Apocalypse: I'm the Landlady of the Refuge

"Roar!"

The next second, driven by their bloodthirsty instinct, the zombies lunged at Ji Wanwan and the other person.

"Ouch, I—"

Having just landed and unable to see clearly where they were, the two zombies pounced on them.

Ji Wanwan quickly conjured a Space Barrier out of instinct, enveloping herself and Xu Siming within.

"Thud!"

One of the zombies hit its head against the Space Barrier, creating a muffled sound, and sat down on the ground with a thump.

Inside the barrier, Ji Wanwan let out a sigh of relief, "That was close, I reacted quickly..."

It seemed that next time, they needed to scout the terrain before teleporting; otherwise, being sent right into a zombie's embrace would mean certain death.

Next to her, Xu Siming, with the Military Shovel in hand, was eager to try: "Junior sister, before these two zombies get up, retract the Space Barrier, I'll chop their heads off!"

The next second, the Space Barrier disappeared, and Xu Siming swiftly beheaded the two zombies.

These zombies were slow, and couldn't compare to those high-level zombies that evolved Crystal Cores in the late stages of the apocalypse; Ji Wanwan was almost certain these were just regular low-level zombies.

But with a rigorous attitude, she still put on gloves and reached her hand into the zombies' brains to search.

As expected, she didn't feel any hard Crystal Cores.

Ji Wanwan stood up with some disappointment and took off her gloves: "Let's go, check the parking lot to see if there is a car we can drive away."

Xu Siming, who was covering Ji Wanwan, tucked away his machete: "Okay."

Before the apocalypse, there were not many people at the resort, and on the way to the parking lot, they encountered only three low-level zombies, which Xu Siming took care of without Ji Wanwan even using her superpower.

The two were lucky to find an unlocked car after searching only a few vehicles.

The car still had half a tank of gas, more than enough to drive to their destination, Wanjiale Supermarket.

With the sound of the engine starting, the zombies hiding in the corners were all drawn out.

Among those zombies, Ji Wanwan saw a familiar figure—

Cheng Ya.

Not only that, she also noticed Cheng Ya's speed and agility were significantly higher than the other zombies.

Ji Wanwan instinctively felt that Cheng Ya might be an evolved high-level zombie.

Zombies covered in blood could be seen everywhere on the streets.

The thing that had swooped down was wounded by the Military Shovel, then swiftly opened its wings and escaped through an air duct in the ceiling, vanishing in an instant.

Ji Wanwan and Xu Siming were still shaken.

"What was that thing?"

Xu Siming's hand, still holding the Military Shovel, hadn't lowered, and he was warily staring at the ceiling.

Ji Wanwan swallowed hard, "It seemed like a zombie, a zombie that looked both like a bat and a human."

Without time to think or discuss further, chaotic howling and footsteps were already hastily converging towards them.

The space inside the shop was cramped, and the Military Shovel couldn't be used to its full potential, putting both of them in grave danger.

An unidentified zombie above, a Low-level Zombie Group below, she and Xu Siming were trapped between two forces and had to teleport out immediately!

He was beginning to regret agreeing to Ji Wanwan's plan to venture out.

He should have waited until he became stronger himself, at least until he had a superpower that could help or even protect Ji Wanwan, before he agreed to leave the refuge with her.
