Jiang Yixia’s eyes widened. "Don’t even think about it! I’m telling you, you are absolutely forbidden from setting foot in my bedroom."

"Fine, I promise."

Jiang Yixia’s face flushed an even deeper red. She lowered her head and ate her noodles, but her mind was in turmoil.

’She had no idea if he would try to pull something tonight.’

She was thirty-seven, after all, not some naive eighteen-year-old girl who’d never been touched.

But that didn’t mean just anyone could touch her.

After they finished their noodles, she washed the bowls.

Jiang Yixia saw Lu Fan sitting on the sofa, engrossed in his phone, and asked, "Why did you suddenly come back tonight?"

"I came back to deal with that incident of yours from this afternoon," Lu Fan said with a smile.

Jiang Yixia thought for a moment, then asked curiously, "You’re not talking about that student’s parents, are you?"

Lu Fan nodded.

"So how did you handle it?"

"I went straight to their house and gave them two options," Lu Fan stated calmly. "Either they kneel at the school gate tomorrow morning and publicly admit that their son bullies his female classmates, or their son can kneel at the school gate instead. Hearing this, Jiang Yixia grew worried. "Isn’t that taking things too far? It’s a school, after all."

"Don’t worry," Lu Fan replied. "I can handle anything that comes up. To be honest, the reason I’m so angry isn’t just because of how he treated Jiang Ming. It’s because that family uses their money to let their son do whatever he wants. I’ve heard that this boy has bullied practically every girl in his class. He does things like snapping their bra straps or groping their thighs. The kid’s a total pervert."

Upon hearing this, Jiang Yixia became furious as well.

Jiang Yixia retorted, exasperated, "What do you take me for? Some kind of saint?"

"I just thought that because you’re so kind, you’d tell me to be the bigger person in a situation like this."

"Quite the opposite," Jiang Yixia said angrily. "If their son really did those things, I wouldn’t forgive them even if they knelt at the school gate."

Lu Fan gave her a thumbs-up. "That’s my girl."

"You know it—" Jiang Yixia caught herself and said, exasperated, "Who’s ’your girl’? Let’s get this straight. I’m not."

"You were, once. Fine." Lu Fan sighed dramatically. "I can’t believe you’re drawing such a hard line. You’re breaking my heart."

"Hmph! Well, maybe a certain someone should have cherished what he had back then instead of putting on a melodramatic act now." With that, Jiang Yixia returned to her bedroom.

Seeing her leave, Lu Fan quickly called out, "Yixia, at least give me a blanket! It’s cold."

A moment later, Jiang Yixia emerged with a light quilt and tossed it at Lu Fan.

This was followed by two distinct clicks as she locked the bedroom door.

’Looks like my dear wife has double-locked the door,’ Lu Fan thought.

’Short of a fire, that door probably isn’t opening tonight.’

’Still, this is a big improvement,’ he mused. ’At least I get to spend the night.’

But going to sleep without showering, changing his clothes, or even brushing his teeth didn’t quite fit Lu Fan’s image as a man who valued cleanliness.

He had no choice but to call Chen He.

"Chen He, bring me a set of pajamas, a toothbrush, and a towel."

"Right away, Boss."

A little while later, Lu Fan opened the door.

Chen He asked curiously, "Boss, did you succeed tonight?"

"Success, my ass. I’m sleeping on the couch tonight," Lu Fan explained.

Hearing this, Chen He actually brightened up. "I can’t believe you’re sleeping on the couch, Boss! Just like me."

"Why are you sleeping on the couch?" Lu Fan asked.

Chen He answered, "Jiali’s sleeping in the master bedroom."

"Are you an idiot? Is the master bedroom the only bedroom in that house?" Lu Fan said, exasperated.

It finally dawned on Chen He. "Oh, right! I’ll just go sleep in the guest room then. That means you’re the only one sleeping on the couch, Boss."

"Chen He."

"Yeah, Boss?"

"You’re sleeping on the couch tonight. If I find out you slept in the guest room, I’m docking your pay for three months."

"Huh?!"

SLAM. Lu Fan shut the door.

’Truthfully,’ Lu Fan thought, ’if I’m not sleeping in Jiang Yixia’s bedroom, there’s no real difference between the couch and the guest room.’

’Besides, the other two rooms probably belong to Jiang Silu and Jiang Sifan.’

’It wouldn’t be right to sleep in either Jiang Silu’s room or Jiang Sifan’s room.’

Just then, Jiang Yixia heard the commotion outside. She opened the security camera feed on her phone to see what was happening in the living room.

The camera was pointed toward the couch and the bathroom door. Just as the sound of the shower turning off came through the feed, her heart inexplicably skipped a beat. Her fingertip froze on the screen, and she found she couldn’t bring herself to swipe the image away.

Lu Fan stepped out of the bathroom. A dry towel to rub his hair was slung over one hand, while he casually held a cotton pajama top in the other. His upper body was bare, and droplets of water clung to his shoulders and collarbones, tracing the sleek lines of his muscles before disappearing into the bath towel wrapped around his waist.
