Lana Chambers felt that this time, Eve Vaughn was like a fish in a barrel.

So she didn’t bother holding back and teased, "Evie, darling, don’t look down on Arthur for being old. After all, you have a thing for older men! You may not want to admit it, but we know all about your ’relationship’ with Lawyer Spencer. But no matter how much he spoils you, a family with the Spencers’ pedigree would never let you through their door. You’d be better off with Arthur. At least you’d have a proper title. Eve Vaughn feigned capitulation. "I’ll have to think about it. But right now, I need to use the restroom."

Lana Chambers wasn’t worried about her pulling any tricks. After all, the restroom was inside the apartment.

Today, there was no escape for Eve Vaughn!

"Fine, go ahead."

Lana Chambers pointed toward the restroom. "It’s over there."

Feeling her strength fail her, Eve Vaughn staggered toward the restroom.

The moment she was inside, however, she immediately bolted the door.

Her only saving grace was that she had put her phone in her pocket, not her purse.

That was the only way she could have brought it into the restroom with her.

She frantically pulled out her phone and called Mason Lawson.

Thankfully, the call connected almost instantly.

Panicked and terrified, Eve Vaughn spoke in a hushed, trembling voice. "Mason, you have to come save me. I... I’ve been drugged. I have no strength left."

Mason Lawson’s chillingly deep voice came from the other end. "Are you at your uncle and aunt’s apartment right now?"

"Yeah. They set me up on a date with some old man, and he was getting handsy." Eve Vaughn was on the verge of tears, her voice choking up. "I’m hiding in the restroom now. Please come quickly, okay? I’m so scared..."

Mason Lawson was out the door in an instant, driving toward Violet Court.

Luckily, he wasn’t far from Violet Court.

He sped, soothing her over the phone. "Evie, don’t be scared. You did the right thing. Just stay in the restroom and don’t come out. Wait for me. Fifteen minutes, max. And send me your current location."

Eve Vaughn immediately opened her messaging app and sent him her precise location.

The feeling of weakness was growing more intense. Eve Vaughn felt like she wouldn’t even have the strength to stand up much longer.

Outside, the others sat at the dining table, still waiting for Eve Vaughn to emerge.

Arthur Sinclair asked Lana Chambers impatiently, "Cousin, why isn’t Eve Vaughn out yet? It’s been ten minutes. She’s not hiding from us, is she?"

Lana Chambers scoffed, brimming with confidence. "Let her hide. I’d like to see for how long. Don’t worry, she’s a fish on the chopping block now. The restroom might have a window, but we’re on the eighteenth floor. Unless she plans on jumping!"

Jason Vaughn also chimed in with a suggestion for Arthur Sinclair. "Arthur, we’ve already drugged Eve Vaughn. Tonight, you just need to seal the deal. She won’t have a choice but to agree!"

Lana Chambers added, "We even have a room ready for you. Right here in the apartment. Perfectly safe!"

She pictured the scene of Arthur Sinclair forcing himself on Eve Vaughn and felt a thrill of malicious glee.

Then, they would take photos and videos to send to Jonah Spencer.

She refused to believe that Jonah Spencer would still want someone else’s sloppy seconds.

A few more minutes passed. With Eve Vaughn still not out, the people at the dining table started to get antsy.

Arthur Sinclair said sinisterly, "She’s definitely hiding from me! Or she’s up to something in there. I’m not waiting anymore. I want her out now."

After all, having a pure, innocent young woman right in front of you that you couldn’t touch was an incredibly frustrating feeling.

With that, he walked to the restroom door and tried the handle.

However, the door was locked from the inside.

"Open up!"

Arthur Sinclair revealed his boorish, nouveau riche nature, pounding violently on the restroom door. "Don’t think you can escape just by locking the door! You’d better come out quietly and submit to me. It’ll save you a lot of pain!"

Eve Vaughn was still on the phone with Mason Lawson, so Arthur Sinclair’s voice carried right into his ear.

"Mason, what do I do?"

Eve Vaughn pleaded in a whisper. "Where are you now? He’s... I think he’s trying to break down the door."

Mason Lawson gripped the steering wheel, the car flying down the road. "I’m almost at the residential complex, Evie. Just hold on a little longer."

Eve Vaughn could only shout at the door, "What are you banging on about? I’m on my period, and I have cramps!"

"Don’t give me that crap!"

Arthur Sinclair sneered. "On your period? Who do you think you’re fooling? If you’ve got the guts, pull down your pants and let me check!"

Just then, Lana Chambers’s voice came from outside the door. "I’m going to get the spare key. Let’s see how long she can hide then."

Hearing this, Eve Vaughn quickly hung up and stuffed the phone back in her pocket, terrified they would find it.

A moment later, Lana Chambers returned with the key and unlocked the restroom door.

Eve Vaughn was slumped weakly against the wall, but her eyes blazed with hatred as she stared at them. She ground out through clenched teeth, "If you dare to touch a single hair on my head, you will all regret this!"

Arthur Sinclair chuckled, swaggering over to her and stroking her cheek. "Is that right? Just a hair on your head? Soon, all of you will be mine. We’ll see who does the regretting."

Lana Chambers said with a smile that didn’t reach her eyes, "Evie, I suggest you just give in. No one can save you now. Are you still hoping Jonah Spencer will rescue you? I’ll be honest, I had someone look up his itinerary. He left for Calypsos on business yesterday and won’t be back until next week."

Eve Vaughn said, "If you let me go now, I can still spare you. Otherwise, I guarantee you will all meet a gruesome end!"

"Forget it, Arthur. Stop wasting your breath on her."

Lana Chambers patted Arthur Sinclair’s shoulder. "I’m handing my niece over to you. You’d better take good care of her, you hear?"

Arthur Sinclair was already rubbing his hands together in glee. "Don’t you worry, Cousin!"

The next second, he scooped Eve Vaughn into his arms and strode impatiently toward the bedroom.

"Let me go, you bastard! Let go!"

Eve Vaughn tried to fight back with all her might, but she couldn’t muster a shred of strength, let alone struggle.

Arthur Sinclair tossed her onto the bed and began to undress.

Just then, the front door of the apartment burst open, and Mason Lawson appeared, flanked by several bodyguards.

"Pres... President Lawson?" Lana Chambers and Jason Vaughn were both stunned, their minds reeling with questions.

’Why was Mason Lawson here? And how did he get in?’

Mason Lawson’s expression was glacial, like a demon from the depths of hell. He bit out each word. "Where is Eve Vaughn?"

"You... You’re looking for Eve Vaughn?"

Lana Chambers still couldn’t process what was happening.

The next second, one of Mason Lawson’s bodyguards slapped her across the face.

Just then, a scream from Eve Vaughn echoed from one of the rooms.

Mason Lawson’s heart sank, and he immediately headed in the direction of the sound.
