The Lord continued to explain the complicated parts of Coelus as the bubble moved smoothly through the grid of streets.
He said that the city was planned to be as efficient as possible and use as little energy as possible, stressing how important it is for people to get along with each other.
The bubble first entered the 200th floor of the science tower.
When we finally got to the 286th floor, the bubble stopped softly, and we stepped out into a busy hallway. The 286th floor was a busy place, with people going about their day with purpose.
The building was sleek and modern, and there were holographic screens on the walls that showed different kinds of information.
As the Lord led us down the hallway, we saw research labs, meeting rooms, and offices. Eventually, we came to a locked door marked "Science Tower - Separation Division." The Lord swiped a card, and the door opened to show a state-of-the-art lab.
Inside, scientists in spotless white coats moved from one piece of high-tech equipment to another. Holographic screens flickered with complicated data.
The Lord led us to the middle of the area, where a tall man in a lab coat was coming toward us.
"What are you doing here?" he asked, glancing at The Lord.
"There’s no time for explanations now. We need to induce separation for these two," The Lord replied, gesturing toward Olivia and Veronica.
The man nodded, understanding the urgency.
He took us to a room where the Separation process could begin. Olivia and Veronica looked at each other with doubt, but the urgency of the situation seemed to make them forget their doubts.
A soothing blue acoustic material covered the walls of the Separation room.
In the middle of the room, there was a soft seat that was lit by a soft blue light coming from a Nyctallum, a metallic orb filled with Metallofluid.
This Nyctalum had a calm, blue glow, which was different from the yellow and red ones I had seen before.
In the middle of the spiritual experience, I told Oliv, "Come on, Oliv. You are going first." 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞
Somewhat scared and confused, she looked at me before she sat down.
After the Separation process was initiated, Oliv entered a dream-like state. She rested in a reclined position, immersed in the Separation.
I was there to meet Olivia when she opened her eyes, my eyes full of anticipation. "What did you see?" I asked, eager to understand what her Separation experience was like.
Olivia looked like she was in awe as she said, "Max, it was beautiful. Just a big, empty sky with this peaceful blue comet flying through it."
I nodded.
Veronica did the same thing. Her trip into Separation showed her a similar dream world. When she woke up, I asked her the same thing: "Veronica, what did you see?"
Her response mirrored Olivia’s account of the dream sky and the blue comet. However, there was an intriguing addition. Veronica mentioned a second comet, faint but distinct, moving in the opposite direction.
I looked at her with interest as I thought about what she said. "A second comet?" I asked again, wondering what this meant.
The pictures from Veronica’s dream were still clear in her eyes as she nodded. "Yes, Max. Two comets crossed paths."
The Lord and I looked at each other, feeling that what she said might have meaning. I said, "This might have something to do with the Jumping process. Perhaps a side effect when they transfer themselves back?"
The Lord nodded, acknowledging the possibility. "It’s a crucial observation. We will need to delve deeper into this."
After leaving the Separation Division, we went back to the busy 286th-floor hallway and saw the holographic screens all around us again.
The Lord led us to a large room with a group of researchers huddled around high-tech quantum equipment. The air was filled with the sound of machines working to change the very nature of the quantum world.
I had a sudden understanding as I looked at the complicated machinery in front of me.
One of the studies was a unique take on the famous double-slit problem, but with a time twist. Instead of trying to move light through slits in space, they were finding out about time and trying to control light in this time dimension.
I asked one of the scientists, "How do you achieve this manipulation through time?" because I was interested.
With passion, the scientist explained their experiment’s materials, indium tin oxide, which responds to incident light in less than 10 femtoseconds. This helped them create the time slits.
The scientist further clarified that their experimental setup involved a "pump" laser pulse directed at an ITO-coated screen.
As the material transitioned from transparency to reflectivity, a subsequent "probe" laser beam perceived this shift as a temporary slit in time.
"In the temporal dimension," he explained, "the photon, like its spatial counterpart, has the interesting ability to cross either of the time-slits. It lives in two different worlds, like an unobserved photon that passes through all spatial slits at the same time."
He then said that when the photon is seen, it makes a unique choice. It can choose to be contained in either the first or second reflection of light, mirroring the probabilistic nature observed in the spatial double-slit scenario.
I asked, "Could this concept be used to develop a computer that utilizes light beams instead of electrical currents?"
The scientist took a quick look at me and then turned to the girls and The Lord. "Does Max know about the fifth and sixth layers?" he asked directly.
"Not yet," the Lord replied. "We are thinking about an intensive course for him."
Suddenly, the room’s door opened, and two figures came in, each of them holding two people in their arms.
To my shock, they were mine and Oliv’s parents, their hands and legs bound with ropes.
My immediate reaction was that of concern. "What the hell are you doing with them?!" I exclaimed, my eyes widening in disbelief.
Oliv ran to her parents and desperately tried to untie the ropes.
The Lord, unfazed by my outburst, calmly stated, "There was no other way. They wouldn’t have willingly come with us."
Despite my apprehension, The Lord continued with a plan.
He made us go back to the Separation chamber and initiated the process, making them enter the Dreamland.
On the way, I tried to explain what was going on to our confused parents, but the information seemed to cause a deep disconnect for them, as shown by the way they were looking as they tried to understand what was happening.
While our parents were going through Separation, The Lord said, "Max, I have been thinking. We could speed up your understanding of the fourth to sixth layers of quantum physics. I will set up a special course at the University of Excellence that will cover the material quickly."
"That sounds like a good idea, but it should only happen every other day. Also, if I need to do something important on Earth, I should be able to choose not to come."
"I understand. That is what we will do. Oh, and also... There might be other students around for some of the classes. But the focus will still be on your pace. If they can’t keep up we will just remove them."
"Fine, I agree to this. However, remember that you will also need to send some of your people to Earth to assist me in achieving my goals there."
"Agreed. I’ll make the necessary arrangements."
In the next hour, Veronica’s mother was also brought into the science tower and underwent the Separation process.
A single Separation was not enough, but repeated exposure made it easy to do on your own.
My primary concern now was calming our parents down. The shock on their faces was evident.
However, the mere existence of this place served as undeniable proof. More evidence wasn’t necessary; what we needed most was time.
When everyone awakened, I intended to return to Earth and slowly make everything clear to them.
The main challenge was my mother, who, in theory, couldn’t use elevators due to potential health issues related to pressure changes.
The elevators on Coelus maintained a constant pressure, yet this didn’t make her eager to enter on her own. We had to coax her into it.
We retraced our steps to the top level of the city and returned to the place where we initially arrived. Entering the Observer, The Lord set the location from the outside.
We disappeared from Coelus and reappeared back on Earth.
This time, I opted for us to return to the USA, specifically to my house in Boston.
In the living room of my house, as we reappeared, we formed a circle around the sofa and the coffee table.
Oliv stood by my side.
Veronica dropped to her knees.
My parents stood frozen, uncertain of what to do.
Oliv’s father surveyed the surroundings and silently sat on the sofa.
However, Oliv’s mother and Mrs. Hayes had an unconventional reaction – they burst into strange, almost manic laughter.
But after a moment, they calmed down and looked interested and curious, as if they were finally glad that something interesting was going on in their lives.
