At the Fis Royal Magic Academy, within the Academy Dueling Arena.

Josef and Odysseus were liberally casting various high-level spells, yet their feet remained where they had started, unmoved.

To them, even though they were a bit heated, they weren’t at the point of fighting to the death. Their battle was primarily a display of direct magical assaults, aiming to overpower the other.

Despite being an arcanist with a wide array of methods at his disposal, Josef, with his luxurious magical equipment, was able to stand on equal footing with Odysseus for the time being, not at all inferior.

However, to the observing students, with their level of insight, they couldn’t discern the intricacies of the duel, only marveling at the powerful abilities and skillful techniques of the two.

“Weren’t these two always quite amiable? Why have they suddenly gone all out against each other?”

The students watched intently, discussing among friends.

“Didn’t you hear? They seem to be fighting over a student named William!”

“What kind of genius is this William, to have startled such distinguished individuals into competing for him?”

“Indeed, one is the academy’s vice dean and the other a master of magic runes!”

“I wish they would take me as their disciple too; then breaking through to the silver level would surely be no problem.”

“Stop dreaming. By the way, do you know this William person? Must be a student of the academy, right?”

“No idea, never heard of a genius named William before.”

Perhaps due to William’s low profile or perceived as lacking talent, no one considered that the disciple Josef and Odysseus were fighting over was the inconspicuous Viscount William Cain.

As the sparks between Josef and Odysseus grew more intense, the protective barrier that had lit up around the dueling arena suddenly flickered and disappeared, along with the high-level spells they had just cast.

“Dean!”

Upon seeing the young man, Odysseus immediately greeted him respectfully and signaled to Josef, who was standing by his side, to do the same.

This was none other than the head of the Fis Royal Magic Academy, the legendary mage, Apollo Stephens!

Josef, realizing who was standing before him, quickly followed Odysseus in greeting.

He had joined the Fis Royal Magic Academy only ten years ago, and by the time he enrolled, the head of the academy had already embarked on a journey. Therefore, he had not met the kingdom’s foremost public figure and the only legendary mage.

However, upon seeing Apollo, Josef felt a sense of awe, realizing the rare opportunity to meet this legendary figure, and any animosity he felt from his altercation with Odysseus dissipated.

This was the leader of the Fis Royal Mage Corps, the head of the Fis Royal Magic Academy, a legendary mage, the pinnacle of mages, “Flame of Judgment” Lord Apollo Stephens.

He was one of the reasons Josef chose to join the Fis Royal Magic Academy. Although the academy provided him with abundant resources, as a Master of Magic Runes, he could receive similar treatment elsewhere.

But this place was different. Although he had traveled to many countries on the Fanor continent, the only legendary mage who often appeared was Lord “Flame of Judgment.”

The opportunity to receive guidance from a legendary mage was one of Yousef’s conditions for joining the academy.

Apollo slightly tilted his head, acknowledging Josef, and said, “Josef, right? Impressive achievement, reaching the level of a senior rune master at such a young age. Keep up the good work.”

“I’ll be around the academy for a while, feel free to seek me out.”

Josef was very excited, not minding being called a young man.

“I come back to find you dueling with Josef. Are you, the vice dean, really that free?”

Odysseus was quite familiar with the head of the academy, having handled most of the academy’s affairs in his absence, and knew that Apollo was jesting.

“Nothing much, just practicing with Josef because my hands were getting stiff.”

“Oh?”

Seeing Odysseus trying to hide something, Apollo’s smile grew wider, and he turned to look at Josef asking:

“What do you say, Josef? What was the reason?”

“Yes, Lord Stephens.”

Josef straightened up, pointing at Odysseus and indignantly saying:

“This vice dean insists on stealing my disciple. It’s too much.”

Odysseus offered a series of defenses, bowing his head and ignoring Yousef’s accusation.

“Is that so?”

Apollo stroked his chin, becoming interested.

“What kind of talent would cause a vice dean and a master of magic runes to compete? I’m very curious, Odysseus!”
