Chapter 96: The Formation of the Guild
In the early morning, at the Cain Family Mansion.
With the help of the maid, Rosie, William got dressed neatly, carrying Angela downstairs to prepare for breakfast.
As soon as they entered the dining room, they saw Bernie already seated at the table, comfortably enjoying the breakfast prepared by William’s family chef without any hint of awkwardness.
William didn’t mind. Bernie and Mora had often visited his home before, and the servants were familiar with these two friends of his.
“You’re here so early today?”
William yawned, still not fully awake. Magic research tends to keep one up late easily. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
“Not that early. It’s been a while since I last came here. How come it feels like your family chef’s skills have improved?”
Bernie leisurely savored the bird egg and lotus seed soup in front of him, giving his compliments.
“I taught him well. Next time, I’ll prepare a feast for you.”
William picked up a piece of white bread from the side and spread jam on it, enjoying it blissfully.
“I didn’t expect our Viscount to also cook.”
Bernie joked. Normally serious and solemn, he only relaxed a bit when he was with William and Mora.
Angela, still groggy, seemed to smell the food and slowly climbed down from William’s shoulder, landing on the table and reaching out for something to eat.
William sighed helplessly, catching the drowsy little creature and placing her in front of the breakfast specially prepared for her.
The household chefs had become accustomed to preparing two servings of food every time now, one for the little bat, though they weren’t sure why she ate so much.
Bernie also looked curiously at the small white bat. It seemed like a magical beast raised by William?
“By the way, has Mora not arrived yet?”
Bernie finished his breakfast, wiping his mouth and asking:
“I notified Mora yesterday, and he said he’d come in the morning.”
William paused, then continued:
“But you know him; who knows when he’ll actually show up.”
Bernie shrugged, saying:
“Yeah.”
After both of them finished their breakfast, they spent half the morning exchanging knowledge of runes on the soft sofa in the living room before finally seeing Mora enter, looking exhausted.
“Why are you so late? Up to any good?”
William smiled at Mora and joked.
“Oh, don’t even mention it!”
Mora collapsed onto an empty sofa as soon as he entered, complaining:
“Why couldn’t you give me a heads-up earlier? Yesterday, when your servant came to inform me, I was having a deep conversation with that lady!”

“What, did I bother you?”
William said with a hint of embarrassment. This guy was doing these things every day, anyway. When did he have spare time?
“No, it’s just that I didn’t have a good meal last night. My ability to create an atmosphere is still strong, though.”
Mora struck a cool pose. It would have been more convincing if he hadn’t kept his hand on his hip.
“Okay, enough of that. I called you over this time for something serious.”
“I figured. Bernie’s here too, it’s been a while.”
Mora greeted Bernie with a wave.
“Still remember the gift I mentioned last time? Well, this is about that,” William said.
“Oh?”
Mora perked up at the mention.
William didn’t beat around the bush and shared the plan with Mora about incorporating the “Self-Recharging” runic enchantments into civilian enchanted products.
Upon hearing half of it, Mora sat up straight on the sofa, his eyes bright and attentive as he looked at William.
As someone born into a wealthy merchant family, he naturally understood the significance of the “Self-Recharging” runes.
“Is this for real?” Mora glanced at Bernie. It wasn’t that he didn’t trust William, but the news was too shocking, and he wanted confirmation from another source.
“It is indeed. Both my teacher and I have reviewed the ‘Self-Recharging’ runes, and there are no issues with their effectiveness.”
“Moreover, Master Dahr will help us improve these runes and combine their effects with the ‘Concealment’ runes, which will be more advantageous for us to protect this secret.”
Bernie spoke with great certainty.
With confirmation received, Mora let out a long sigh of relief, leaning back on the sofa. He started pondering something, revealing a shrewd demeanor. At this moment, he seemed quite different from his lazy and carefree appearance earlier.
William and Bernie didn’t interrupt him. They didn’t want to get too involved in the business operations; leaving it to Mora was the best option.
Although Mora often appeared lazy and carefree, both William and Bernie knew very well that he had remarkable talent and skills in business, no less than those seasoned businessmen who had been in the trade for a long time.
However, Mora had an older brother who overshadowed him. Most of the family business would be inherited by that person. Therefore, Mora had previously thought about leveraging the power of the Golden Vine Chamber of Commerce to start his own venture and even wanted to pull William and Bernie along.
But now, when it came down to it, with the plan in place and the product advantages being significant, Mora was feeling a bit cautious.
After all, the “Self-Recharging” runes were a groundbreaking existence, even more exaggerated than he had imagined.
If everything went smoothly, the chamber founded by the three of them might even become the largest chamber in the Fis Kingdom, or even the entire continent of Fanor!
But at the same time, the pressure from all sides would be unprecedentedly huge, and Mora had to carefully consider every detail.
After all, this was a venture invited by his close friend William. If it failed, Mora wasn’t sure if he would still have the face to appear in front of William.
“Don’t feel too pressured,” William said, looking relaxed. He could tell from Mora’s solemn expression that his brother was thinking too far ahead.
“Everything needs to be kept secret at the beginning, especially the existence of the ‘Self-Recharging’ runes and the overall cost of the product.”
“Besides the three of us and Master Dahr, I don’t plan to let others know in the short term.”
“As a cover-up, let others think that Master Dahr has developed a rune that efficiently saves magic power, with a lower cost than using elemental crystals directly. It’s just that we’re the ones managing it.”
“This way, there won’t be much of a stir for the time being. When we accumulate enough strength, we can gradually expand into other areas.”
“Mm.”
With William’s analysis, Mora immediately felt a lot less pressure. If they followed William’s plan, indeed, there wouldn’t be too much pressure.
“So, what do you need me to do now?” Mora asked proactively. Hearing about this plan, his palms were sweating, and he felt a trembling excitement, a fresh sense of stimulation waiting for him ahead.
Just like his first time!
“There are many things that need your attention, which neither Bernie nor I are good at.”
“But most importantly right now,” William said with a smile, “let’s go meet your father, Baron Karl, the president of the Golden Vine Chamber of Commerce.”
