Some of his flashiest battles flickered over the screen. His trolls kills, facing the six Elite Kobolds alone, then the Puppets knights too.

[He’s held the top spot since the establishment of the level leaderboard. But how? He’s worked alone and kept his System hidden, but how did he progress so fast]

Faust felt his face drop as the recap showed him farming slimes then using that increased level to farm Bronze Jackals. That was what happened technically. But the system made it seem like he killed a thousand slimes rather than one hundred.

[This would have been the first genocide in your origin trial history if not for the auto generation of mobs.]

It showed him completing the Shadow Of The Mind hidden quest, but made it seem like he hadn’t planned or even gauged the situation and just ran in and got lucky.

Faust felt like he was going mad. It was so jarring seeing reality being twisted and bent so subtly. Nothing looked quite wrong, but was still untrue.

"Let me guess," Thalia said with a grin. "This is not what happened, and its making you look lucky."

Spider actually looked pissed. "Okay this is so dumb."

"If i have to watch any more of this i might hurt someone," Nirvana said darkly.

It showed his battles against the Patron. This one was more fast, exciting and extremely cinematic. Slow shots when they spoke, freeze frames between chain attacks, and just a mythical framing of him and Negan.

I guess they’re cozying up to the patrons for these scenes.

[Faust focuses on building his power alone while Jason uplifts his crew and leads by example. How long before they clash?]

With that the system turned to highlights of lower ranked players doing really cool moves and using their abilities in ingenious ways. Strangely, the system also built small narratives around lower ranked players, but most of them were positive.

Nirvana was staring at him, trying to meet his eyes. The others pretended to still watch the stream. Faust turned to her and shrugged.

"And here i was hoping the system would sell me well."

"I don’t think the framing is all bad," Thalia interjected. Then she remembered she was supposed to not be listening and coughed. "I mean... The fights against the patron and your fearless attitude will garner a lot of interest."

"They’re calling him a meathead in chat," Zen said, laughing. When everyone turned to glare at him, he stopped and said, "I don’t agree, of course. Some people like his spunk and are doing that thing where they call younger generations soft and say Faust gives them hope."

Thalia cringed. "That’s... good, I think. Older generations are more loyal supporters for products."

"I’m a product," Faust said, expecting her to backtrack.

"Everyone is," Thalia said like it was obvious.

They went on to talk about the other players in the recaps and other stuff, but Nirvana kept watching him.

She nudged his shoulders. "You’re alright?"

Faust smiled a little. "I’ll live through the shame."

One thing lingered in Faust mind on how the streams were edited. Most of the scenes he used Instance Replication in were gone. Like when Negan had first used the laser. They showed the rush of light and heat, the crisscrossing lines of energy.

But not how Faust stopped it.

People would have a hard time guessing the skills of schemas anyone used. A smile tugged at his lips. But Faust would do his best

The Novice Village wasn’t just a place for them to stay. It was the stage for the massive game being played.

And so like a game city, it regenerated without being rebuilt.

Green health bars appeared over buildings as soon as the wave ended, and began to tick up. Bricks rolled off the ground, dust swirled back into place and the burn marks disappeared slowly.

The city turned into a blur of dust and flying stones so the players took refuge in the town square.

Now that the recap had ended, Faust took out the memory fragments.

Everyone perked up as he pulled out the first fragment and appraised it.

He passed the fragment to Thalia nad let her explain what the details said, while he pulled out the Memory he got from killing the Puppet Knight Captain.

[Details: Contains memories extracted from a Player. After viewing the memory, you will face a trial and gain an Item. One time use. Be warned, trials do not mean combat, time within the memory and the outside world aren’t linear.]

This means for every ten fragments I can make four more memories.... People are going to have to pool their fragments together just to make this work.

And when you’ve gotten enough fragments for one memory, who gets to go in and get the knowledge? You’ll have to trust that person.

Then there was the time difference. Being stuck in a memory during the final wave didn’t sound good.

He passed the memory over to Thalia and cursed the system for reducing the rest tim under his breath. He couldn’t even settle down to sleep.

Faust’s next time eater came by immediately.

Kye floated down into the corner of the Town square. Her pinkish-red form and multiple tentale arms and legs drew a lot of eyes, but she currently had multiple clones of herself moving through the square.

"Hello, Faust, Nirvana, Zen, Thalia, Spider and Greg. It is very nice to meet you again."
