Apocalypse: I'm the Landlady of the Refuge

Liancheng had been completely rebuilt. As more and more people filled the base, smiles of happiness, once common before the apocalypse, began to bloom on everyone’s faces.

Ji Wanwan felt that it was time to expand the existing base to cover the entire Liancheng. However, since the matter was of great importance, it required careful preparation and deliberation to avoid sudden changes leading to chaos.

At this moment, there was still 1 day, 16 hours, 54 minutes, and 36 seconds left until the completion of the task. Ji Wanwan and the core members gathered in the waterside pavilion for the final meeting before the base expansion. The main purpose of the meeting was to determine personnel arrangements after expanding the base and internal management systems (passage principles) thereafter.

After discussing for an entire day, till late at night, they finally came to a decision on the arrangements for the core members.

Ji Xing was responsible for personnel placement, assisted by Ming Jing.

Father Ji and Mrs. Ji were in charge of restoring production at each of the farms, with Wang Youde assisting them.

Xu Siming was responsible for the restoration of the medical system, assisted by Wen Yuheng.

Zhou Kai was in charge of the restoration of light industry, selecting suitable personnel to manage each factory independently.

Xia Li was tasked with leading the Guard Team to patrol and defend the border between the two cities, and to immediately repair any breaches found.

The Lion Squad was responsible for internal security. If anyone caused trouble without reason or threatened the survivors’ safety, they had full authority to deal with them, regardless of life or death.

Considering that the expansion of the base would inevitably change the rules by which survivors lived within it, a survey had been conducted before the meeting. Every survivor living in the base could choose one or two types of jobs they wanted to do.

The options available for selection included:

Light industry, medical, guard duty, planting, animal husbandry, aquaculture, infrastructure, random.

To prevent an overload of personnel in one category or none in another, the questionnaire also included an option for "willingness to be reassigned."

According to the results displayed by the questionnaire, the relatively safe options of light industry, planting, and infrastructure had the most volunteers, while the most dangerous job, guard duty, had the fewest.

Based on these results, Ji Wanwan reestablished a set of survival rules within the base.

The completed housing within the base was divided into five levels based on quality:

First-class Room: standalone villas, accommodating 8-10 people, a total of 50, 2500 points per month

Second-class Room: large flats, accommodating 6-8 people, a total of 200, 1800 points per month

Third-class Room: high-end apartments, accommodating 4-5 people, a total of 1000, 1200 points per month

Fourth-class Room: standard apartments, accommodating 3-4 people, a total of 2000, 800 points per month

Fifth-class House: dilapidated small apartments, accommodating 2-3 people, a total of 1000, 500 points per month

Based on the dangerousness and difficulty of the jobs, the points that could be earned were:

Planting, animal husbandry, and aquaculture could earn each person 150-300 points per month, depending on their work.

Light industry could earn each person 200-350 points per month

Medical personnel can earn 300-400 points per month.

The Guard Team can earn 500-600 points per month.

In case of injury on duty, subsidies will be provided according to the severity of the injury. If someone completely loses their labor capacity, the base will provide basic living supplies on a monthly basis. If a member unfortunately dies on duty, the base will distribute 30,000 to 80,000 points to their relatives, depending on the cause of the sacrifice.

Besides these duties, the base also offers additional tasks, which are announced to the whole city via broadcast one day in advance. Those who want to earn a high number of points can go to the central building to register.

Life supplies within the base must be purchased by paying points. To enhance the sense of happiness, Liancheng Base also retains two high-end restaurants and three entertainment venues.

The high-end restaurants offer desserts, steaks, exquisite Chinese meals, and so on. The entertainment venues are KTV, a children’s playground, and a cinema.

Compared to ordinary life supplies, the consumption at high-end restaurants and entertainment venues is relatively expensive and not something you can go to whenever you wish.

Given the extensive range of Liancheng Base, 2000 electric bicycles have been deployed for free use, but under registered names. If a bicycle is damaged or lost, the registered user is responsible for compensation.

There is only one functioning hospital within the base, transformed from the former Liancheng City Center Hospital.

As there are not many doctors in the base, to avoid wasting medical resources, those injured while on duty can receive free medical treatment. People who are sick need to pay points to receive medical care, unless they are in genuine hardship, in which case they are given special consideration.

Such rules are applicable to ordinary survivors. As for Ji Wanwan and the core members, their benefits are naturally different.

When cleaning Liancheng, Zhou Kai discovered a refined and elegant manor near the second ring road.

This manor is not far from the central building and is surrounded by lush red maple forests, effectively isolating it from the hustle and bustle of the city, allowing for the convenience of city life as well as the tranquility of the mountains.

Having such a large plot of land in the prime Liancheng area and building such a refined manor indicates the owner’s extraordinary status, possible only for the richest in Liancheng.

Zhou Kai naturally didn’t want to miss out on such an excellent location and immediately told Ji Wanwan his idea.

The manor could house about a hundred people without a problem. If all the core members lived there, it would maintain their privacy and status while facilitating communication and also providing convenient access to the central building.

Furthermore, the manor is equipped with various entertainment facilities such as a cellar, wine cellar, orchard, flower garden, artificial lake, racetrack, audio-visual room, billiards room, swimming pool, and a small home theater, making it a perfect residence.

After giving it some thought, Ji Wanwan also agreed that having the core members live together was a good choice and immediately approved Zhou Kai’s proposal.

Of course, in contrast to the ordinary survivors, the manor, under the control of the System, is even more complete than the Inner City within the current base.

It has a high-end restaurant capable of preparing all kinds of delicacies, an independent and comprehensive armory, a state-of-the-art sterile surgery room, a monitoring room covering all of Liancheng, and a laboratory equipped with precise instruments.

Those qualified to reside in the manor can enjoy all the resources inside for free, including recreational and entertainment resources left by the original owner.

After discussion, the following individuals were determined eligible to reside in the manor: the Ji Family, Qi Hao and his family, Xu Siming, Zhou Kai, Xia Li, Ming Jing, Wang Youde, and Changsheng.

Due to the particular nature of their work, Wu Xun and his Lion Squad opted for a villa to live separately outside. Wen Yuheng, always accompanied by Hu Die, was also given a villa to reside outside on his own. However, they could also use the resources of the manor for free.

As the base had not yet officially expanded, these were just Ji Wanwan’s preliminary thoughts. Further improvements would be implemented gradually after the base’s expansion.
