they did not even know that the kid was there, and Seraphina tried her best to help Roku. Iris showed a neutral front by neither trying to help the kid nor saying anything against him.

But the real chaos started after breakfast when Kael told everyone else that he would be working with Roku today.

As expected, Leon was the first one to protest.

"I don’t agree with this. I told you that we should be careful around that ’thing’. Don’t allow it to roam around as it pleases."

Leon had never advocated for anything this strongly before, and Kael almost felt obligated to follow his demand...before he realized that Leon was talking about a living being.

Honestly, he got Leon’s sentiment. The corruption was making it hard for even Kael to like Roku, but he was working on it. And as the hero, Leon also needed to work through issues like these.

"Leon, there is no need to be so aggressive. If you are not going to say anything nice, then don’t speak."

Iris took charge and scolded Leon.

She was mature enough to know that there was a time and place to get annoyed and show it, so she tried to mediate for Leon.

But he ignored her and went back to eating.

Kael decided to put an end to this by not following what Leon wanted him to do.

"I am going to take Roku out today to get supplies, and that is final. You all should start practicing once more. Leon, I will also arrange monster-hunting training for you."

Kael decided to distract Leon with something else so that he would not cause trouble for this kid.

His actions worked, and Leon did not say anything else regarding this topic. Instead, his eyes shined with the knowledge that he would finally go out for monster hunting.

Roku had not said anything during that whole exchange. The kid had zoned out, but the surging corruption inside him told Kael that he understood that he was not wanted here.

Luckily, Kael’s seal was far from breaking.

Kael noticed Seraphina looking at him quietly from the other side of the table, and he felt compelled to question her.

"Seraphina, do you need to tell me something?"

The saintess in question jumped at Kael’s question and quickly shook her head.

"N-No! I don’t need to ask anything. I just...should I come with you as well? For the shopping. You did hand Roku’s responsibility to me."
