They hadn’t officially stepped onto the bridge yet, but the group’s dialogue was already enough to make Ji Wanwan cry and laugh at the same time.

However, there was clearly something off about the bridge.

Ji Wanwan pondered briefly, “Haozi, control a mass of earth and stone to smash into the water, the bigger the splash, the better!”

“Got it!” With their leader giving the order, Qi Hao charged forward without hesitation.

He jumped to the shore, and in no time, a building-sized boulder rose from the ground, soared high into the air, and then crashed back down heavily.

“Boom! Splash!”

The stone smashed into the water, creating a massive collision noise and splashes everywhere. If not for Ji Wanwan’s quick reflexes, using a Space Barrier to shield everyone, they would have been drenched by the splashing water.

The water surface rippled violently, but the undulations didn’t last long, and soon returned to calm.

“Nothing beneath the surface?”

Ji Xing, squinting at the riverbed, saw nothing and couldn’t help but question it.

As they looked at the calm river surface, the rest of the group exchanged bewildered glances.

They didn’t speak or make any movements, and time seemed to freeze following Xia Li’s sudden draw of her sword.

Zombie Hunters are extremely sensitive to zombies, so no one dared to doubt Xia Li’s words.

Everyone except Ming Jing.

Very faintly, Ji Wanwan felt a slight disturbance from deep underwater. She raised her hand, signaling everyone to get into formation, ready for group combat.

Before she could speak, Ming Jing suddenly moved.

“There’s clearly nothing in this water… Wah! Mama, mama, mama, an octopus monster!”

Just as Ming Jing was about to give up and lie down, the water surface suddenly erupted with a burst of splashes.

Accompanying the splashes, a soft and slimy mass surfaced; it looked like an octopus’ head, except this head had a human face on it.

The face caused a physiological discomfort for everyone present; it was disgustingly vile and utterly strange!

For survival underwater, the zombie had evolved three rows of gills on each cheek, as if someone had slashed three cuts on each side of the face, making it appear even more ferocious and terrifying.

This was the Intelligent Zombie Ming Jing had seen before, but at such a close range, he still couldn’t accept this hideous thing, feeling as if he was about to go blind.

Qi Hao was taken aback, “Crap, what the hell is this thing? It’s so ugly!”

Because of this remark, the octopus monster fixed its glaring gaze on the six people on the bridge.

Even though its blood-red eyes had no focal point, everyone still felt its rage.

Ming Jing continued to chatter, “Oh ho, this doesn’t look good! Can we still make a run for it?”

“Run?” Ji Xing sneered, while controlling six Flying Knives that aimed at the octopus monster’s head peeking out from the water, “Can’t you show a little spirit? It’s just an octopus monster! Watch me slice it into octopus sashimi, and make takoyaki balls for you to eat!”

“Ugh…” Imagining that scenario, Ming Jing was directly disgusted to the point of wanting to vomit, “Xingxing Zai, there’s really no need to torment me like this!”

The words irritated the octopus monster in the water.

A deathly silence fell all around, and Ji Wanwan sensed a malevolent energy rising up from beneath their feet.

“On guard!” Ji Wanwan shouted loudly.

The next second, everyone heard a “plop plop” sound coming from under their feet.

“What is this…?” Xu Siming frowned hesitantly, feeling that the sound was eerily familiar.

As the sound grew closer, Xu Siming remembered!

Suction cups!

It was the suction cups!

The sounds were made by the octopus monster’s tentacles suctioned onto the bridge’s pillar!!

“Watch out!!” Xu Siming shouted, and immediately encased the bridge beneath their feet in ice.

“Boom boom boom!”

The steel giant that was Liancheng Bridge broke in half, leaving only the section under Ji Wanwan and the others still standing.

If it weren’t for Xu Siming’s quick reaction, this section of the bridge along with its piers and deck would have been reduced to rubble as well.

With just one move, it wielded such tremendous power.

The team realized the strength of their opponent.

But Ji Wanwan was not afraid; they were many, and none were weak. United, they believed they could surely kill the octopus monster!

Following that ferocious attack, the suction sound abruptly stopped, and the river’s surface returned to calmness, as if the entire incident had been an illusion.

Qi Hao hesitated and walked toward the bridge railing.

Just as he moved, Xia Li, always on guard, uttered a low warning, “It’s still there, don’t get close to the railing!”

No sooner had she spoken than several hideous and disgusting octopus tentacles emerged from all directions, slithering and twisting across the bridge deck, seemingly intending to envelop them all.

At the same time, countless zombies sprung up like bamboo shoots after a rain on the river surface, most of whom had evolved gills for breathing underwater.

Seeing the densely packed zombies on the river, everyone felt a chill down their spines.

This was the horde of zombies Ming Jing had spoken about!

The tentacles moved quickly. With the octopus’s head now hidden, Ji Xing controlled six Flying Knives towards the tentacles.

“Bang bang bang bang!”

The loud clang of metal on metal echoed, and only then did Ji Wanwan realize that the seemingly soft tentacles were covered in a layer of thick scales.

These scales were as hard as iron, and ordinary knives, guns, and ammunition could not penetrate them.

Those severed tentacles, still retaining some Life Force, writhed towards their owner. Due to the Ice Seal, their movement was not fast.

Qi Hao, with less combat experience, reacted a beat slower, but he quickly caught up.

Xia Li quickly deduced the hiding spot of the octopus monster from the vanishing torn tentacles, jumped straight onto the ice surface, and dashed forward with rapid steps.

Ji Xing controlled the Flying Knives, finishing off the continuously approaching horde of zombies, preventing these minions from disrupting the battle rhythm.
