Chapter 79: Trading

After receiving the gym badge, Ash and the others were not in a hurry to leave, but chose to stay for a few more days for two reasons: one was to freeload off Gary, who was traveling and had booked a nice hotel; the other was because Ash sensed a powerful Aura deep within Cinnabar Island.

This Aura was similar to the Zapdos he had sensed earlier at the abandoned power plant in Vermilion City. As expected, there was a Legendary Pokémon in the volcano of Cinnabar Island.

Ash guessed that this one should be Moltres, one of the First Generation Starters. He remembered that Blaine was once saved by Moltres during a mountain climbing trip. (Game version of Blaine)

Gary secretly approached Ash and asked, "Ash, do you have a channel to acquire super evolution stones?"

Ash glanced at him and asked, "What do you want to do?"

"Help me get two, no matter the cost!" Gary pleaded.

"Why don’t you ask your grandpa? Why are you looking for me?"

Ash was very confused by Gary’s behavior. He could indeed draw super evolution stones using the system, but Gary obviously had Professor Oak as his backer, so there was no need to look for him!

"I’ve contacted Grandpa. The research data on Mega Evolution is not yet complete. Even Dr. Platane from the Kalos region has difficulty collecting super evolution stones for research, let alone the Blastoise or Scizor super evolution stones I need."

There was also one he picked up from Steelix and the Altaria super evolution stone that was currently idle.

Ash could tell from Moltres’s size that this Moltres had not yet truly matured; a truly mature Moltres would be at least 2 meters tall.

However, even without being fully grown, this Moltres actually had the strength of an Elite Advanced, and its aptitude was also that of a Secondary God, which was more powerful than the Zapdos he had caught before.

"Moltres, I’m going to catch you!"

Ash shouted loudly at Moltres.

"Caw!"

Moltres, facing the incoming flames, showed no sign of fear and chose to meet the Flamethrower head-on with its own.
