Chillin' on an Uninhabited Island in Another World

“Uwoooh! I’m gonna search! —So what am I supposed to search for?”

Right after we left the base, Shoubu tilted her head, despite being full of motivation.

“Minori put together some materials for us, so I’ll hand them out.”

I gave the prepared copies to Shoubu, Roa, and Yumekai.

They were printouts of the materials Minori had written on paper.

The printer we brought back from the bonus area had gotten a chance to shine.

“Huh? Class Rep wrote this? Isn’t she crazy good at drawing?”

“She is.”

For example, together with the explanation, “Marigolds contain yellow, orange, and red pigments,” there was a large drawing of a marigold flower.

Even though she only had ink to work with, it was beautifully drawn.

“She is very skilled. ...It might be nice to hang Lady Minori’s drawings on the walls.”

Yumekai made a conflicted face at Roa, who sounded completely serious.

It was true that hanging drawings in the house might be a good idea.

Back in Japan, there had been posters and photographs and things like that, but on this deserted island, we could not do much in the way of decorating.

Under those circumstances, drawings made by someone could be hung up.

Of course, that depended on Minori.

“We can ask her about that later. For now, let’s search for what we came for.”

“Right! First, we have to find something that looks like Class Rep’s pictures.”

Even in areas we had already explored, it was not as if we knew every last thing growing there.

We had sometimes used the method of putting something into my Inventory first to judge what it was, but the deserted island was far too big to do that every single time.

So we headed for an area with that kind of balance: we knew there were no water sources nearby, but we had not harvested everything in the vicinity either.

Once we arrived, we spread out while calling to each other at reasonable intervals so no one got too far away, and began searching.

“Hey, hey! I found some! Yellow!”

When I heard Shoubu’s voice and went closer, she was waiting with yellow fruit gripped in both hands.

“Oh, lemons.”

“As expected of you, Miss Urume.”

“Right? They’re in Class Rep’s materials too, so does this mean we got yellow?”

“Yeah, it does.”

“Yaaay! And if they’re lemons, we can use them for all kinds of other stuff too, right?”

Lemons could be used in all kinds of dishes too.

“Well, Shion might be happy.”

Yumekai seemed to be thinking the same thing.

So we harvested lemons for a while.

As expected, Roa’s hands alone were oddly fast.

In the time it took the rest of us to pick one, she would toss about five into the carrying basket I had given her.

“With Roa here, it’s like having a hundred people.”

“Thank you very much. However, to be accurate, I believe it would be roughly three to five people’s worth.”

“Ahaha, true. In reality, that’s about how much help you are.”

The four of us harvested about two baskets’ worth, added the lemon information to the map, and then started moving again.

After we had walked for a while, Yumekai seemed to notice something.

In the direction she was pointing, plants were growing thickly... but within the greenery, ~Nоvеl𝕚ght~ I could see a reddish color.

“Let’s go check.”

We all approached, and the source of the red turned out to be small fruits.

“Whoa, weird shape!”

Shoubu, who had leaned in close to look, backed away in surprise.

The red fruit had green lines standing out on it like blood vessels, and from its tip grew several things that were hard to tell apart from either needles or antennae.

“...It is listed in the materials as well. It appears to be gardenia fruit.”

“Oh, you’re right. Let’s see, it can make yellow and blue, and then green from that? That’s overpowered! Nice work, Serina.”

“Yeah, yeah.”

It seemed producing blue would take a little work, but the materials also said that with my Crafting Ability, it would probably not be a problem.

So we all harvested those too.

“Hey, hey, aren’t things going really well?”

“Yeah. There are some things we already have that look usable too, so we might have most of the colors we need.”

“We have safflower, so you said red can be produced from that, yes?”

I nodded at Roa’s words.

“If there’s anything else we need... maybe white?”

Yumekai murmured that.

“I want purple too!”

“Hmm... I feel like purple could be extracted from the blueberries we already have, but... as things stand now, I don’t think we can get white.”

“...Right. It isn’t in the materials either.”

Depending on the substance, my Crafting Ability might be able to generate it.

I should ask Minori about it later.

“Let’s explore a little more, then head back.”

“Kuno, are you worried about the other team?”

Shoubu said it with a grin.

“...Well, yeah.”

“All your girlfriends are over there...”

“...Yeah.”

Chiyu, Shion, and Shouko were all acting separately right now.

And though I had not told her how I felt yet, Minori was there too.

“Any plans to make the girls on this team your girlfriends?”

Shoubu said that with a mischievous smile.

Yumekai sighed, while Roa gave a pleased-sounding “Oh my.”

“That kind of thing depends on how both people feel.”

“True. But you got three girlfriends in less than ten days, right, Kuno? Can you really say there won’t be any more?”

“...If you find anything, call me.”

Seeing that the situation was turning against me, I decided to escape.

“Ahaha, got it.”

Shoubu did not press further and went back to searching.

“...Master.”

Before long, Roa seemed to have found something this time.

Maybe because these were ingredients for cosmetics they would be using themselves, the women’s concentration was different.

During the afternoon exploration, I had only been useful for harvesting work and storing things in my Inventory.

Thinking about that, I headed toward where Roa’s voice had come from.

Had someone suddenly imitated a cat...?

When I met up with Roa, she was holding a cat with pure-white fur in her arms.

“...That is a kitty.”

It was a cute cat.

I had never owned a cat, but I had received plenty of daily comfort from the videos of pet cats overflowing online.

But this was strange.

The things placed on this island were supposed to be animals suited for meat.

And only Afanc monsters.

There should not be any cats here.

So what on earth was this cat?
