When they reached the hovercar, he asked, "Where are we going?"

Yu Wen replied, "Not far," as the door opened. "Sit at the back." Yu Xuan was so annoyed. Why should he have to sit at the back? He swallowed his irritation and opened the car door. When he sat down, he saw a strikingly beautiful face looking at him. Yu Xuan almost yelped in surprise.

It was then that he realized that Yu Wen had told him to sit in the back because he brought his mother with him. He was so dumbstruck. What was this all about? Why did Yu Wen have to bring his mother along?

She smiled tenderly, her expression warm and inviting. Yu Xuan was so dazzled by her. She was one of those cool mums who would let you eat anything you wanted if you went to pay them a visit. How could someone this bright and fun give birth to someone like Yu Wen? It was mind-blowing.

"Hi, we haven’t met before. I am Lu Anu, Yu Wen’s mom," she said, stretching out her hand, but Yu Xuan didn’t respond. He was just staring at her like he was in a trance.

"You are very beautiful," he blurted out, and Yu Wen glared at him through the rear-view mirror. His gaze was so terrifying that it sent a shiver all over Yu Xuan’s body. He coughed while turning his gaze away and said, "Sorry, I didn’t mean to say that."

Yu Wen started the hover car and stepped on the accelerator really hard, frightening Yu Xuan so much that he tapped the floating screen to activate the seat belt. Lu Anu, on the other hand, chuckled. It was a cheerful and bubbly laugh that could steal any man’s heart.

"So you are saying that I am ugly," she teased.

Yu Xuan felt like he was going to die of embarrassment. He stammered, "No, I I... you."

Unable to bear it anymore, Yu Wen yelled, "Mom!" This was why he never brought friends over when he was young. Most teens, when they realized how stunning his mother was, would try to befriend him so they could come to his house. It was freaking weird. If his mother had his personality, it would be fine. She would be able to scare them away.

But his mother was the opposite of him. She was friendly, kind, and generous. Her personality, like nectar, attracted lots of bees, and as her son, it was really hard to accept.

Lu Anu laughed and said, "What? I was just messing with him. Look, his ears are red."

Yu Xuan, "..."

He covered his ears, but what was the point when she had already seen it? The atmosphere in the cabin felt so tense that it was suffocating. He felt like an invisible force was tightening around his throat. Lucky for him, they didn’t drive that far.

When he stepped out, Yu Xuan felt like he could breathe again. Yu Wen led the way, and they entered a desolate office space. It was as though all the employees had been asked to take a day off. This gave him a great sense of unease.

It meant that if he screamed, no one would hear him. No one would come to save him. He was starting to doubt Yu Wen. What if he wanted to torture him or worse, kill him? Now that Li Jun was out of the picture, he might be looking for another outlet to vent his anger.

"Sit down," Yu Wen ordered.

Yu Xuan, who was looking for possible escape routes, said, "I prefer to stand."

Yu Wen met his gaze before saying, "Suit yourself."

"You boys talk. I am going to make a cup of coffee. Do you want any?" she asked.

Yu Wen said, "No thanks," but Yu Xuan, who didn’t want to be left alone with this devil, said, "I would like some coffee too, please."

"Alright," she said with a smile before walking out. Yu Wen glared at Yu Xuan, displeased that he was ordering his mother around.

Yu Xuan shivered involuntarily and said, "What? She offered."

Yu Wen exhaled with a sense of frustration before going straight to the point. "Where is Li Jun?"

Yu Xuan, who wasn’t expecting such a question, choked on his saliva and coughed hard. "What the *cough *cough *cough. What the fuck are you talking about?"

The man looked at him, his jaw clenched, and his expression saying, "Do I look that easy to deceive?" But how could Yu Wen know that Li Jun was still alive when his plan was flawless? Li Jun’s plan was so perfectly executed that even though he, despite knowing the truth, almost believed that Li Jun was dead. It took a video call with Li Jun to put him at ease.

"He is dead. You saw what happened that day. You were there," he said, having mustered all his acting skills. There was no way he was going to let this fucker know that Li Jun was still alive.
