"What?" Leon was stunned for the briefest moment before reacting.

A portion of his attention remained focused on controlling the invisible daggers, which were still keeping the golden gorilla occupied.

Leon lightly waved his hand. The invisible daggers whistled through the air.

Just as the wolf-headed beast’s claws were only a hair’s breadth away from tearing through him...

Clang!

Something metallic collided with the claws.

Leon immediately rolled to the side, creating some distance.

It was the first dagger.

The second dagger followed instantly, stabbing into the wolf-headed beast’s back.

The impact forced the monster to crash into the exact spot where Leon had been lying a moment earlier with a bang.

Boom! A small crater was formed.

Leon barely had any chance to breathe.

The elf-like monster and the golden gorilla were already moving. So were the other A-Class monsters.

Amid the chaos rushing toward him from all directions, Leon whispered, "The Frost Monarch’s Blade."

Instantly, a black hilt emerged from the system panel... Leon grabbed it and swiftly pulled out the entire sword.

Before the monsters could reach him, he drew his arm back.

Then he spun on his left foot and unleashed a full circular slash. A barely visible arc of white energy shot out from the blade. It swept across the battlefield like a freezing tide.

Archie and Oliver were charging toward the lion-headed beast. Then they suddenly saw the monster swing its sword at empty air.

’What is it trying to...’ Before Archie could finish the thought, a powerful gust swept across the battlefield. The next moment, everyone felt a tremendous pressure disappear.

It was as if an invisible weight that had been crushing them all this entire time had suddenly vanished.

Then they saw it.

The space before them seemed to crack and ripple. Reality itself appeared to distort. The next instant, the illusion shattered.

The lion-headed beast shifted into a young man. Loose clothes draped over his body. A simple pair of white sneakers. No armor. No flashy attire.

Just a sword in his hand.

Yet that sword changed everything.

The moment their eyes landed on it, a chill ran down their spines. Even while resting quietly, it emitted a freezing aura, as though it wanted to turn the entire world into ice.

Leon himself was equally stunned. "Wait... they’re all humans?" He watched as every monster on the battlefield transformed into human figures.

"Was I really trapped in a hallucination? And I somehow broke it?"

"Leon Bale?" Jasper’s stunned voice rang out.

Leon turned toward him. The wolf-headed beast was gone. Standing in its place was Jasper.

"What are you doing here?" Jasper asked hurriedly.

Leon’s expression immediately darkened. "My sister... she’s in danger."

"What?" Jasper’s eyes widened. "They brought your sister here, too?"

Leon frowned. "Too? Who else did they bring?"

"My brother is here as well."

Jasper hurried toward him as he spoke.

"You know this kid?" Oliver asked as his body gradually returned to normal. Strangely, despite his earlier transformation, his clothes looked completely intact.

Unlike Jasper’s.

His clothes were practically in tatters.

"He is..." Jasper was about to explain when Archie cut him off.

"We have bigger problems to deal with first."

His gaze was fixed on the mansion entrance.

More specifically, the six figures standing there. One of them was Simon Bowen. Everyone recognized him.

But the other five...

Nobody knew who they were. Jasper and Oliver followed Archie’s gaze.

So did Leon. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

"It’s them," Jasper said grimly.

Leon’s eyes narrowed. "Are they the ones who took my sister?"

"Yes."

A cold light flashed through Leon’s eyes. "Then it’s time they paid for it."

He started walking toward them. But before he could take more than a few steps, Oliver grabbed his shoulder.

"Easy, kid."

Leon stopped and turned toward him.

Oliver’s expression was serious. "You might be strong, but those people aren’t ordinary opponents." His gaze shifted toward the five assassins.

"They’re assassins." His voice grew heavier.

"They don’t kill monsters. They kill people who even monsters are afraid of."

Leon remained silent.

Oliver continued. "And the worst part? Every single one of them is A-Class. We’re not completely confident we can deal with all their tricks even after being S-class hunters."

Leon was about to reply when a voice suddenly echoed across the battlefield.

"Why did you kill my cousin?" It was Alpha.

His cold gaze was locked onto Leon.

Leon blinked. He glanced at Jasper standing to his left. Then, at Archie and Oliver on his right. Finally, he pointed at himself.

"Me?"

His expression turned strange. "You’re talking about me?"

Alpha didn’t answer.

Leon frowned. "When did I kill your cousin? I don’t even know who you’re talking about."

Alpha’s eyes grew colder. "You didn’t forget about the hidden realm that quickly, did you?"

The moment those words left his mouth, realization finally dawned on Leon.

Leon’s expression only faltered for a moment before he quickly regained his composure. "I think you’ve got the wrong person. It wasn’t me who killed them." His expression remained calm, but his mind was racing.

’Before anything else, I need to save my sister. I can’t afford to be reckless.’

"Oh?" Alpha’s lips curled into an amused smile. "You didn’t, you say?"

He took a step forward. "Do you really think people like us act without solid proof? And tell me... do people usually lie when they’re about to die?"

Leon’s eyes narrowed. "Die?" A bad feeling suddenly rose in his chest. "Who did you kill?"

Something stirred within him. A face flashed in his mind. A girl’s. Emily Flemming.

’They didn’t dare to kill her to get to me, did they? If they did, then I won’t....’

Alpha spoke before he could finish his thoughts. "You’ll soon find out who sold you out. When you meet them in hell, of course."

The next moment...

Alpha vanished from his position.

Leon’s pupils contracted. ’Where did he....’

Before he could even react...

Bam!

Something slammed into him with overwhelming force. Leon’s body was blasted through the air like a cannonball, disappearing into the distance.
