The same cycle began once more. Leon’s flesh melted away, only to be reconstructed again. But this time, the rate of decay was far faster than before.
Leon gritted his teeth and remained seated.
The wounds might have been healing continuously, but the pain was real. There was no perk that numbed the agony. Leon felt every second of it. And he had been enduring this same torment for months.
Again and again.
The pain alone was enough to drive an ordinary person insane, let alone burn them alive. Yet Leon endured it all. In fact, at this final level, it almost looked as though he was welcoming the pain.
’My skin...’
Leon could clearly feel the changes taking place.
’After decaying and reconstructing itself over and over again, it has become as hard as steel even without having any metal layer like tanks.’
Time continued to pass. His fire resistance slowly but steadily increased.
Back in the real world...
"Bring her." Delta’s cold voice broke the silence.
"Y-Yes. Right away." Simon hurried over to Meridith and hoisted her onto his shoulder before quickly returning to Delta’s side.
Delta glanced at Neil. "I believe my words were clear enough earlier." With that, he turned around and started walking away.
Simon hurried after him without daring to say a word.
Neil desperately wanted to stop them. But his body refused to listen. Every muscle screamed in pain. Using all the strength he had left, he somehow pulled out his phone and sent a message to a previously saved emergency contact.
Then darkness nearly claimed him.
Thirty minutes later...
Two ambulances and a black van screeched to a halt in front of the injured hunters.
The doors burst open. Medical personnel and guild members quickly rushed toward the scene. The injured hunters were carefully loaded into the ambulances.
One man hurried toward Neil, who was being placed onto a stretcher.
"Neil! What happened?"
"David..." Neil forced the words out. "Take me to the Guild Master. Now."
David frowned. "But you’re in no condition to..."
"Do as I say if you don’t want people to die."
David’s expression immediately changed.
Without wasting another second, he ordered two guild members to move Neil into the van.
The remaining hunters were taken away in the ambulances and rushed toward the hospital.
Meanwhile, David drove straight toward the guild headquarters.
Roughly forty minutes later...
Jasper Hudesman stood beside a bed inside Razor Wolf Guild’s healing chamber.
Neil lay on the bed, covered in bandages.
Jasper’s expression was grim.
"How did this happen?" he asked. "Was it monsters?"
Neil slowly shook his head. "No, Guild Master." His voice was hoarse. "I wish it were just monsters. But, it was a human. And a dangerous one at that."
Jasper narrowed his eyes. "A human?"
Neil nodded. "He can use spatial magic. He can create multiple spatial rifts simultaneously without breaking a sweat."
Jasper’s expression became increasingly serious. "But why would someone like that attack your team out of nowhere?"
Neil took a deep breath. "He took Meridith."
Jasper’s brows furrowed. But before he could say anything, Neil continued.
"And I’m afraid..." His fists clenched weakly beneath the blanket. "They also took Noah."
The moment those words left his mouth...
The temperature in the room dropped noticeably. Jasper’s eyes turned ice-cold.
A terrifying pressure exploded from his body.
The air itself seemed to freeze. "What..." His voice was low and dangerous. "Did you just say?"
Neil quickly explained everything. The more Jasper listened, the darker his expression became. Thick fur began bursting out across his arms and neck. His muscles swelled violently, tearing through parts of his clothes. His eyes gradually started glowing with a feral light.
The pressure filling the room became increasingly suffocating.
"Guild Master, please calm down," David said hurriedly. "We need to think of a way to save them first."
"There is nothing to think about." Jasper’s voice was cold. "They want blood. So I’ll give them blood. I want to see what gave them the confidence to mess with me."
A terrifying killing intent surged from his body.
Without waiting for another word, he stormed out of the medical room. ’So that helicopter really was here for those three.’ His expression darkened further. ’I would very much like to know who dares to infiltrate our country and lay a hand on my brother.’
David hurriedly followed behind him. "Guild Master, should I prepare our men?"
"Yes." Jasper didn’t even slow down. "Tell every A-Class hunter to gear up." His voice carried unquestionable authority. "We leave in five minutes."
"Understood."
At the next junction, the two split up and headed in different directions.
Jasper strode directly toward his private office. Upon entering, he walked to a heavily guarded locker embedded into the wall.
Click.
The door opened. Several items were neatly arranged inside. Without hesitation, he grabbed a vial filled with crimson liquid.
Meanwhile, David moved quickly through the guild headquarters. Moments later, an emergency alert echoed throughout the entire building.
"Attention. All A-Class hunters are to gather in the main hall immediately."
"Repeat. All A-Class hunters are to gather in the main hall immediately."
The announcement repeated several times.
Hunters who were currently outside the guild received emergency messages on their phones. A location was attached. They were ordered to arrive within twenty minutes without exception.
The entire Razor Wolf Guild erupted into activity.
Hunters rushed through hallways. Weapons were retrieved. Armor was equipped. It was as if a war had broken out.
Five minutes later...
Two black vans shot out from the headquarters of Razor Wolf Guild.
Inside one of them, David glanced toward Jasper. "Guild Master, should we ask the other guilds for help as well?"
Jasper stared out the window. "I have already informed both the Raging Bull Guild and the Domineering Rhino Guild." His voice remained calm, but his eyes were cold. "Their guild masters and all available A-Class hunters will arrive in time."
David looked surprised. "But aren’t they our competitors?"
Jasper finally turned his head. "We can’t be petty about this. This is serious."
David immediately fell silent. He understood.
If even Jasper was mobilizing multiple guilds, then the situation was far worse than he had imagined. The two vans sped through the city streets at full speed, ignoring every red light along the way.
Toward the Bowen Estate.
