Oliv and I found ourselves outside of the plane, still dazed from the long flight to Seoul.
Rick was already waiting for us at the baggage reclaim.
There was a time difference between Boston and Seoul.
We took off on a lazy Sunday morning and arrived on a bustling Monday morning.
Exhausted yet excited we exchanged glances and hopped into a taxi, heading for a hotel near the LoL Park arena.
We soon realized that the prices in the area had been hiked up significantly because of the upcoming semifinals and the grand final on Wednesday.
After we sorted out our hotel, Oliv, Rick, and I decided to make the most of our first day in Seoul.
We hit up the vibrant Myeongdong district, where the street food game was strong, with all the local munchies from spicy tteokbokki to mouthwatering hotteok.
Rick wanted to check out the Gyeongbokgung Palace, but me and Oliv weren’t that much into history, so I made the decision to split up.
When the sun began to disappear behind the horizon, we went up the Namsan Tower to see those mind-blowing views of the city and the Seoul’s lit-up skyline.
We were definitely enjoying it a lot, but eventually, Oliv and I hit the wall, and we headed for the hotel.
We dropped on the bed in our room, with no energy left.
Well... almost no energy left.
ok... we had quite a lot of energy left.
...
I woke up early in the morning.
I didn’t want to wake up Oliv, but my restless mind showed no mercy. It demanded my attention, it wanted me to think, to solve, to understand.
So, I quietly left the bed and continued working on the Goldbachian Kernel at the desk in our hotel room.
Just like almost every day, I grabbed my Samsung, flipped it open, and checked my blog.
But as I scrolled through the comments, a wave of dread washed over me.
The words there were unlike anything from my regular readers.
My heart speed up and a chilling fear gripped me as I read, "Take it away, Maximillian" 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦
There was no way for anyone to know that it’s my blog.
Additionaly the comment was under my first post about my dreams. It was the least popular of my posts.
Unless Oliv was researching it and found my blog by accident, the only ones who knew something about it were the beeings inside of my dreams.
I proceeded to erase the entire blog, but I knew that it was already too late.
Why would those with bad intent leave a comment like that?
The assassins from back at Boston Beach have likely discovered my whereabouts a while ago.
The question was, who had left that comment then?
Now, I feared that someone will just appear out of thin air, and kill me.
However, all of a sudden, that fear dissapeared.
I pushed those thoughts away.
Maybe, just maybe, I started to believe that The Lord would protect me if something happens.
But I had doubts about this too.
I got lost in my head for a bit until the alarm went off, and Oliv finally woke up.
She blinked as she looked at me, "Hey there, did you sleep well?", she asked with a sleepy smile.
I leaned back on the chair, "Of course, I always do"
Oliv climbed out of bed, stretched and headed for the bathroom.
As she brushed her teeth I joined her and splashed some water on my face, "You know nothing about lol, how are you gonna know when to cheer for Alex?"
A sly grin crept across her face. "And when did I ever claim I’m clueless about lol?" she retorted with a pout.
We stepped out of the hotel. Rick was already waiting for us outside, "Are we going straight for the queues or you wanna contact your friend first?", he asked about Alex.
"In fact, I think it’s time to give Alex a heads-up.", I replied
As we made our way toward the arena, I pulled out my phone, ans fired off a quick message to Alex: "We’re outside, where do we meet you?"
I sensed his surprise as his response came in, "Hold up, you’re really in Seoul? No joke? wait up".
I chuckled and shared his message with Oliv and Rick, "Alex can’t believe that we made it all the way to Seoul"
Just a minute later I got another message from him, "You’re good to go, buddy. Backdoor’s open. You guys can come in"
As we reached the backdoor, the security team examined our document.
After a brief pause, one of the guards spoke into his earpiece, and then he smiled, "All clear. Let me show you the way guys."
He led us through a circular corridor into a private room, where Alex was chilling with his team.
Alex noticed us "Whoa, you guys are here! I can’t believe it. And who is that?", he turned to Rick.
"He is my new friend from Uni. Rick is his name"
We chatted for some time and then with a confident stride, Alex led me, Oliv, and Rick through the hallways of the arena.
As we entered the stadium, the audience spotted Alex.
They cheered, but there was only a few die-hard fans, so they didn’t exactly rock the place.
We were in Seoul after all. The opposite team was T1. A korean team... no wonder.
After taking our seats in the front row, Oliv went for some drinks as the audience began to really fill up.
Oliv returned with a tray of sodas and less then an hour later the arena went dark.
The team members of both squads stepped onto the grand stage. We cheered for Alex with every ounce of energy.
The game began with the teams selecting their champions, each pick and ban send ripples through the audience.
Alex’s team strategically chose a tanky frontline with Ornn, while the Korean team went for a bursty mid-lane mage in Zoe.
As the game kicked off, Alex’s crew honed in on those early objectives, eyeing those dragons to lock down the map control.
The crowd was amped up with every brawl as both sides swapped kills down in the bot lane.
They were living for it.
Alex’s team used Ornn’s item upgrades to gain an edge, while the Korean team relied on Zoe’s long-range burst to pick off key targets.
As we hit the game’s midway point, the stakes were through the roof.
It was a nail-biter, a game where the tiniest moves could mean the difference between a win and a wipeout.
The crowd was on their feet, Roaring! Screaming with every brawl. With their banners up in the air.
In the heat of the League of Legends match, an epic skirmish broke out. One of the players executed a perfectly timed combo.
The crowd went wild, and Rick, caught up in the excitement, turned to me and said, "Did you see that double-kill bot lane? How can you be so versatile? How the fuck did Alex make it there from top to help? Crazy shit!"
I looked at him for some time.
There was something about what he said, but I couldn’t quite get what it was.
That’s when something clicked.
The world around me seemed to fade into the distance.
The voices of the crowd seemed to quiet down...
Versatile?
There was this profound clarity that seemed to overtake me.
Versatility... Yes!
I couldn’t prove the validity of my assumptions with the currently available methods, I needed to adapt!
I needed to create a new versatile framework in number theory.
One that could effortlessly adapt the p-adic bases to all numerical systems.
After this revelation, I couldn’t contain my excitement.
I abruptly rose from my seat and dashed out of the arena, my heart racing.
Oliv, catching up with me, called out, "Max! Where the heck are you running? What happened?"
I didn’t slow down, I runned through the hallway, but I yelled back over my shoulder, "It’s important! I’ve realized something, and I can’t afford to lose it!"
My mind was going crazy, there were ideas appearing left and right and I needed to capture it before it slipped away.
With adrenaline coursing through my veins, my legs carried me swiftly back to the hotel.
My stamina was impressive, and Oliv struggled to keep pace.
As I reached the hotel, I made a beeline for the front desk, barely pausing to catch my breath.
I approached the front desk, my heart still racing, and grabbed a pen, snatching a piece of paper from my bag.
Seated at the desk with pen and paper in hand, I gazed up at the ceiling.
My mind was racing.
The room was silent, only a gentle hum of the hotel’s air conditioning could be heard.
