Since Huang Hui wanted to go shopping, they decided to meet at Wanda Plaza.

Jiang Sifan got to the entrance of Wanda Plaza first and waited.

Before long, he saw Huang Hui walking over, all dolled up.

"Huh?" Huang Hui hadn’t expected Jiang Sifan to notice. She feigned calmness and said, "Yeah, I got it on Pinduoduo."

"From Pinduoduo? The leather on this one feels really nice. It must have been expensive, right?" Jiang Sifan asked.

"It wasn’t expensive." Huang Hui tucked the purse behind her slightly. "Oh, you’re such a typical guy, you wouldn’t get it. Pinduoduo has tons of purses like this."

Jiang Sifan heard her out but didn’t immediately bring up what Hu Ke had told him.

Then, the two of them went into the mall together.

After looking at several options, Huang Hui finally decided on coconut chicken.

"My treat today, baby. Order whatever you want," Huang Hui said, handing the menu to Jiang Sifan.

Jiang Sifan took the menu. To him, it didn’t really matter what they ate.

He’d be just as happy with food from an open-air stall or a food street, as long as it tasted good.

So he glanced at the menu, pointed to the house special, and said, "Let’s just get the coconut chicken. We don’t need anything else."

"Okay." Huang Hui called over a server and pointed to the menu. "We’ll have a small order of the coconut chicken."

Jiang Sifan heard this and asked, "A small portion of coconut chicken... is that going to be enough for the two of us?"

"It’ll be plenty," Huang Hui said with a nod. "I’m not that hungry anyway. I don’t want to eat too much."

"Alright." Jiang Sifan took a sip of tea, trying to think of an excuse to ask about the phone and the purse.

Just then, Huang Hui pulled out her phone and started scrolling through Douyin.

Jiang Sifan seized the opportunity. "That’s weird. Hu Ke told me that I bought you an iPhone, but I didn’t. Did you buy one for yourself?"

Hearing this, Huang Hui was so startled she almost dropped her phone.

She immediately started stammering, "Um... I actually bought it myself. I just wanted to be low-key, but also show everyone how good you are to me, so I just said you bought it for me. Yeah, that you bought it for me."

Jiang Sifan pressed on, still confused. "Then why are you still using this old phone? Why not use the new one?"

"Oh, come on, I was afraid you’d say I was spending money recklessly! Actually, my grandma bought me the iPhone. I was worried you’d get the wrong idea, so I didn’t bring it out," Huang Hui stammered.

Seeing that Jiang Sifan was about to ask something else, she quickly cut him off. "Okay, okay, I’ll bring the iPhone to show you next time we meet. There’s nothing that special about it, really. I think I prefer my Android phone anyway. I’m not used to it, and it loses signal in the elevator."

He had put down a full 10,000 for the startup capital. If the business failed, he had no idea how he would pay back the nearly 7,000 he’d borrowed.

So, Jiang Sifan headed straight to the library and got to work.

Meanwhile, Huang Hui muttered and cursed all the way back to her dorm.

She threw open the door and yelled at Hu Ke, who was in the middle of applying a face mask, "Hu Ke, what the hell is wrong with you? Why did you suddenly bring up the iPhone and the purse with my boyfriend?"

Hu Ke feigned innocence. "What are you talking about? What’s the big deal? Didn’t you say he bought all that for you? I just asked him where he bought the purse. I wanted to get one too, and you wouldn’t tell me when I asked."

"Don’t think I don’t know what you’re up to! You’re just trying to drive a wedge between me and my boyfriend. Everyone knows you’re into handsome guys, and since you don’t have one, you’re trying to steal mine, right?!" Huang Hui fumed.

Hu Ke ripped off her face mask and put her hands on her hips. "You’ve got to be kidding me. "You...!" Huang Hui was stunned into silence. All she could do was issue a threat. "Just stay away from my boyfriend, or we’re not even roommates anymore."

With that, she stormed into the bathroom.

Hu Ke just rolled her eyes and muttered to herself, "’Not even roommates anymore.’ Who would want to be roommates with you anyway? Such a fake."

Chen Kailin, who had been standing to the side, was terrified. She tried to placate them in a small voice, "Cocoa, don’t be mad. Maybe Huihui is just in a bad mood."

"So if she’s in a bad mood, she can just throw a tantrum whenever she wants?" Hu Ke’s voice grew louder. "Well then, if *I’m* in a bad mood, I guess I can just go around falsely accusing people, too!"

Inside the bathroom, Huang Hui clenched her fists, her teeth grinding in fury...

"I saved three buns. Do you want them?" Wen Wan said, taking them out of a bag. She quickly added, "I’ve already paid for these, so don’t worry."

"I can’t do that. You saved those for yourself. I can’t eat your late-night snack," Jiang Sifan refused. "I’ll just go to the campus store and buy some instant ramen."

Seeing that he was about to leave, Wen Wan quickly came out from behind the counter. "It’s really okay. I usually only eat one for a late snack anyway. I just thought that since I have an 8 a.m. class tomorrow, I could eat the other two during my morning classes..."

"Okay, how about this? I’ll take two, and then I’ll treat you to breakfast tomorrow morning. What do you say?" Jiang Sifan proposed.
