Lu Fan had Jiali stay with Jiang Silu in the hospital room.

"It’s nothing. Silu wants to try my cooking, so I plan to make one of her favorite dishes," Lu Fan said with a smile.

Jiang Yixia was surprised. She hadn’t expected her daughter to get so close with her father.

A flicker of gratification warmed her at the thought.

’Even though I won’t forgive this guy for now...’

’But the kids are innocent. If they can forgive him, maybe this bastard could actually be a big help to our two kids as they grow up.’

"Do you even know how to cook?" Jiang Yixia asked, her voice laced with skepticism.

"Nope. That’s why I’m learning now," Lu Fan chuckled.

After a moment, Jiang Yixia finally answered, "Her favorite is sweet and sour pork."

"Is it difficult?"

"Not for me," Jiang Yixia explained.

Lu Fan sounded pleased. "Okay, then. I’ll give it a try."

"Why would she suddenly want to eat something you cooked?" Jiang Yixia knew her daughter; she wouldn’t normally ask for something like that.

Lu Fan hadn’t wanted to tell Jiang Yixia, lest he make her worry.

But figuring she would find out sooner or later, he explained, "Silu has a high fever and is resting in her hospital room. I asked what she wanted to eat. At first, she said she didn’t want anything, but then she said she wanted to taste my cooking. Of course, I couldn’t just say I don’t know how, so I have to learn on the fly."

At his words, Jiang Yixia’s voice grew tense. "What did you say? Is it serious?"

"She’s okay. It’s just the flu. She pulled some all-nighters drawing recently and didn’t get enough rest," Lu Fan reassured her. "Don’t worry. As long as I’m here, nothing will happen."

Jiang Yixia didn’t want to admit it, but she knew Lu Fan was right.

With him by Jiang Silu’s side, she did feel much more at ease.

Given the situation, Jiang Yixia added a few more words. "Besides sweet and sour pork, she also likes scrambled eggs with tomato. If you can’t manage the sweet and sour pork, just make the scrambled eggs with tomato."

"Okay. If I get stuck while I’m cooking later, I’ll video call you," Lu Fan suggested.

Jiang Yixia frowned. "In your dreams. I have things to do."

"Oh, come on," Lu Fan began to coax her. "You don’t want the first meal I ever cook for our daughter to completely shatter her ’perfect father’ image, do you? Especially not while she’s sick."

"You, a ’perfect father’..." Jiang Yixia grumbled under her breath.

In the end, she neither agreed to nor refused Lu Fan’s request.

Soon, he arrived back at the manor.

Old Luo had already prepared a variety of ingredients in advance.
