Chapter 66 -66: The Dullahan, Lawrence
William immediately held his breath, not turning around, slowly moving his feet to retreat backwards.
No matter what the creature ahead was, it was something he couldn’t afford to provoke at the moment.
When in doubt, the best plan is to retreat! William, tactically retreating, did his best to minimize his presence, although the “Conceal Scent” and “Invisibility” spells he relied on were just third-circle spells and not of a high tier.
Despite the poor perception of undead creatures, William decided it was better to be cautious.
William maintained a safe distance from the creature ahead and, after retreating to a junction in the maze, hurriedly turned into a corridor leading in another direction.
After reaching a sufficiently safe area, William stopped to observe the unknown creature from a distance, hoping to glean some useful information.
After a while, dull footsteps echoed from the corridor ahead.
“Thud, thud.”
It sounded like the thumping of a heavy object on the ground, reverberating through the corridor. William focused, his eyes fixed on the intersection ahead.
A dark shadow entered William’s line of sight, and thankfully, “Arcane Sight” helped William see the creature’s form clearly.
It was a tall skeleton, over two meters high, with bones as white as marble, exuding a strange sense of power despite being made only of bones.
The skeleton’s eye sockets flickered with pale white soul flames, and it was clad in a dark full-body armor, its bony hands tightly holding a cold-gleaming longsword and shield.
This skeleton soldier did not notice William, who was not far away, and continued to move forward aimlessly through the corridor.
William raised an eyebrow.
A skeleton warrior! Fortunately, it did not notice him.
It seemed that with a bit of caution, he still had a good chance of moving freely within the tomb.
And, more importantly, William now knew where he was.
The Evil Bones Temple!
This was the only place in the tomb where skeleton warriors existed.
Skeleton soldiers, as the most common and lowest-circle existence among the undead, were not without their uses.
Their advantages were low cost and large numbers.
As the favored cannon fodder of necromancers, skeleton soldiers lacked self-awareness, worked tirelessly, and continued until their soul fire was completely extinguished.
However, not all skeleton soldiers were lowly minions; some powerful beings existed among them.
Skeleton warriors were one such example. Strengthened by necromantic energy over countless years, the hardness of their bones had become comparable to fine steel, and their armor and weapons, nurtured over the long years, had become indestructible.
Unfortunately, the rich necromantic energy emanating from these weapons and armor made them unsuitable for human use, or else they would have constituted a luxurious set of magical equipment.
That being said, if he was in the Evil Bones Temple, then his location must be at the very bottom of the entire tomb.
The “Azrael’s Tomb of Death” mainly consists of maze corridors and various undead creature nests.
The Lich Tower, where Azrael resides, is at the very top of the maze, the core of the entire labyrinth.
The magic array that aided Azrael’s lich transformation is located within the Lich Tower.
Additionally, the maze contains areas like the cemetery for zombies, the mansion for vampires, and the dark hall for dark knights.
Follow new episodes on the "N0vel1st.c0m".
Among them, the Dullahan Lawrence typically wanders around the dark hall, while the Vampire Angela stays within the mansion.
Under normal circumstances, if one were raiding the dungeon, there’s no need to bother with other monster nests; just killing all the minions and BOSSes in the Dungeon and the dark hall would awaken Lich Azrael, who would then appear to attack the players.
Killing Azrael at this point would clear this instance of the dungeon.
For William, who has chosen another method to clear the dungeon, his target this time is the mansion!
In the cemetery of the tomb, Elena was surrounded by a greenish aura, darting between rows of dark gray, broken tombstones, her complexion somewhat pale.
Behind her, a group of constantly howling zombies followed closely. Their bodies seemed to be cast from steel, emitting a dark luster, with muscles, blood vessels, and bones visible in their torn wounds.
The zombies moved sluggishly, limping after Elena. Though their steps appeared slow and heavy, they were not falling far behind.
What is happening?
A panic Elena couldn’t suppress rose from the bottom of her heart. Separated and teleported to this cemetery with her teammates, then immediately chased by a group of zombies, she couldn’t understand what was happening.
She tried to counterattack, but seeing her wind-elemental arrows only leave a white mark on the zombies, she knew these were not the monsters she could deal with.
Fortunately, zombies are among the slowest of all supernatural creatures, allowing Elena to slowly maneuver around the environment, looking for an opportunity to escape.
The dwarf warrior, Lumbro, sat quietly in a pitch-dark stone chamber, clutching a hammer and shield in his hands.
Just awakened, he witnessed a tall skeleton in black armor passing by the entrance of the stone chamber.
A strong sense of danger made Lumbro realize he was no match for these creatures.
Lumbro understood that if these creatures found and caught up with him, his slow speed meant he could not escape, only death awaited.
The best option was to stay put and not go anywhere, as those creatures seemed not to enter this stone chamber.
“O mighty and supreme god Moradin! Please show your faithful follower the way forward!”
Even knowing the slim hope of being rescued by his teammates while staying put, Lumbro did not give up. He remained vigilant of his surroundings while silently praying to the dwarven god Moradin in his heart.
Inside the Dark Hall,
This church-like building stood quietly in the darkness, devoid of any sense of sanctity. Twisted patterns and mottled bloodstains proved this place was not a site of goodness.
Looking up, one would find a figure crouching on a small platform at the top of the hall.
Jason dared not breathe heavily, his limbs numb from being in the same position for so long, yet he made no sound.
Just transported here, Jason had already seen several black knights standing quietly in the hall below him, about twenty meters away.
Jason recognized them at a glance; these were the dark knights riding undead giant horses, elite units among undead creatures symbolizing death and terror.
Jason faced the most dangerous situation since becoming a professional.
Ignoring any resentment, Jason reduced any noise he made as much as possible, hoping for a slim chance to escape.
Meanwhile, outside the Dark Hall,
William did not know that his teammates were so close, carefully moving along the stone wall.
The reason for his caution?
Not far from him, a figure much taller than the average dark knight wandered slowly, its presence emitting an evil aura that made William uncomfortable even from a distance.
Oddly, this dark knight had no head on his body.
William, of course, knew who this was.
