Lin Feng did a quick calculation. Five Black Spine Zerg corpses could power the Land Patrol Battleship for one kilometer. While the cost seemed a bit high, Zerg Race corpses were a limitless, free source of energy. It was a shame to lose the Giant Mandibles, but other than that, it was no great loss.

Relying on small-scale skirmishes on the surface, killing just three or four at a time, would take forever.

Lin Feng currently had the strength to take on a dozen Tier Two Tiger Spine Zergs by himself, but he never got the chance to encounter that many at once.

There was only one way to speed up his Upgrades.

He had to take the initiative and venture deep into the Swarm’s Nest.

He had to hunt for Tiger Spine Zergs in the Underground caverns.

To do that, he first needed to arm his team so they could withstand a full-scale assault from a single Zerg Race Mother Empress. As long as they held the front line, it would create an opportunity for Lin Feng to push deep Underground and approach the Nest!

That would be the moment the tables turned!

This was the strategy Lin Feng planned to execute.

Of course, before all that, he needed a reliable Close Combat Weapon that he could bind as equipment and Upgrade all the way to Orange Quality, preparing him for the close-quarters battles to come in the caverns.

Just as Lin Feng was contemplating his plans for the coming weeks, the ten Heavy Machine Guns and the Machine Cannon on the Battleship suddenly opened fire on the sky.

RAT-TAT-TAT! Fiery tracers shot from the muzzles, accompanied by a rain of steel that swept the sky clean.

Chen Yanyan’s voice came from behind him.

"We’ve spotted Cyan-winged Zergs!"

He quickly spotted several Cyan-winged Zergs three or four kilometers away. They were hiding behind a building in the city, using it for cover as they secretly observed the sudden appearance of the human forces.

Lin Feng wasn’t about to ignore them. Seeing that the Heavy Machine Guns lacked the power to reach them, he switched his weapon to its Level 19 Grenade Cannon mode, locked onto their approximate location, and fired.

The blast, with power comparable to a 220mm howitzer, tore through the buildings. The resulting thermal shockwave instantly vaporized the fragile creatures.

Having taken out the Mother Empress’s "eyes," Lin Feng saw that nothing of value remained on the scorched suburban plain...

After confirming that the ground beneath them was clear, he gave the order to advance.

Since the Mother Empress chose to avoid a direct confrontation, he would take the initiative and force her hand.

The Land Patrol Battleship led the way, followed by Li Ran and the others in their thirty vehicles.

As the convoy passed through the suburbs and entered the city proper...

...they could see numerous Red-Armored Beetles and quite a few Black Spine Zergs lurking in street corners.

Lin Feng paid little mind to these stragglers, merely instructing his men to deal with them carefully with Shotguns. He warned them not to collapse any buildings and damage the vehicles; if shotguns weren’t working, they should use the Heavy Machine Guns.

Shen Jie took six vehicles and broke off from the main convoy.

He had the skills to handle Black Spine Zergs in close combat, and with fire support from two squads, he could easily deal with a Black Spine Zerg Swarm even if he encountered one in the city.

Soon enough, Shen Jie returned, his mission a success, bringing back the corpses of twenty Cyan-winged Zergs.

The dead Cyan-winged Zergs were laid in the beds of pickup trucks. A pair of Membrane Wings was hacked off each one and tossed into the rear entrance of the Battleship.

They were automatically deposited into the Storage Space.

Lin Feng had reserved fifty cubic meters of space to store other materials.

This was especially for the corpses of the rare Cyan-winged Zergs and other members of the Tier Two Zerg Race.

This scavenging run made Lin Feng acutely aware of the importance of Storage Space.

With eighteen pairs of Cyan Wing Zerg Membrane Wings left over, Lin Feng planned to use some on the Tank Replicas to create the Flying Wing Tanks first. He would use the remainder as rewards, fusing and upgrading them to create a batch of Red Profound Flying Armor.
