Lu Fan initially tried to refuse. "Is this really necessary? For a little scratch like this? You want me to be hospitalized?"

But all he got in return was a piercing glare from Jiang Yixia.

They stepped out of the exam room.

Lu Fan put on a shameless grin. "Yixia, you’re making me stay in the hospital for a little cut like this. You must be worried about me, right?"

Jiang Yixia replied in a placid tone, "I just don’t want anything to happen to you on my account. Don’t think you can play the victim to win my sympathy. I’m smarter than that. The doctor said to stay for observation, so you’re staying. I’m going to pay the fees. You go wait for me in the treatment area."

"You got it!" Lu Fan didn’t really care what she said.

After all, actions spoke louder than words.

As Jiang Yixia walked away, he spotted several members of the Donghua Hospital leadership team standing nearby. From the looks of it, they wanted to approach him.

So, Lu Fan walked over to them.

The hospital president, vice presidents, and directors were all bundles of nerves.

They immediately plastered on smiles to greet him. "President Lu!"

"President Lu, why didn’t you give us a heads-up that you were coming?"

"President Lu, that injury isn’t anything serious, is it? I’ll contact a private doctor and nurse to treat you right away."

Lu Fan advised them, "No need to be so nervous. Just treat me like any other patient. I just scraped my hand today and happened to be passing by our hospital. You all go on with your work. Don’t worry about me."

"But... President Lu, you’ve graced us with your presence. We absolutely must prioritize your wound," Director Ma said, eager to curry favor, his expression filled with concern. "How about this? I’ll take you to get your wound treated and assign someone to personally oversee your care."

With that, he stepped into the elevator. "Alright, you don’t need to follow me. I’m off to get my shot and have my wound taken care of."

The second the elevator doors closed, all the hospital executives immediately headed for the stairwell.

Seeing Jiang Yixia approach, Lu Fan asked, "Yixia, where are we staying for the hospitalization?"

"It’s *you* who’s being hospitalized, not *we*," Jiang Yixia said evenly. "Just have your subordinate find the inpatient department. Take your medicine. I’m leaving."

"You’re leaving?" Lu Fan immediately protested. "No, you can’t go."

"All you have to do is get your wound treated, get your tetanus shot, and check in. Your subordinate can handle all of that," Jiang Yixia said, exasperated.

"He’s a big oaf. He doesn’t know how to do anything, let alone take care of someone," Lu Fan complained.

Hearing this, Chen He chimed in awkwardly, "That’s right, Boss’s Wife, I’ve never stayed in a hospital, so I don’t really know..."

"Don’t call me ’Boss’s Wife,’" Jiang Yixia emphasized. "I am not his wife. I just own a flower shop. Your boss got hurt helping me, so I felt obligated to accompany him to the hospital. That’s it, and that’s all."

She had been determined to leave, but seeing Lu Fan’s pitiful puppy-dog expression, Jiang Yixia’s heart softened once again.

"That means my son is braver than I am. Good for him," Lu Fan said, giving a thumbs-up.

Jiang Yixia saw that not only was Lu Fan utterly shameless, but he was actually taking pride in his son for it.

She couldn’t help but let out a sigh.

Worried about causing an even bigger scene, Jiang Yixia urged, "Alright, let’s just get to the inpatient department."

With that, she hurried off toward the inpatient ward.

The nurse looked at the forms again, then at her computer screen. "We don’t have any private rooms available right now. We could put you in a semi-private room; you’d be sharing with one other person."

She looked at Lu Fan. "Would you be okay with that?"

"Sure, I’m fine with that," Lu Fan smiled.

This entire exchange was overheard by the hospital executives lurking nearby.

The hospital president shot an angry look at Director Ma. "Get the head nurse of the inpatient ward down to the front desk right now and arrange a VIP suite for President Lu!"

"Yes, yes, Mr. President, I’ll see to it immediately." Director Ma hurried away and barked the order at the head nurse in the sternest possible tone.

Just as the front desk nurse was typing in the information, the head nurse came rushing over.

She was panting, but managed a bright smile. "Hello, Mr. Lu! It turns out we do have one VIP suite available after all. Here, allow me."

With that, the head nurse gestured for the other nurse to step aside and took over the keyboard herself.

Hearing this, Jiang Yixia turned to Lu Fan. "Looks like you’re pretty lucky. A VIP suite just magically appeared."

"My luck is only good because you’re by my side," Lu Fan chuckled.

"If you dare spout one more cheesy pickup line, I’ll grab a pair of scissors and give your other hand a matching cut," Jiang Yixia warned!

Lu Fan remained perfectly calm. "Fine by me. Then I won’t be able to use chopsticks, and you’ll have to feed me."

Jiang Yixia closed her eyes and shook her head in resignation.
