"We’re here" a professor’s deep voice echoed loudly.
"Don’t get yourself killed; I want to have a fair match against you"
’What? ’ Zeres froze for a moment, blinking in disbelief, he turned his head beside him.
’Why is she requesting a match? ’ he narrowed his eyes at the woman beside him. Her long raven-black hair fluttered from the strong wind, golden eyes fixed on him.
"We’ll meet at the center within five days—assuming the both of us aren’t yet eliminated."
Zeres stared at the Saelyz beside him. ’Why? ’ that’s all he could think of.
"I’ll do my best" Zeres forced himself to smile.
Fighting Saelyz when he still hasn’t mastered all of his affinities was foolish—he’ll definitely lose; yet despite of that, he also wanted to know how far he needs to train so he could catch up to her— this world’s protagonist.
’But why is two of class-A already challenging me? ’ a dry laugh escaped from his mouth, it felt surreal—the characters he have read in book challenging him in a match.
"So this is the Lyrez island" Zeres muttered to himself. This island was infamous—not because of a good news of course. This island was where the professors are dropping the forsakens and monsters for the purpose of exams.
Zeres went down from the ship, staring at the scene before him, he sighed."This is troublesome"
The place was filled with desert, white sand all over the place, poisonous monsters such as scorpions hiding beneath the hot sand.
"The Luminary Trial now begin! "
At the professor’s announcement, all students sprang on their feet, some stumbling because of their heavy leather bags.
"Well, should I be thankful? " a smirk tugged at his lips, his linen shirt made a tearing sound before two massive bat-like wings appeared behind him.
"Bye~" Zeres waved at Aeliz who stood there, her long white hair tied up in a ponytail, she wore a plain shirt. her expression of pure fury while he flap his wings to flew mid-air.
"That’s cheating" the students all echoed the same word, their jaws dropped as they watch Zeres flew away from the desert with hellish temperature.
_____________
In the corner of the ship, a young man stood quietly, his black hair fluttered from the strong wind, deep green eyes staring at Zeres who use his wings freely.
’He’s really declaring it’s he clenched his fist so hard blood dripped on the ground. ’Is he confident the academy will support him? ’
’Just you wait, I’ll do what it takes to make you an enemy of the empire.’ Julian gritted his teeth, just the memory of his family being slaughtered by vampires made him want to tear that vampire here an then. But he had to wait patiently, though that vampire appeared quite careless—he was extremely cautious.
’Months had passed but I still can’t find anything that we can make him take responsibility’ he clicked his tongue as he walked beside the already exhausted students.

’I should hunt some forsakens for now, it’s still the first day—eliminating students will be pointless’ Zeres thought, landing on a forest ground—he had already arrived at the center part of the island.
The tall trees prevented him from seeing anything from above, the sunlight was barely slipping through the countless tall trees.
Walking aimlessly, Zeres sighed "Where are the forsakens? " he tried stomping on the ground—yet none appeared.
"Do I need to—" all of a sudden, Zeres’ eyes narrowed at the path before him— he could clearly hear the rhythm of a beating heart and the scent of fresg blood. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
"Monster? "
He was the first one to arrived at the center island, there was no point of thinking it was a human—and certainly not forsakens: the blood of forsakens smelled rotten.
After walking a few more steps, he arrived at a place without trees, only tall grass enough to cover an entire human figure.
A dangerous smile found it’s way on his lips, his eyes darting beside him before he stepped back slightly.
A massive boar appeared, the horns on it’s nose shone like a metal, his hides looks like that of a reptile’s skin.
"Is this what a monster looks like? " Zeres shifted, his cloth made a sound as it fluttered with his long white hair behind him.
The wild boar roared, it stomped hard at the ground before it lunged it’s massive body straight at Zeres.
"Will your blood be tasty? " he mumbled, then sharp claw appeared on his right arm, it gleamed for a moment before he swung it widely.
The loud sound of something cracking drifted across the field as the wild boar skidded backwards. The thick hides protecting it’s legs cracked before it shattered completely.
Blood dripped down the grass, a massive wound appeared at the wild-boar’s side.
"Not enough? Great! " Zeres extended his arm, his fingers pointing at the massive boar’s head.
"Is this how is it? " there was a crease between his brows while he let out his own mana. The air shifted, then a blob of water appeared before his pointed index and middle finger.
"Compressed Water Bullet" he chanted. The blob of water trembled slightly, then it charged with a great speed straight at the monster.
"Eh? " flush crept up at Zeres’ neck while he continued to stare at the scene before him—his spell, it exploded before it could even harm the monster!
"You didn’t see anything okay? " he laughed at himself, he had an utterly terrible control when it comes to other elements.
’Is this the struggle of gifted with too many affinities?’
A look of betrayal appeared on Zeres face before he moved, too fast—he appeared behind the boar, his hands stretching, ready to strike.
The boar roared, a smoke formed from it’s nose as it tried to evade. The field was immediately filled with dust as the boar tried to run away, it’s heavy legs making the dust stronger.
Zeres stared at the running monster. "Really now, running away after gauging my level? But I need your meat and blood." A glint passed his crimson eyes, he then shifted as he lunged.
"You wounded my pride" Zeres hissed, his cheeks still felt hot. "Get back here! "
