Mia Kendall cried out, "That damned Eric Kendall is vicious!"

The manager picked his ear impatiently. "Alright, alright, stop your pointless struggling. Young Mr. Kendall has always been a free spirit. He’s probably only offering to send you to get your bones set after they’re broken because you’re women. In the old days, he’d just have your legs broken and toss you out. Who’d care if you made it to a hospital?"

Mia Kendall never thought Eric Kendall would be so ruthless. Fear finally gripped her, and she shouted, "You’ve been tricked by him! I really am his sister. How about this? Call the Kendall family. Call them right now!"

The manager spat on the floor. "What the hell, do I look like I have nothing better to do? Call the Kendall family for two paparazzi? Who the hell am I to them? Enough bullshit. Let’s get started!"

Mia Kendall was now beside herself with regret. ’I’m probably not getting out of this one.’ She said, "Fine, go ahead and do it. But can you let my friend go? She got dragged into this because of me. I’m the one who forced her to come."

Eve Vaughn immediately cut in, "Mia, I’m not going to abandon you to save my own skin. Didn’t we just say we’d stick together, for better or worse?"

The manager sneered. "You two are full of tricks, aren’t you? Starting to put on this touching display of sisterly affection for me? Let me tell you, no one negotiates with us at The Aegis Club! You two brats, neither of you is getting away!"

The bodyguards had already grabbed baseball bats and were closing in on them, step by step.

One could only imagine the consequences if those thick bats were to strike their legs.

Just then, a flash of inspiration struck Eve Vaughn in her desperation. She yelled, "Mason Lawson is my uncle! I want to see Mason Lawson!"

As soon as she spoke, the manager immediately raised a hand, stopping the bodyguards who were about to make their move.

"Say what you just said again!"

The manager’s eyes narrowed. "Do you have any idea who President Lawson is? You dare to just claim you’re his relative? If you piss him off, it won’t just be about breaking your damn legs!"

The manager didn’t believe her one bit. He had just gone to find Eric Kendall, only to find out the man didn’t have a sister like that at all. It had made him look like he was filing a false report.

Now, if he went and bothered Mason Lawson, he figured he’d be the next one to get his legs broken.

Eve Vaughn was filled with pent-up fury. She roared at the club manager, "If you dare to lay a finger on me or my friend, we’ll see whose damn legs get broken—yours or mine! Go find Mason Lawson right now and tell him Eve Vaughn is here!"

The manager was conflicted. He hesitated, then spat in frustration, muttering to himself, "Dammit, what a cursed night. Everyone’s claiming to be royalty!"

But if he didn’t report it, what if Eve Vaughn really was connected to Mason Lawson?

The manager mulled it over for a long moment, then pointed at her. "I’m going to go get confirmation from President Lawson right now. If he says he doesn’t know you, then you just wait! I’ll have both of your hides!"

Left with no other choice, the manager had to go back once more.

Standing at the door of the private room where Eric Kendall and his friends were, the manager took a deep breath and entered with the air of a man marching to his doom.

He had barely stepped inside when Eric Kendall snatched a teacup from the table and hurled it at him.

"How many times do I have to tell you? Is this ever going to end?" Eric Kendall glared at him. "It’s just a couple of petty snoops. Do you really need to keep coming in here to report on it?"

The manager forced an apologetic smile. "Young Mr. Kendall, please calm your anger. The thing is, this matter now involves... President Lawson."

Just then, Mason Lawson, who had been listlessly playing cards off to the side, lifted his gaze. "What does it have to do with me?"

Eric Kendall joked, "They were probably trying to capture my glorious face and accidentally got you in the frame!"

The manager wiped away a cold sweat and said, trembling, "Actually, it’s not that. You know the girl who was impersonating your sister? Her accomplice... says that President Lawson is her uncle. She says her name is Eve Vaughn. I wasn’t sure what to do, so I came to ask for instructions. If none of you know her, I’ll go take care of those two lying brats right now!"

Mason Lawson’s cool eyes narrowed abruptly. His expression became inscrutable, leaving the club manager completely unable to read him.

Eric Kendall was taken aback. "Who did you say? Eve Vaughn?"

The club manager nodded eagerly, like a chicken pecking at grain.

Eric Kendall immediately glanced over at Mason Lawson, as if waiting for his input.

After all, if that brat Mia Kendall got a beating, so be it.

But this time, Mason Lawson had forgiven him and even shown up to this gathering he’d arranged. Eric Kendall had always assumed it was because Eve Vaughn had put in a good word for him with Mason Lawson.

Just then, Jonah Spencer nudged him with his elbow. "I don’t think that little Miss Vaughn is very brave. All this talk about tying her up and breaking her legs... she must be terrified. This is the perfect time for a mature, older man like you to go comfort her!"

Nearby, Eric Kendall nearly spat out his drink.

In the small room, there had been no sound or movement for a long time. Mia Kendall and Eve Vaughn started to think this was it—tonight was the night they were going to die.
