Sharon Lowe said indignantly, "I was just worried Mr. Hale didn’t know the full story, so I wanted to explain it to you. Anyway, the news about Eve Vaughn’s donation fraud is all over the university forums. Everyone knows!"

After she finished, many students chimed in, "Exactly! Eve Vaughn deserves it! She’s profiting from someone else’s suffering!"

Hamilton Hale was usually busy with work and didn’t have time to browse the Rivaster University forums.

Hearing the students’ comments, he got a general idea of what had happened.

But he really disliked Sharon Lowe’s attitude.

"You, what’s your name?"

Hamilton Hale asked coldly, looking at Sharon Lowe.

Sharon Lowe was taken aback for a moment. "My name is Sharon Lowe. I’m Eve Vaughn’s roommate, so I know her character better than anyone."

Hamilton Hale stared at her and continued, "So, do you know anything about the dead mouse that appeared in Eve Vaughn’s school bag?"

A flash of guilt crossed Sharon Lowe’s eyes. She shook her head. "How would I know? She’s public enemy number one right now. Anyone could have done it!"

"Alright, you can sit down."

Hamilton Hale said in a low voice, "The entire class heard what you just said, so they can all be witnesses. I believe the university will investigate Eve Vaughn’s situation thoroughly. If the final result doesn’t match what you’ve claimed, I expect that you, as an adult, will have to pay the price for your words today."

Hamilton Hale’s warning was intimidating. Although many students had a problem with Eve Vaughn, the saying "the bird that sticks its head out gets shot" applied. Sharon Lowe was now in Mr. Hale’s sights, so no one else dared to act out.

After all, a large portion of their final grade was tied to their regular class performance.

The grade for class performance was highly subjective. Pissing off your professor was a sure way to gain nothing and lose everything.

He then resumed his lecture. Eve Vaughn, though back in her seat, was completely distracted.

’When I packed my bag for my afternoon classes at the dorm around noon,’ she thought, ’it was perfectly clean.’

’Then after my nap, I brought my bag straight to the classroom. It never left my sight.’

’So, the only people who had the opportunity to put the mouse in my bag were my roommates.’

Eve Vaughn knew it was almost certainly Sharon Lowe.

She glanced back and met Sharon Lowe’s triumphant and provocative smile.

Eve Vaughn silently told herself to stay calm and not let herself be provoked by such a petty person.

’But with so much slander being thrown at me, how am I supposed to save myself?’

After class, the students filed out of the room, but Hamilton Hale asked Eve Vaughn to stay behind.

Eve Vaughn’s voice was muffled. "Mr. Hale, thank you for coming to my defense in class."

Hamilton Hale leaned against the desk next to her. "What’s this about donation fraud? I don’t think you’re the type to do something like that."

Eve Vaughn sighed and explained, "My aunt and uncle were occupying my family’s villa, and they wouldn’t pay for my tuition or my mother’s medical treatments. At the time, a businessman was offering financial aid, so I applied. I was lucky enough to be accepted. But now, Lawyer Spencer has helped me get the villa back, right? So my financial crisis is temporarily resolved. I’m planning to sell the villa soon so I can be self-sufficient. But someone found out I owned a villa, took pictures, and posted them on the university forums."

Hamilton Hale couldn’t help but admire her. She was so young, barely an adult, and had already been through so much.

Donating part of her liver to Julian Lawson, only to be slandered and treated so poorly by her own relatives.

The fact that Eve Vaughn had managed to hold up this far was a testament to her strength.

Hamilton Hale helped her analyze the situation. "But even if you explain, people won’t necessarily believe you. You need to find someone powerful to suppress this public opinion. Otherwise, you’ll continue to be a victim of campus bullying."

"Someone powerful?"

Eve Vaughn said quietly, "You mean... Mason?"

A smile played on Hamilton Hale’s lips. "I’m guessing you haven’t told him yet, have you? Otherwise, he probably would have stepped in long ago."

At the mention of Mason Lawson, Eve Vaughn puffed out her cheeks in a huff. "I don’t want to talk to him anymore. He only uses his power to bully honest people and students."

Hamilton Hale couldn’t help but chuckle. He asked with interest, "Who did he bully?"

Eve Vaughn got angry just thinking about it. "A few days ago, someone confessed to me—our class president. I already made things clear with him, and it’s not like he did anything out of line. But Mason actually had the university punish him! The kind that goes on your permanent record. I was so mad I could have died!"

Hamilton Hale listened calmly and asked, "That’s it?"

"Yes! Isn’t that enough?"

Eve Vaughn said indignantly, "I’m so disappointed in him. He’s always so domineering and autocratic, never considering anyone else."

Hamilton Hale tilted his head as he looked at her. "Silly girl, Mason was jealous. When men get jealous, they’re just like women—completely irrational."

Eve Vaughn’s cheeks turned red, and she looked a little embarrassed.

After a moment of silence, she said stubbornly, "Well, I didn’t do anything wrong. He’s been giving me the cold shoulder for two days. Why am I always the one who has to apologize? Besides, I can’t always run to him for help with my own problems. If I do, I’ll just be a little bird in his cage forever. He’ll be able to lose his temper with me whenever he wants, and I’ll always have to walk on eggshells around him."

Hamilton Hale’s opinion of her improved with each interaction. He suddenly felt that the young woman before him was not only interesting but also had a very clear-eyed view of things.

Just then, Hamilton Hale’s phone rang. It was the hospital calling him back for an emergency surgery.

Because of this, Hamilton Hale rushed out of the classroom and headed for the hospital without even finishing his conversation with Eve Vaughn.

Eve Vaughn, for her part, prepared to head back to her dorm.

But just as she reached the bottom of her dorm building, she saw a pile of clothes, toiletries, a comforter, and a pillow by the trash cans.

They were all hers.

A few passing students seemed to deliberately kick her toiletries, scattering them everywhere. As for the pillow and comforter, someone had maliciously doused them with water and leftover instant noodles.

She looked up toward her dorm room and was shocked to see Sharon Lowe on the balcony, munching on potato chips and enjoying the spectacle.

Eve Vaughn snapped. The frustration she had been suppressing all day finally erupted.

She strode toward the dorm room.

Pushing the door open, Eve Vaughn walked straight to the balcony and looked at Sharon Lowe coldly. "Did you throw my things down there?"

Sharon Lowe said with a smirk, "I did. So what? Living with someone like you disgusts me, so I had to ask you to move out. Besides, how much is this stuff even worth? Isn’t your family rich? Don’t you have a big villa? If it’s thrown out, just buy new stuff!"

Eve Vaughn gave a cold smile and nodded. "Very good."

With that, she walked directly to Sharon Lowe’s bed, opened her locker, and pulled out all of her belongings.

Among them were more than a few designer bags and clothes.

Nina Steele, on the bed opposite Sharon Lowe’s, glanced over, put on her headphones, and went back to studying for her major courses.

"Eve Vaughn, what are you doing!"

Before Sharon Lowe’s shocked and bewildered eyes, Eve Vaughn began throwing the items straight down from the balcony.

At that moment, Sharon Lowe desperately needed an ally.

She rushed over to Nina Steele’s bed and pulled her up. "I’m doing this for you! You’re the one on financial aid. Now she’s doing this to me, and you’re just going to stand by and watch? Quick, help me stop her!"

Nina Steele irritably shook off her hand. "What does this have to do with me?"

With that, she grabbed her English book and left the dorm room.

Sharon Lowe was now completely alone. She could only scramble frantically to stop Eve Vaughn.

"Stop it! You bitch, stop it right now!"

She screamed insults, but Eve Vaughn, her face devoid of expression, continued to rip the sheets and bedding from her bed and throw them down.
